A dream - working for Rockstar Games

I would love to work for Rockstar games and shape the future of the company, especially as it relates to Grand Theft Auto Online. That is my rationale for posting this thread in the GTA Online section (as well as not really being sure where else to post it).

This is my dream job and I am willing to relocate to wherever they need me. Unfortunately, I have no qualifications for any of their featured jobs. I have no idea how to be a technical facial animator - I mean, I play video games all day. Still, this is America, and I have a degree in English lit, and I can dream big! Although a managerial position would of course be preferred, I am willing to start at the bottom and work my way up. For starters, I could be a tier 1 in customer service. Posting a cut and paste list of meaningless steps to fix any given problem, regardless of what it is, would bring joy rivaled only by the phantasmagoric thrill of telling modders their 20 year bans will not be lifted. Eventually, I might work my way up to the game design department, the proverbial pot at the end of the rainbow. The fans cry out for more imbalanced adversary modes as well as missions that are impossible to fill and fail as soon as the one noob idiot on your team dies.

How can I convince Rockstar to hire me? Given my lack of real world accomplishments, I'll have to focus on the virtual world. Stats obviously come to mind. I have played the game more than some small countries combined, but I'm not sure my meager KDR of 47 will impress them. Clearly, I should be playing more rhino hunt. On the other hand, I have managed to do -17 stunt jumps.

Yes, I know it's everyone for herself out there, but I can promise my gratitude will extend to the forums if I am able to land a position. I am already training a carrier pigeon to deliver vague hints to my cousin's boyfriend's uncle. Each message attached to the carrier pigeon will be written in backwards cursive using lemon juice, making them virtually impossible to trace back to me.

Jesting aside, I love Rockstar and plan to send my application in soon. Thanks for reading:)

Either irony, or applying for a post on R*'s player support team!

I am sure the R* Post Room Staff have a better just of fixing the game problems than support do....

Good luck either way.

Well this isn't really bait. It may fail utterly to be amusing, but that is the intended purpose:)

Katy Perry should be making more pop for 13 year old girls, not working for R*.

R* have probably received less well thought out and written, actual job applications than the OP.

You have a lot of learning and deception waiting for you, but either way, good luck.

You won't be enjoying working as R* Support. Even if you tell them to erase the hackers/cheaters and fix servers, they'll fire you on the spot on day one.

I guess the GTA Online section is just turning into the general section of anything at this point because nobody's giving a sh*t anymore.

OT: If working at Rockstar is your dream, you should go for it. It's actually a genius idea, they have billions of dollars. Who needs the lottery when you can get millions working for them? lol

I'd love to work to there as a concept artist :)

In fact, it really makes me wonder about the team of artists that worked on production art of GTA V. Never really seen any art regarding set designs of their story.

Isnt this OP also the one that once thought it was a good idea for people to pay real life money for something like an ingame watch ?

You might wanna take a look at R* score at glassdoor, R* got some really bad reviews there...

Also, if you don't have any proper qualifications for basic programming, the farthest that you will get there is is being a janitor, customer service(which is outsourced BTW) or maybe a beta-testing player if you got any conections in there, even then, that's really isn't a good job.

OP, it would be a dream job for me as well! I was fortunate enough to be inside the belly of the beast when I interviewed with them 2 weeks before they announced Gta V.
Unfortunately, because it was an entree level position and I would have had to move for the role I didn't get the gig.

But maybe I'll have an opportunity in the future! To this day I wear my fitted Rockstar hat and T they gave me! XD

I'm a graphic designer: http://aaronpoisson.com

You can get their attention by having qualifications. They're not going to notice you just because you play their games jeez.

If you want to affect their games like GTA Online then you'll probably need programming experience or actually have education in game development.

Just say you know ways to sell cash cards and the job is yours.

I don't think this is topic worthy. Keep dreaming though, and be sure to send me a fridge magnet when you reach the top.
