Are Heists Done?

New Red Dead supposed to be out at the end of the year. I bet most R* dev efforts are being directed at that.

I bet most of Rockstar San Diego developers efforts have been directed at if for awhile, possible since after Red Dead Redemption/Max Payne 3. Besides, how much do the other Rockstar Studios contribute to a different studios game, such as the development of GTA V/Online? Similarly how much help would San Diego need with a new Red Dead? The title has likely been in production for the last couple of years. Redemption took them 5 years to make. I'd assume Renegade would have been in production since 2013 at the latest. (Assuming the rumors are true and San Diego is the one making it. After all, they did have the working conditions some of the developers complained about during Redemption's production.)

Besides Rockstar North and Rockstar San Diego, we don't know what Rockstar Leeds has been up to either. It wouldn't be much of a stretch to think they could be the ones working on that rumored Liberty Story DLC in place of Rockstar North. Afterall, their history with GTA has been reusing past locations created by Rockstar North for a new game. They did GTA III, with GTA: Liberty City Stories, GTA: Vice City with GTA: Vice City Stories, and to an extent GTA IV with GTA: China Town Wars. I think they could do a good job of bringing over IV'S map to V/Online while adding the same changes they did to the 3D Liberty City and Vice City to represent the Cities in a different year from their original Rockstar North game. Plus they can reuse elements they added to China Town Wars, such as drug dealing and the Scratch Cards. (The scratch cards would be a good first with the DS5's trackpad.) I'd really like to see what Leeds could do with IV'S map and V's engine when compared to their previous GTA titles. They could sell it as a $30-40 GTA V Story/GTA:Online map expansion.

I'm sure we'll see new heists sometime in the future. Heists was a huge success and it's no surprise that more heists would keep people playing.

Of course, it'd be a huge undertaking, but more heists would definitely be possible. I'd like to see them.

Rockstar has been working 24/7 to create heists that are even easier to troll and easier to fail. It's a massive rework. It's going to take some time.

:p

Here's the sad truth: there will be no more heists. Rockstar followed through on a promise and that was that. Personally, if they're going to function like the heists we've been given, I'd rather they put their efforts elsewhere anyways. They really botched it with the whole "everyone needs to survive" to complete it bullsh*t. This would have been much more fun if you could die during the heist (and setup) and your take was then divided by those who survived. There's a reason that only two heists are actually played and why the "tutorial" is one of them.

...I'm happy there aren't any more heists, I don't think I could put up with that sh*t any longer. Just play Sightseer for 22k and bask in the enjoyment that you didn't have to wait for 30 minutes to get a full crew of 4 jackasses that make you fail 6 times all while earning you 20k for an hour's worth of work...f*ck heists.

Forget asking for more heists, I'd settle for a half dozen new contact missions. FFS, relative ROI for Rockstar on this game has been all-time huge and they've abandoned most of the modes of game play in favor of the free-mode nonsense. They make no sense.

Pac Standard Finale is still something to grind, but yeah the game is pretty much dead for me, sadly.

Maybe they're just thinking about possible set-ups. If they make a heist with a set-up we already seen in another mission - for example, we steal yet another batch of bikes or another smuggler plane, the crowd will bitch and moan and wish for something new.

Maybe they're just too lazy to make something worthy in LS and Blaine County.

Or maybe they think Los Santos is overused already, everyone seen everything and it's time for a new city with new opportunities. Liberty City could have a few - a big bank, that museum from the "Not So Fast", something in the docks to do with drugs, something in Rotterdam Tower - a deal or a mafia meeting to ambush.

Of course, there is that "storm" we need to explain and buildings to rework. But at least we have a mock up. It's not like making Las Venturas or San Fierro from scratch - or so I think, they mighty have been working on it for some time already.

Maybe they're taking their time making new interiors in LS. Maybe they could be reworking some Max Payne 3 interiors - 55th Batalion HQ could be reworked as NOOSE HQ, Galatians FC stadium indoor space could be reworked as a Maze Bank Arena's indoor space.

But, hey, they may just not care about heists now. MOAR ADVERSARY MODES AND 2X CASH RP EVENTS EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NOTHING NEW TO SPEND IT ON.

Eh, who knows them. I would love another batch of heists. I would be a bit disappointed if Lester's talk about new jobs turned out to be bullsh*t.

Now last gen is not in the game anymore i realy wonder what the excuse is to not make more.

I mean...ok they said they were complicated...but yea...exept for the first weeks being hell...they were realy worth it

Then again its mainly because having to finish sertain challenges and unlocking things and getting a good pay check.

If they just implement cars being unlocked for sertain time challenges around rockstar created races and weapons unlocked for finishing with sertain KD ratio's in deathmatches and such and buff the payout more and keeping in mind the quiters(the more people joined, the higher the payout) i think other jobs woud become more interesting

Somehow I still enjoy attempting the elite challenges but other than that I am sick of them.

Heists have been a disaster since day 1. Horrible connection issues have ruined heists since the beginning. Not too mention on ps3 they are almost impossible to host from public lobbies and cause a huge lag fest in apts.

I think that there is something in the game engine that makes making new content into game a tediously hard thing. Contact missions seem to be really popular, and technically there hasn't been any more in ages. Heists are popular, they made five in a few YEARS, and even had to do them twice.

R* has always made great content, IV had two great add-on episodes, and new games best advertisement has always been previous title. They really haven't advertised nearly as much as many other, because the titles and fanbase have done it. Looking back on that, I do believe that they are willing to keep GTA:O running for quite a while, but quality of the content is down to how hard, slow and expensive it is to keep it rolling. They will keep it alive even after sharkcard-dryouts if it is viable option to advertise next title, and keep players on their products.

There won't be anymore Heists that claim to be heists that are big like the ones we had, in terms of what they will be would depend on how much time they need to put into them. They spent a long time fixing the concept of Heists because it didn't work properly, now they have a formula and it would be easy to implement that into some more heists, however... it takes a while to come up with the idea alone. It needs to be good, it needs to mesh in with everything around it, it needs to make the new things added make sense. They they have to sketch and storyboard, and then they have to do all the really hard time consuming stuff like modeling and texture middling. If we do get more heists (because they didn't say no) we more than likely won't get them unless they've been working on them since the last heist update came out.

It's not the system, it's just time. They are more than likely working on something big, really big. Heists take probably the longest time to design and create, where as the adversary modes are take 5 hours and a team of 4, contact missions are somewhere in between. What ever is going on in the background down there is big enough to not be making missions.

No new heists. Rockstar confirmed that it took them a lot of time to put together. Not sure why honestly... they don't seem THAT complex. There's only like.. 4 missions that actually require multiple pieces to come together at once. Most of the heist missions are pretty basic like "Steal this truck and drive down the road."

Heists are probably done yeah. Here's what I think we need:

A ton of new missions, some new vehicles (including that one I won't name), a few weapons (like the cut XM-25), and greatly improved customization for female characters/clothing.

This would give the game a little boost, and could be a farewell DLC for this map. Then, we move onto a map expansion or new game.

Yeah, they must have some sort of adversary mode-designer software. Well, they are quite a bit like deathmatches, guess that they just throw them together on dm creator... There are some adversaries that can be fun, but they NEED many players, preferably all with mics and ones that are friends prior. Not happening in my life. Those 3 other players elude me bad enough.

...

Now that last gen is not in the game anymore, the number of players who will actually be attracted by new heists or any other DLC is only a fraction of what it was back when the heists came out.

Given that, I'm surprised that Rockstar is even bothering to put out any DLC at all, other than lazy, easy stuff that they already had the framework for. And it looks like this is what they are doing.

The original Heists that were suppose to be in Online at launch pretty much sucked ass according to Rockstar. So they scrapped the whole thing, and restarted from scratch. Hence why it took about a Year, and a half to finally be released. Despite some flaws, I think they did a pretty decent job with them. Now that they have the basic template for how the Heists work, making new ones shouldn't be that hard. It's more on creative's end so they don't all seem redundant. I've seen many cool ideas on here for new Heists. Maybe Rockstar will take notice and eventually make a couple more. Although their big hard-on recently seems to be with these crappy Adversary Modes, so who knows.

You still have half the player base learning to make sense of the basic instructions given to them in heists, and you're already expecting more heists?

Heists took longer than R* expected, but look at it this way, they were venturing into an unknown so it took way longer to smooth out. Now that Heists are out, R* should have a better handle on getting them right the first time. Probably not a top priority, but I would take a new Heist over all of the time wasted on creating these worthless Adversary Modes. Like it has been mentioned before, most of a Heist is just basic contact missions strung together. What sucks for us is, if Heists are done, so many potential amazing Heists are left undone. 2 I would love to see:

Casino

A Gone in 60 Seconds type Heist

Even something involving the Military Base or having to hijack a plane midair. Hopefully this isn't the end..........

Now that would be something pretty cool. Kinda similar to that Trevor mission. Have it split in 2 Teams. One is in charge of getting on the Plane while the other provides air support.

This game is done.

Get out of here Troll, every post you have is negative and doesn't help the discussion what so ever. Get a life and find something else better to do.

Rockstar said Heists were more difficult than expected, but they never once said they were not doing anymore either.

I can honestly see them releasing 2 heists very soon because it's been a year since they released the first batch.

Im not concerned about most other players.

Most other players their sole purpose is to lose from me in any competitive mode because thats the only thing they are good at and ever will be good at...no way they coud ever become usefull anyhow

I just don't see a reason to have more heists if a large portion of the player base already struggle with the current ones. This is why I stick to contact missions, because randoms seem to mess up and die less. I mean, you could probably complete like three contact mission in the time it would take to complete one heist setup or finale. Plus, heists are easy as f*ck to troll, since anyone can just commit suicide within the first 10 seconds and fail the entire thing. Players can leave or disconnect and the whole thing just fails.

Contact missions are much more reliable and efficient, in my opinion at least. They also don't fail due to the fault or scumbaggery of one player.

There actually were few leaked audio files from new heists somewhere on this forum. If anyone still has a link to that thread post it here please. One player had to get into the gay club and steal a keycard or something

Edit: this is it I think

Dont got problems with randumbs suiciding on purpose for a looong time.

Also...i made heist friends...and though it needs a friend list to be maintained every 2 weeks because most people come and go....looking back at the fun had and my bank acount....totaly worth it :)

Right, but you shouldn't be forced to play with friends/crew members in order to complete a setup. If you can do contact missions without being forced to play with friends, then you should be able to do so in heists. But people either die way too much, or they don't follow basic instructions. Or maybe they're trolling for whatever reason.
