What are your tips/tricks for freemode deathmatches?

Listen...when it comes to $$$$99999RP parkour matches or any rigged sh*t like that, I am king. I make entire lobbies quit as I always find loopholes to the guns. Regular deathmatches also, mostly because they are in a confined spot where there's no distance or foul play involved as much.

But when I move to the freemode scene, I do struggle just a tad due to the much more unstable environment. I do okay(ish) but there is always that person who seems to know how to run you.

So, with that being said? When combating other players online in an open lobby, how do you go about it? What would you share? Apart from whoring out the marksman rifle..Lol.

Outrange them by using a heavy MG from farther away with the lock-on, using a sniper or a minigun works too.

Flank, flank, flank. If you can do a vertical flank (getting on a rooftop), you have practically twice as much chances to win.

Don't be afraid to blindfire or use the Assault Shotgun. Hide around corners as you're supposed to, blindfire the shotty if they get too close.

Do not fight in the open. The big problem with only playing deathmatches is that it teaches you to play in a controlled environment with plenty of cover. Freeroam is not so forgiving. It's not camping if the alternative is running out like a walking target with a neon sign politely asking for bullets to replace your eyes.

If all else fails, leave. There's no point to fighting in freeroam unless you're trying to make the other player leave or protecting your pride. In the end, you'll both lose ammo and money and have only a subjective reward.

Also, bringing a pistol to a fistfight may net you a win *cough cough parkour matches*, but bringing a Hydra to a gunfight is overkill (there is no kill like an overkill). If you're really desperate to win a FR fight and have no honor to lose, you can git gud with a Hydra and you'll be unstoppable, guaranteed. Even the supposedly hard counter, the homing missile, is easily avoided by any mediocre-to-good pilot.

... or you could just play a proper deathmatch and learn what the gunplay is all about instead of spawnkilling people in Parkour. Just saying.

Meh...I barely get on to matches without everyone leaving en masse anymore, but I get what you're saying... spawnkilling doesn't really add up to skill in the long run :)

im all the contrary... i suck in dm mode but with almost 50k player kills i can say im fairly decent in freeroam.

take cover, dont run in the open or in the middle of the street unless you have to.

dont hug the corners, you would have an rpg heading you way in no time.

always aware of your surroundings, try to lure them into a alley, leave proximity mines in the corners.

when low on health and surrounded by cops, use the easy way out.

git gud!

Fly in a jet, passive when getting shot down...repeat...

~

You gotta use the right weapons in the right situations.

If you see someone using the Marksman, don't try and spray them. Wait and bide your time till they have to move closer.

Use the grenade throw while aiming. Even if it's not in range, it will shake their screen and if sniping, will make it harder. Keep moving, never get caught still. Combat roll.

Use heights to your advantage.

Always watch your minimap. You don't want to get caught out by the player flying through at 100km/h.

Because of my nature I usually find myself taking on 2 to 3 guys by myself. Almost every single time they call me every name in the book for taking cover and staying on the run. They literally expect me to just walk out in the open and let them flank me. Lol. People are nuts.

Jerking For Soup

Only walk into clothing stores while in passive mode or in an invite only session. You do not want to be gunned down while choosing what suit to wear at your funeral.

Always keep your guard up. If you see a player holding a weapon whom is not your friend, kill him.

Use the LSC to get out of sticky situations such as wanted levels, other players etc.

Use your apartment/yacht for safety as well as comfort.

Always use fast cars when being apprehended by other players.

Be careful when using LSC. If you were hiding from me it wouldn't save you. You'd find yourself getting shot in the face while sitting in your car in LSC. Just a heads up there is a trick for that, and if somebody knows it, you're an easy victim.

I forgot to add that you should only stay in there for short periods of time like Sir TexasRocks just stated. It's perfect for getting out of situations, but it won't keep you covered for long.

Me personally has never been killed while in the LSC, but The last time I played Online with other players was back in October, so glitches may have been found, and if so, adapt to them.

I'll let those that don't know in on this one. If somebody hides from you in LSC....

Grab any car that will go into LSC.

Pull up so the door opens, but ONLY pull the front tires inside, just enough to keep the door from closing, but not far enough to suck you into the animation.

Now shoot at the mechanic.

As soon as you get the prompt, "LSC is now closed", go ahead and pull just inside the door. Get out of your vehicle and shoot the mechanic until he dies. (Could take a few seconds sometimes)

When the mechanic dies, the shop is now closed for the guy who's in LSC, and he will spawn in his car right there in front of you.

Shoot him in the face, and send him an lol message.

EDIT: I should add, don't be a dick. If somebody is minding their own business in LSC, c'mon don't be that guy. This is meant for if some jackwagon starts sh*t with you then tries to run and hide in LSC.

God...leave during a fight when losing ?

Though i leave when i smell bullsh*t like an invincible player or stuff like that....if im fighting i actualy often consider it a challenge to kill those floating heads, rpg spammers and suicide cowards :p

It are all signs such people give a f*ck about kd... while i dont...so as long as i can kill them more then they used to get killed seeing their kd(like killing a person with a kd of 6 each time he kills me 3 times), i personaly feel like im winning. :D

The only thing that anoys me beside glitchers and modders in a fight is lag and the loading distance when sniping...but yea...i cant blame the ones fighting me for that one :p

I leave any fight for dinner though...or the need to take a piss or sh*t...gtao is fun, but nothing beats keeping myself alive and healthy irl :)

When i go shopping i just watch my map every 10 seconds...i often hope someone will try something :p

Also i just kill anything that comes near...if they are friendly they shoud message me they are

Lsc to lose players is a death trap...i know by experience...of other players.

I think there are few things easier then killing someone driving out of a LSC

On using fast cars...generaly true... but it depends.

Bikes do well to and when chased by someone driving a car of the street i like to take my fully modded zion and tease them, pretending to be slower then i actualy am XD

also if someone is driving away from me it lately became a habbit to just take a hydra and chase them....because most people just wire the street behind them

Good lord I can't stand those suicide queens. I don't even mess with them anymore. As soon as they do that sh*t one time I go passive.

And yes watch out for modded accounts. It's usually easily seen by a rank over 1000 or ridiculously high KD. Things to watch out for....

One shot one kill. If you're a high level with full health, full armor, and a BP helmet, and he kills you with one shot every time, he probably had that modded in.

Fast run. If they're moving much faster than what looks normal, that's also modded in and gives them a huge advantage.

I believe there's also mods that make them harder to kill, but not positive about that one.

Any of these type people I either don't fool with at all, or resort to dirty tactics of my own. They're really a waste of time.

Well i dont know what console youre on but here on ps3....if a person with a modded rank has a kd between 5 and 20....then its a sign to be aware.

If its realy insanely high it just means the kd is modded, wich generaly in fact means you might have found the biggest noob of the whole session no joke :p

Edit: i generaly play it dirthy if the other plays it dirthy to...muggers, merryweather, increase in suicidal behaviour...:p

Yeah I'm talking about the out of this world high KDs. Yeah they probably are crappy players, but this means the account is modded. If it's modded, watch out for the all the cheats that can be modded into an account is all I'm saying. Even a noob can be dangerous with some of these cheats. Oh and btw unlimited combat rolls is another cheat I forgot mention.

I'm on ps4 btw

Choose the battleground. Let them chase you instead of you chasing them. I think this is a principle of Sun Tzu.
Still works ^_^

Man, I'm telling you I know what I've seen. Hell about a month ago some modder was showing me how fast he can run. In a foot race he was twice as fast, and bragging about all cheats he has. Some stuff I might be mistaken on due to lag or something, but I know unlimited combat rolls when I see it, and I know what that guy showed me. That was only a month, so certainly something has happened since September.,

I think it's quite hard, on the street in the city especially, to be both not in the open and not near a corner. Where abouts do you mean?

I just walk down the street straight towards them. Can't be bothered to spend the time hiding.

My golden rule about corners is simple. You must get there first. If you can get there and get set up before he can be in a position to get you with a rocket, do it. If not, make him follow you until you can set up at a corner and wait. Learn to blind fire. Peek out, set the reticle on the spot you want to hit, then when he gets there just blind fire the rocket without leaving cover.

I think the point is more so that you should never be out in the open but you shouldn't stick to one piece of cover for too long. Walking straight towards them is inviting them to kill you and sticking to one spot for too long is inviting them to flush you out with explosives.

1. Improve on your sniping skills. Most players rely on auto aim. It's uncommon to find any decent snipers. I'm still practicing on getting hits and strafing but I'm finding myself getting better.

2. Time your combat rolls and get accurate headshot kills. I kinda struggle with this. Dispite getting the first shot you still end up getting killed.

3. Aim preference. This will help alot. Find the setting that fits you the best.

4. Always have stickies, rockets and grenade launchers on you. You'll never know if a Kuruma is coming after you or at a connor.

5. This is just me but avoid anyone who abusives the suicide option or blows themselves when you nearly kill them.

If you think you're a better shot than them why hide? Spawn kill them, don't give them time to work out wjere you are and spot you. With easy ammo refill taking any cover invites the RPG. I try not to give them the chance. Edited by Sencha

1.) Make sure to abuse passive mode as much as possible, only coming out of it when you know you're going to score the kill.

2.) Have the interaction menu open during firefights, and be ready to choose the easy way out if it looks like you're going to die.

3.) Place proximity mines inside of ammunation and other various shops. Easy kills, and you can simply go passive if the victim(s) choose to retaliate.

4.) While sniping, always do so in first person while moving back and forth like a spazz. Keep firing shots and eventually you'll hit your target.

5.) Familiarize yourself with various wall breaches and the like.

6.) Try to go after low level and/or AFK players.

7.) When things just aren't going your way, leave the session.

Be extremely subtle, even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious, even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of your opponents fate.
