Immediate crash despite reinstall

Hi guys,

 

First off, sorry if I should've posted somewhere else, but I haven't been around for years and I'm getting pissed that the game doesn't work, so here goes.

 

After a few months of not having played the game, I thought about playing it again. It updated with about 3 gb of new content, installed it, done.

So I tried to start the game, but it immediatley crashes as soon as I get the black screen (which is supposed to be followed by the trademarks and such).

I've even used the "Repair" option on the CD, but it still doesn't work - Admin mode or Safe Mode don't work either. Patches and drivers are up to date.

Please, anyone?

I really can't seem to get the game to work, could it have something to do that I have downloaded new drivers for my GPU, unknowning that the HD6950 isn't supported anymore?

Completely removed the drivers, and reinstalled 14.12 (from about 14 months ago), but it still crashes on startup.

Even in Safe Mode, it keeps giving me the ERR_GFX_D3D_INIT error...
