Davve95
Hi! I'm about to buy two new fans, but I'm really not good about the noice level etc. Cooler Master Jetflo 120mm PWM - Blue LED But the noise level are up in 36 dB (in high speed) Plus it is a PWM fan. So are it still noisy? Because I had 19 dB fans before and they were noisy as hell. But they were not PWM fans though and not on their highest speed. But I don't know if that makes so much sense. Thanks! . Edited March 2, 2016 by Davve95
X S
It depends, because unless you're running the fan at 100% all the time, the specified noise level is arbitrary. Noctua are supposedly the best, but they come at a price. If you can forego the ugly brown color they come in, they're worth the cost. I have 6 Noctua fans in my PC case, and the PC barely makes a peep. At night, you can't even tell it's running. They even come with Low-noise adapters that cap the RPM's. I actually rigged one into my Xbox One because it runs all night when I'm watching TV or gaming. If you're interested in knowing more about fan bearings, this can video help. Noctua's are SSO proprietor bearings. I think Corsair also offers some similar bearings fans, but I'm not sure about the model numbers.
sivispacem
I'm running two Noctua IndustrialPPCs and two Corsair SP120 Quiet Editions. To be honest, I think the Corsairs are quieter when they're both at a static RPM, though the Noctua are PWM and are on a radiator. For budget orientated fans I don't think you can go wrong with the quieter Corsairs. yoječ
First and foremost, do not compare the dB values given by the manufacturers, they don't mean anything. There's no unified noise measurement procedure for fans and thus the data cannot be compared. Testing environment and hardware can (and will) heavily affect the test results.
