Playing story as NPC, We could do it in IV why not V?

Hello guys

 

First of all I hope this will not only help me but other people who get involved.

Second; Im a huge fan of modding ever since I saw modders on 360 playing as NPCs I just thought "that had to be me" simply because playing a game from a modded perspective is on average more interesting and fun that playing it vanilla style. Im a HUGE fan of police tactical role play so I often try to play GTA V which I now have on my PC as the SWAT guys. Its really fun and I have downloaded and installed several mods from gta5-mods.com which allow you to play counter strike style noose missions around San Andreas. One of the mods even replicated Counter Strike in the sense you get to defuse bombs and rescue people! One of them took place on a aircraft carrier which reminds me of playing Army of Two for the first time damn that mission was fun.

 

But the thing is that even though these mods are fun they just didn't have that satisfaction that I got while playing GTAO missions on the 360. So the closest that I can get to that is playing the story missions as a NPC (the swat guy) since there aren;t any mods which has GTAO missions where you can play as a NPC, which brings us to one of our problems when it comes to modding GTA......

 

For those of you who mod GTA you know its possible to be able to change your skin to that of an NPC. However what I want to ask is how many of you have had success being able to play a story mission as a NPC? I do know there are some missions that can be played as a NPC however most of them glitch simply because the NPC doesn't work.

 

Can anybody make a list of missions that work when playing as a NPC? I know that I can play Crystal Maze and others as a ped but I don't remember all of them since its been a while since I've played GTA.

 

I do have experience modding using OpenIV however I've never programmed GTA and I was trying to import 360 models and code from ISO to PC but that obviously didn't work.

 

Is there a mod that I can do which can allow the story missions to be played as NPCs?

 

OR

 

Is there a way I can re-program the NPC to be like that of the main characters?

 

OR

 

Can I simply just add a ped model to replace the protagonist model completely?

 

I have been doing modding and I have tried this but I can't seem to find the story char models anywhere. I have GTA IV on my PC and the reason why I ask this question in the first place is because in IV I was able to play most if not ALL of the missions as an NPC. (I played as noose since I like tac police role-play). I had no problem doing it in IV it was just the missions where I worked for the mafia that I started to have problems. heck I even changed Niko into a battlefield character man that was epic!

 

One of the reasons I stopped playing GTA on my PC was because it lacked this epicness that the GTAO story missions had. I want to be able to play as a NPC on ALL if not MOST of the story missions why? because its FUN and we CAN!

 

I hope this discussion will help solve this problem because I REALLY want to get back into GTA but I just need to get past this last barrier.

I also liked to play as GTAO Protagonist in GTA V SP using Skin Control mod, I've tested several story missions, many of them is bugged, but some of them surprisingly runs fine (on some occassions) while using the skin, especially the Monkey Business one (after you reach the Humane Labs from water tunnel), it's also fun to play with GTZ (Grand Theft Zombies) mod

So simply wait the modder's scripting revolution, everything is almost possible with modding community, I agree with you but we must to be patient.

The reason why you can't play as a ped and continue through missions is because of the multiple protagonist system. Depending on what character you play as will decide whether or not certain scripts are available to you.

 

Trevor can't play Michael's missions, Franklin can't do the gun running missions. Etc.

 

We can't reprogram an NPC to be a "protagonist" without YSC editing. It's not worth it either, just use that mission builder mod.

Unless you change the models of the protagonists manually by replacing their YDD/YTD files. You'll have to wait for YSC.
