How do you create small/round finish line checkpoints?

You can create small checkpoints by putting solid objects above it and replacing the checkpoint. This doesn't seem to be the case when you want to make the final checkpoint round (which is what I assumed) as seen in the frame below (taken from Massacre Mace's
).

Place them under something, picture above used a start prop, but any reasonably sized prop will work or any natural cover. Easiest method would be to float a water barge and place underneath, also works for any CP not just start/finish.

You also do not need to replace the CP you can put it under first time.

I've used that method on normal CP's before. But whenever I try on the final CP it stays the same and simply clip through the prop placed above it (e.g. floating platform). I'll post some pics showing what I mean. It's possible that I'm placing the prop wrong.

As you can see the CP stays the same. The start/finish gate was not set to stackable and it wasn't glitched into place. So I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've tried with other props such as container and floating platforms as well. Nothing seemed to work for me.

I don't know if height of the prop might have something to do with this or not but I have a race I made as a quick return to the start location

Hack n'Dash for mission grinding and I placed the checkpoint in the small alley next to Wax Haven/Burger Shot and it came out as a small circle

like your picture.

I basically used L3 to raise lower the height of the prop to the lowest point it would go and placed and got the circle flag to finish.

When did you create this mission race? Because the picture I showed was taken from an old video so maybe it was a glitch that have been fixed. If not I guess I just have to play around with it to see if I can make it work. No matter what thanks for your reply.

I've been meaning to investigate this myself, because I notice that besides the small round finish line checkpoints, there are regular checkpoints that are smaller than normal as well (but the activation area is the same as a normal sized checkpoint). I've eliminated the possibility that it has anything to do with the numbering of the checkpoint, so it must have something to do with the environment where it is placed. What it is, I'm not quite sure, because I get small checkpoints in areas that is flat and open that have nothing nearby.

It was some time ago so may well have been a glitch that has been corrected since.

It depends on the space around the CP. If you place a container above a CP, replace the CP and then delete the container the CP will visually be small even though the container is missing (good for guiding people in a certain direction). But I can't get this to work with the final CP.
