Returning GTA-er, need help plz!

So I've returned to gta online and haven't played since it came out years ago. Back then I had no trouble requesting jobs from Simeon, Gerald, etc.

I know this question's been asked many times, but all the posts I've found were no help at all.

I'm now rank 12 and when I call the npcs, the request job option is always locked. All the other posts say that you just have to keep playing races, deathmatches, etc. And they'll call eventually. But other players who posted this question are at much higher levels than i. And this was never the case when I played years ago. I was playing Gerald missions at like lvl 5 back then.

I have noticed these Lamar missions right at the beginning of the game with the low riders and I've completed one and failed the second one where u gotta avoid the cops. My thinking is that things won't progress without completing these missions as if it were like story mode. It's just been a pain in the butt trying to join or invite low lvl characters to complete these missions. I've waited for close to hours for ppl to join.

I'm basically asking the question that's been asked before. How do I unlock 'request jobs'. But I'm hoping for the correct answer. The answer that isn't "just keep playing and they'll call u eventually".

you are into something which you haveto continue with first.

it might be that you have to meet trevor at the "t" on the map first and then start a survival.

until you haven't done this you cannot do anything else really.

after that you should be able to do other stuff again.

what system you got, to unlock jobs just call the person, you may get an offer of something you already done or get lucky and a new job or someone can start the ones you dont have, then once you compete in it, dont have to pass it, it will add to your contact list.
