I'm trying to run GTA IV on an Aspire One 722, a sh*tty mini-laptop (called a "netbook") with 4GB RAM and a dual-core AMD C-60 (1GHz clock, 250MHz FSB, overclocked to 1.33GHz and 576MHz by default). I have Windows 10 installed (alongside Xubuntu).

It runs GTA SA with the "Things To Do" mod fairly well, and Battlefront II, Battlefield 1942, and GTA VC show no lag.

However, at first, GTA IV barely gets 3FPS (no typo, THREE FPS).

You need to edit the files yourself if you want 10-20FPS on this specific PC.

Here, I'll list all the changes I made to run GTA IV on this PC;

First of all, download and install the GTA IV For Extreme Low PCs mod:

http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=22657

Download and install the "Props Removal" package, too.

Next, go into your new Timecyc.dat (a MAJOR cause of lag if unmodified), and set the FarClip to around 500. The C-60 can handle many polygons, it just lags (very much) even with basic visual effects.

Then, go into the VisualSettings.dat and set car LODs to 20. I can't stand the blocky low-LOD models at point blank range...

Afterwards, open your new CommandLine.txt in the GTA IV directory and delete the top two lines (the display height/width values.)

Now, you should at least have enough framerate to go into the game settings. Turn the shadows and reflections off, and everything else on low. Then change the resolution to 1024x576, and turn definition ON, and Vsync OFF.

Now you have two choices; play GTA IV with reasonable framerate, or get (at least) a potato, since that could probably run GTA IV better than this sh*t.

ROCKSTAR MANIC

Can you upload a video of some sorts. With all due Respect, I would like to see a game like IV run on a sh*tty laptop like that. WOW I chuckled a bit, THREE FPS. Yeah, wonder how that looks?

Boy, how do you enjoy the game playing like this?

Also, what's your graphics card?

Graphics card? This sh*t doesn't even have one! The processor is a GPU/CPU hybrid.

If the CPU part sucks, the GPU part must suck as well. That's all I know.

And luckily, I have a PS3 to play GTA IV on.

The final result of my game has no boxes or traffic cones, no ladders, and no swingsets, day/night cycles that are unsynchronized with the clock, blurry textures (not as blurry as SA on PS2, though), no sky textures (just a flat color), and a third of the draw distance of standard GTA IV.

And 10-20FPS standard.

But it's GTA IV. How can one not enjoy it (or at least, a crippled version of it)?

I would upload a video, but what software should I use? I'm kinda low on money (a PH peso is worth a little more than two mthrfckn' cents [47 PHP=1 USD]), and I'd like the price of "free."

And BTW, some guy apparently ran it on a Pentium IV with a quarter f#ckin' gig of RAM.

Well on my laptop which has 4GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4400 and a 1,8GHz processor it doesn't even run on the lowest setting. I need to run it in boxed mode and it looks even worse than ride to hell. It would have been playable if the draw distance was normal.
