last time , the download speed peak at 1.90 mbps

used wi-fi and suffers hellish lag . though the cable connected to WAN instead of LAN , which i discovered that prevent me from sign out errors but instead both modem and wi-fi sometimes disconnected by itself

A Paradox from 94

0mbps download 0mbps upload

I'm moving now and have no internet. Just ordered Cox Gigablast. Coming Monday. All my cables for networking are in storage. My entire household is sharing one spoon. Help. Will come back to tell of speed.

Cox gigablast lol. I'm going to bed now, thank you.

100 mbs up/ 100 mbs down. Fiber optic connection.

I could get 1 GB/s if I wanted, but it's not worth the money atm.

If you have below 5 mbit down youre pretty much in trouble, if over youre fine. High ping is deadly to all online games. Its not just the speed. If you have a slow connection on a good router/modem, youll do fine. Fast connection on an old, cheap router/modem and you are in trouble. My old belkin router threw me in and out of sessions on a 50mbit line. My new router handles everything just fine. QOS is more important than a fast/slow line.

Mines between 30-35 download. Since upgrading I've been put in lobbies alone sometimes but have been in sessions with 18-25 people in.

How do some have almost even download and upload speeds? Do I need to do something different?

thats up to the internet provider.

as far as i know only a handful of companies offer equal download/upload speed.

its more than that, in austria u rarely get a proper upspeed (it just doesnt exist, its always a 10:1 // 5:1 ratio), on the other hand, we can pirate the hell out of the internet, those „crimes“ are in a wonderful grey zone. maybe those things are connected. the better the upseed, the rougher the laws.

I'm hard wired to my older Netgear router and average 120Mb Down and 12Mb up but when I used a Motorolla Surfboard had up to 200mb Down and 25mb Up

I get about 40-50 MB/s depending on the time/day. This is a fibre optic connection, I can get higher speeds with the same type of connection if I pay more money:

Last year I had Sky broadband. the maximum I could get was 4 MB/s. This was a ADSL telephone line connection. The provider did offer a fibre optic type connection but it was way more expensive then what I have now:

Having low speeds with GTA online doesn't really personally effect your game play too much. Since it's mostly a P2P (peer to peer) connection, each console or gaming PC share resources with others, without having to always go to GTA's server. Reminds me of torrent sharing, you're kind of reliable from others to have a decent ping, upload speed, etc. Otherwise they will think you're a greedy leecher but personally I don't really care. Having a fast internet connection is not always possible. Also Rockstar is to blame a little for being cheap, even if P2P online games are known to last longer.

In my tests I found that router settings is what made the most difference in lagging out. For example if I had certain ports open or uPnP turned on. Having a ethernet cable also makes a lot of difference when playing games with dedicated servers such as Call of duty.

Low speeds = Play GTA online and make players who have fast speeds suffer

High speeds = Play Black ops 3 and make players who have low speeds suffer

My upload speed is pants, but this provider is soooo cheap I only pay £18.50 per month total for line rental and unlimited broadband.

10ms/30D/3U for the main router, effective speed for my repeater is around 25ms/25D/3U (Living in a three-storey Villa has some bad points). GTA Online still lags most of the time.

It doesn't matter how good your connection is, if the host is some Indian guy living in a barn with 8 kids and his fat wife you're f*cked either way.

Thanks Peer2Peer!

Download: 2,1Mb/s;

Upload: 580Kb/s;

NAT type 2;

No idea about my ping though.

More interesting question; how many of you have opened/forwarded the GTAO matchmaking ports as per Rockstar's recommendation?

Well hidden, isn't it?

I tried, too much of a hassle and I ended up with lots of DNS error, so I decided to use th original setting with a cable, its little bit better than using wifi.

6mb/s down, 1.5mb/s up.

Does the game use more than 200 or 300 Mb in an hour? Not sure it does.

f*ck me I thought my Australian Internet was from the dark ages. That download speed is atrocious.

Down: 10-16 mbs on a good day 4-6 on a bad day.

Up: 600 kbs

Ping: 115 ms
