So when do you think rockstar will stop character transferring?

it is mentioned in their TOS that they can discontinue character transferring at any point when they see fit...

The question is, when will that point come?

I would have thought they would have stopped it by now, with the ever increasing modded account transferred etc you'd think a simple way to kill that is to don't have character transfer

next year or never i think....

A lot of people have transfered last xmass but yea...there are still loads of people who didnt

I personaly hope never...i honestly want the GTAO economy overall on all gens to be as f*cked up as posible so next time they atleast get their sh*t right and build a game that is not broken

Edit: on old gen it seems we might not have bilionaire days but atleast milionaire days.

every 20 sessions has like a modder in them gifting money and there are more and more people in my friendlist that become either modder or get gifted 100's of milions

Or maybe a filter that detects obvious modded accounts. It's annoying as hell seeing 8000's and 6666's.

What I want to know more is, how much warning will there be?

apart from money and ranks, modded accounts dont offer the players any advantage, so i dont see R* closing the doors any time soon.

on top of that they seem to be getting good at detecting modded accounts during the transfer procees as 5 players i know tried to transfer with modded accounts and all 5 got reset.

to be honest i see levels 8000 and i spawnkill them for fun, but it doesnt really bother me at all, after all like i said before, modded accounts dont give you the upperhand.

Imagine if they discontinued it at the same time some poor guy was transferring his character, and then his character was stuck in the ether between LG and NG.

Well i transferred few months ago and so did my friends. So if R* decides to discontinue this feature, i dont care anymore.

Seriously though. My guess would be by the end of next year. Few others games i play with transferring features have implied several times that the would stop supporting the older generation completely before the end of 2017. Maybe GTA aswell.

If they're going to inflate the price of everything, I don't see what's wrong with making a modded account just to have a semi-infinite budget to have fun with everything in the game.

For those who have "played legit" since the launch of the game and have an agenda against modded transferred account for not "working hard" as you, whoop de doo, you want a gold star and a cookie to turn that frown around or something?

If Rockstar discontinues the transfer then there will be a huge negative outcome, what about the supposed legit players who played and supported them since release and now they finally can finance a PS4 or Xbone only to find out they got cut off and lumped permanently with the cesspool of cancer in old gen?

I doubt Rockstar is that stupid, despite the many times they proved themselves to be, but they won't cut off additional revenue of more copies of GTA V being bought by long time fans. They should bite the dust and live with their hiccups.

The thing is, then the modded accounts will give money to legit players, and then there will be no point in playing legit anymore. Then Rockstar won't get their cash card money.

Cheating is pathetic, no matter what your motive is, Period. It has nothing to do about "working as hard" or not.

^^This. If someone hasn't done it by now they ain't really planning on ever doing it. Shut it down asap and stop a lot of the dodgy cheating.

You don't understand. If more modded accounts are created, more users will decide to mod. If there is no disadvantage, everybody will do it. Modders manifest themselves, that means that even if there are less modded accounts than real ones, more real ones will decide to become modded. That's how it works.

Why buy shark cards if you already have infinite money?

Look, I respect you dude, you're swell and all. We can disagree with each other right here and still move on like it didn't happen, alright? I'm all up for it.

Anyways, I understand about the fact that the legit players can still get modded money, but that doesn't really matter in my own opinion, it would be stupid to discontinue transferring the game over modders, it benefits no one and will ruin Rockstar's reputation. It can NOT be an option because people will still buy the next gen versions of GTA V if the transfers are still up, if they discontinue it would hurt their GTA V sales more than their shark cards sales and they'd rather lose the latter than the former if they have to as a company.

They could always announce a cut off date and set it up so you can transfer to the system of your choice via the Rockstar Social Club. That way PS3/X360 players can choose to transfer to PS4/X360 before the cut off date and before they buy the system. Of course this would lead to everyone on last gen to go out and get modded money before transfering.

Stopping the modded money could benefit the current gen players that can't receive modded money. Rockstar could base the prices of future items by looking at the average bank account of all players. If the average bank account is $100M+ opposed to $10M+ Rockstar could further inflate DLC items to match the average bank account. A vehicle planned for $1M could become $2M+. At that point "legit players" (which could even include players who did use glitches to gain $1M-10M+ extra, not $100M+) get screwed because they'd either have to buy Shark Cards or grind even more to get the overpriced+ items.

Ever since they patched out the actual advantages (modded roll, unlimited snacks, unlimited ammo, etc), modded transfer characters are just marked targets with no special qualities whatsoever (except swimming in cash, but who isn't swimming in cash to some degree these days).

Being Rank 8000 without the skill, experience or unfair advantages to back it up means people are just going to gang up on you.
