Are Heists Done?

In a few weeks we will be on the 1 year anniversary for the release of Online Heists - several co-op missions with a vignette in between culminating in a teamwork heavy "heist".

Since Story DLC is unlikely at this point, and a map expansion is unlikely at this point, and GTA VI is unlikely at this point and online micro transactions have R* rolling in money:

Why can't we have more heists?

  • It took a year(s) to fine tune and finalize the actual product.
  • The process should be refined at this point.
  • There's plenty of money to pay for further development
  • They could further develop the mechanics of the heists
  • They could invent solo heists
  • They could create a Heist creator (with limited pay)

So why not?

Heist creator  takes Rockstar a year and expects us to create one in 30 minutes.

Rockstar already stated there most likely won't be anymore heists.

I wrote up a few heists myself, however I knew Rockstar wouldn't add them regardless of how much better they were... Shame... Heists were so much fun at the time... Now it's just... Stale...

But yeah, a Heist Creator would be a lot of fun to experiment with, and it would allow Rockstar to go into cruise control for a while if they get it right the first time... Some great content would be pumped out and Rockstar wouldn't need to worry about the demand for more heists because theres a limitless supply.

Hi OP

Rockstar made a huge effort giving us heists, they even stated in their interviews that the implementation of heists had been a massive draw on their resources, and that they were compelled to give them to us because of all the promises and marketing beforehand. I don't think they'll be giving us new heists any time soon.

I think there are more important things for Rockstar to concentrate on now.

Hey super helpful as always.

Go ask them.

Jenkiii,

It took development, Imran or whatever his name said that they could easily implement the base strategy of how it works now when they originally came out at release. Look at the Low Riders "missions" the base seeds are there.

It costs money and makes zero money (it may even facilitate losses due to it being easier to get money yourself instead of shark cards). No meaningful pros, multiple cons.

Heists are likely to happen at some point. Although I'd say we'd likely see a story DLC or m]ap expansion first. Rockstar also said they wanted to focus on other things besides Heists. Currently we've had: Freeroam Events, Hydraulics + second vehicle shop, VIP Status + VIP activated Freemode Events. We'd likely see other updates that introduce new ways to play and spend money. A few I'd like to see are:

Casino update + Poker/Blackjack, Video Poker/Blackjack, Roulette, Slots and Horse Race Betting

Maze Bank Arena Indoor Dirt Track update + Demolition Derby/Demolition Derby Races, Trailer Races, Monster Truck Freestyle Competitions (Could include a series of co-op/solo missions that have you compete against the AI for players that want PvE.)

Lowrider 2 update + Lowrider Challenges

Nightlife update + Dancing and Drinking mini games

(Lowrider Challenges and Dancing would use the same game mechanic/scoring mode, so they'd get two "new" modes/updates by adding the one system in.)

I don't understand why they took so much time to give us heists. Seriously, just look at the gameplay. They are basically contact missions with cutscenes and a story behind. With the exceptions of the Fleeca finale(because it has two new minigames we don't find in contact missions), two stealth missions, PB Finale(which is simple, but still a prison break), Trash Truck setup and the Vans setup, everything else is almost the same thing.

Stealing documents or drugs, stealing vehicles like trailers or helicopters, killing targets, rescuing someone etc, all this stuff we have in contact missions.

Missions like TLSC and Stock and Scares could easily be made into heists. In the Pacific finale we have that stupid hack minigame, while in the mission Stocks and Scares we have a more complex hacking method and then we still need to break a safe. Just a few examples.

No Use For A Name

Casino update + Poker/Blackjack, Video Poker/Blackjack, Roulette, Slots and Horse Race Betting

Idea: use JP earned and convert to coins that can be used for gambling. A payoff at the casino after a hard day's work, if you will. Only currency accepted is JP, so no problems with kids gambling online with real-world Shark Card money.

Enh honestly I couldn't care less about Heists, or the addition of more. Fleeca & Pac Standard are fine-though-boring ways to make a quick chunka change, the others were fun the few times I did them but I want to see even more Free Roam additions. That's where the full potential of GTAO really comes forth.

I hope they will make more heists in the future (the far future it will probably be though).

On that topic I would like to see more 2 player heists in the future because they might be a bit easier to implement and complete (complete as in not being incredibly frustrating to complete) which could lead to more heists released more often. Just my thoughts.

Heists was probably the most successful update, I'm pretty sure we'll get at least 2 or 3 more.

I didn't read the OP, or any replies, but if you think that heists are done, you're f*cking deluded.

The format of the Lamar missions should be proof enough.

Honestly, I would much rather a mission creator. That would be something we are more likely to see and something that would be easier for R* to implement as we already have most of the tools required spread out between the other job creators.

This game is done.

Then why you still here? Leave. Come on, get out of here, SCRAM!

In all out words appearances that is what they seem, but R* stated they put a lot of effort to make sure that at all times, every person involved has something to do. And honestly, few games have as quality of a co-op experience as what Heists provide.

If I'm not mistaken Lester leaves it open ended when you complete Pac Standard that there *could* be more. Keep in mind, technology is changing and heists were started, aborted, restarted and finally released in 2015 while being in development between last gen and current gen. Last gen is gone, so those issues aren't a factor anymore. In the last six months especially, R* has been upping their attention to GTA:Online. Thus, those old statements about "no more heists" may not be reflections current reality, attention and focus R* is giving the online part of the franchise.

I recall an interview where they essentially said that resources are being repurposed into Online. Further, Take Two's bigwig said microtransactions (read Shark Cards) are the gift that keeps on giving. With those two little pieces of info it would seem that R* has a vested interest in keeping the online portion of the game supplied with content that isn't just reskinned guns and cars.

The Adversary modes have been extremely hit and miss. I'd wager a guess that the adversary modes are way below missions and heists in terms of popularity. Even if the payouts sucked on new heists, if R* wants to keep the shark card train rolling - give people a reason to buy those cards. That means quality playable content and expensive goodies to buy with those funds. Remember when heists dropped if you bought everything that unlocked after you finished Pac Standard, it was a wash financially even with the all in order and first time bonuses. Only if you did Criminal Mastermind did you really profit from them. Additional run throughs netted you say, a couple million tops each time?

I could easily see a Hiests 2.0 with additional vehicles followed by hugely expensive DLC a month or two later. It may not be this year, but to keep interest up they have to do something that keeps people coming back. The quickest way for R* to let the microtransactions wither on the vine is to let the online iteration lumber on with unpopular poorly played new content. Letting people make the money, giving them good content then a expensive DLC that would make even a money glitcher wince would drive their cash cards no doubt.

The online part of this game isn't "done." GTA:Online is in it for the long haul. It's a cash cow.

My money is on a new set of heists if not this year, then next. At a very minimum they'll be another set before GTA VI launches.

I'm sure we'll see new heists sometime in the future. Heists was a huge success and it's no surprise that more heists would keep people playing.

Of course, it'd be a huge undertaking, but more heists would definitely be possible. I'd like to see them.

You got a like just for your sig.

So. Many. Memories.

Agreed. GTA:O just had one of it's busiest weeks since launch. The game is nowhere near dead.

New Red Dead supposed to be out at the end of the year. I bet most R* dev efforts are being directed at that.

It took them a while just to release the last five heists, (actually they got delayed too). It just takes too much time to iron out all the bugs and glitches so don't expect any more, as much as I love the idea...

I'm sure they know everyone wants more heists, but if it isn't profitable enough, probably won't be more anytime soon.

Though I would love a Casino heist.

And some sort of gold bullion heist.

And more bank heist.

And better matchmaking.

There are other fleeca banks on the map that look accessible. Plus the hangar at fort zancudo that opened after last years heist update has yet to be explained.
