I have this innate need to blow s**t up in GTA. Must be something to do with me being an attack helicopter.

I get my cousins, Savage, Buzzard, and Valkyrie, to do my bidding.

It's awesome if you can call in an Airstrike before anybody notices...

Many lulz are had.

Best thing is, if you do it right, you won't pay any insurance or get badsport!

Because they think it's funny.

If you become part of a crew that does this kind of events regularly, it is less likely to happen.

ASAP as some fart on the mic starts talking in a bossy manner to do 'the thing they want to happen or they will kick anyone who doesn't listen' I simply blow up everything in sight and leave before i can get kicked.

Why? Well like irl, i cannot take orders from others. It just pisses me off, so i piss in their face.

Well, meets obviously have rules you need to follow.

If the host is asking everyone to do a certain thing, just do it.

But it's very different if they say it in a bossy manner like you said. If they act cocky, bossy or arrogant, then I'd agree completely with you.

Last car meet i had on PS4, this idiot host was pretty much acting like a young Hitler. In the end the car meet turned into a ''grieving the host fest'' untill he left the lobby, LMAO.

Whilst it's a d-bag thing to do, you're pretty dumb to hold a car meet or anything like that in a public session.

I always attend them. In passive. Get out of your car and it's not ghostly, but you are. They can blow up your car, but you're completely safe.

I love blowing up peoples cars during car meets. Some days I specifically drive around looking for people that do car meets just to ruin it.

Seems like it's 2013 all over again.

Seriously OP, and as many have directly said - they enjoy unleashing their inner asshole. There is a sizable group people that revel in being assholes in GTA - if it moves kill it. If someone or a group are minding their own business f*ck it up for them - sadistic joy to be had! You have to plan that you will run into one of these types and take precautions to avoid it. Want to do a carshow? Invite or Friends only, definitely a closed group. Strictly manage attendance.

I only have done mini-car shows with friends. The public invitations such as invitations via this forum or console mass messages are a sure fire to get a sadistic types attention.

This is nothing new though. The only thing new is your thread.

If you go in knowing there will be a sadistic type that will be *looking* to blow up the car show, you can plan around them and keep them away from you.

Cheers.

OP never said the meets were in a public session, guys. He just stated that car meets are fun but he doesn't understand why people ruin them:

car meets are fun but i do not understand why people like to ruin them :(

I actually like trolls as they define the other players who wants your meet to succeed. You can generally spot your new regulars if they support you when you ask them to kick the troll or if you make a new lobby and they ask to be invited. Also, trolls help shape yourself up. It keeps you on your toes, alarmed but relaxed in chaotic situations and are, in my opinion, an important part in making a host great. If a host can jump back from a troll attack and have a smooth meet, you know that host will keep hosting. It separates the good from the great. Not to toot my own horn but I seem to be one of the few hosts (apart from dedicated crews) that has a banlist that has more than a couple names. I keep all records of trolls with feedback post links (I explain the situation in a feedback post and link it in the banlist so it's archived) and acts as a good barrier against regular trolls looking for a quick fix.

because most of the people who organise them are c*nts.

Completely agree with you on that one. I really miss the old Forza days where people would show up to a random meet session, have lunch while chatting with others, race/drift and just have a good time. I easily spent hours in one session just jumping from race track to race track and we'd find spots to park up, drift a corner or do drag races. GTA meets are a bit different to what Forza meets that I've experienced - the meets that I fell in love with were those that people showed up with cars and had a good time. There's plenty of those around here, sure, but there's also plenty of meets where it's an army drill; show up, park up, vote (the worst ones are those that don't have voting), follow the leader to a few parking spots and then the host goes off to play Call Of Duty after an hour. It's really infuriating when that happens as you're left feeling like a cheap whore for a one-night stand. No friendship formed, no fellow players, just "please me for an hour, peasants!" hosts and attendees that want to join the cool crowd. It's really depressing to learn that people who join horrible meets and are left with the impression that all meets are bad because of their experience in that particular meet. Meets follow the same formula but each host brings something special to the table. If they don't then it's a bad meet and the sad fact is that most hosts are a copy and paste of each other; indistinguishable from one another. I've read so many posts on this forum that people had bad experiences in meets and vow to avoid them because of that.

I've started dabbling a lot in the no-host form of meets where pre-made races placed with checkpoints indicate a change of leader, so the leader follows a pre-made route but can set the pace and choose his own routes to go towards said checkpoint. That way people feel they play a role in leading the pack for a bit and makes the meet a much more interactive event. It's an interesting format that's been around for a while and I'm hoping more meets take on that format. It's gonna help finding regulars as well as inspire those that want to host their own meets by getting a small taste of what it's like to be at the front of the pack.

OP is unaware of Invite Only or Friend Only sessions.

People who join meets in Invite Only can also invite their own friends which is what most meets are typically hosted in yet trolls still show up (friends of attendees). Unsure about the Friends Only but I think that those may work as, I think, the host of the lobby needs to be-friend everyone joining. I haven't played with Friends Only enough to make that clear, though.

Why can't meeters go passive if not an invite only session? No sympathy for stupid people.

Again, not stated OP was in a public session but the passive mode is interesting. The car is invisible so it's not great for voting/cruising around but it's great to avoid crashes into each other as many like to follow the guy in front of them like there's a sticker on the bumper they want to scratch off with their fingernails. Doubt that passive mode for meets is gonna catch on, though, as meets are all about showing your car off and having your car invisible sucks.

I looked into joining some car meets on GTA out of boredom, and long before this thread popped up, I had figured that, since this GTA, home of lots of explodey things, that joining even the properly organised invite-only meets is probably a bad idea.

This thread reinforces my reluctance really.

Car meets aren't where its at. What used to be the best thing to do WAS:

(When you could give away modded cars)

1. Being in a public lobby and listening in on game chat. Find out some kids are building a car/s for a lower rank and giving them away. Either for cash$$ or so they have an upgraded car.

2. Find out which LSC they are hanging out by. Go there and camp up high or just chill in a corner not bothering them.

3. When they drive out of LSC to do the hand off...... WHAMMY! Smoke the car before the exchange.

4. Watch and listen in enjoyment of the suffering, while both parties lose money/a modded car.

5. Repeat if they are stupid enough to try and do it again.

One time I did this I was able to troll these kids 3 times in a row....... they just didn't understand.

This of course was last Gen only seeing as they patched giving away modded cars awhile ago. It was a blast to say the least.

A better idea would've been to kill him and then drive it back in to LSC yourself and sell it.

Its funny when you throw an airstrike flare and everyones like "stop shooting flares you can burn cars with them". Little do they know.

I'm a level 95 Invite Only session grinder trying to save up for a Buzzard and I've always wondered what good airstrikes were for. Now I understand! :colgate:

I look at it like this. If its a free roam then its open season on anything who's not a friend or crew member. If its a invite only and you've been invited...don't be a dick or "that guy"....unless the meet really deserves it. IE kiddies, bumper car maniacs ect.
