Problems joining friends/crew

Hi all -

 

Me and a couple of buddies recently started playing (PC) and we seem to be having lots of problems hooking up. We can pull each other into various Jobs, but can't seem to get into the same instance/server to Free Roam. We are in the same Crew and also on each other's Friend's list.

 

When I log on and see one of them already logged on (via my my Friends list), I try to Join Friends but it comes back saying it can't find a compatible game and puts me into a random game - is there a Rank range we have to meet?

 

I've also had the issue where I try the "Join Friends" option but it doesn't allow me to single out which Friend to join?

 

Alternatively, if I'm the first one on and start a Closed Crew game, when they log on should they do the same? Seems like in the few times we've tried this it doesn't work as well?

 

How do you guys do it if you just want to play with Crew or Friends?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Having a ton of fun so far learning the ropes, just need to figure out a few of these minor irritations heh.

This right here is my biggest complaint with this game. Sometimes it takes literally over an hour to play with friends. They are all in party chat but I keep getting a message that the player no longer is in the session. Bullsh!t! 7 of them are definatly still in that lobby becuase I am talking to them. It is a constant problem. Almost all my old gta buddies quit playing for this exact reason. Sometimes you spend more time loading than playing the damn game. Then you get in and someone else drops out. WTF! I have ZERO issues with every other game so it is with out a doubt a rockstar issue.

One thing I don't understand -

 

If I jump online (PC) and see one of my Crew mates on and I select (from story mode) "Closed Crew" session, will I join his game or start a completely new session?

 

I ask this because if I choose 'join Friend' or 'join Crew member' I always get the 'Incompatible' error message and it then throws me into a server with randos.

 

Really &&^%*( frustrating - wish I could figure out the secret to just reliably and quickly playing with with only Friends/Crew (at least for now).

Im on xbox one and its frustrating trying to get together, a literal miracle when its a success. And yes Ive tried the typical hour trying to join with friends. I keep getting the "session no longer exists message" or the "player is not in session" even when they are playing in literal same room with me on another tv and console right next to me !

Not being able to play with your friends is a feature! But seriously, try invite only session, I find they are the best solution even though nothing is 100%.

This problem seems to be so common that I'm sure people have sought solutions off rockstar , I'd be interested to know what their official line is on this surly they can't blame OUR .Connection for this one ,.... can they ?
