VIP crew work removed icons from other players maps?

Every time me and friends are in freemode and a VIP crew starts work all of the icons are removed. How the hell do I disable this?

I don't care about another crews work of priorities and shouldn't have my game disrupted due to it.

Are One of you VIP at the same time? I've hidden all my icons long ago so I'm not sure if them starting vip work is like a free roam event where you cant until the event is over.

 

But you can just load the job from the job list. All other pertinent icons remain.

So you can't opt out of it? Seems like whichever crew is doing vip then controls that aspect of the room. Which is balls.
