Free mode pvp is the life blood of GTAO. Always will be.

That's why R* finally expanded on the Free roam forumula with VIP and more random PVP events like king of the hill. Because that's what people wanted in the game. I would say they know better than us.

They know much, much better than us. In all aspects of game development. 1 billion dollars in 3 days. Most of the whiners seem to be under 18 and have no concept of how the real world functions. If I buy a steak that tastes like cardboard I don't go inside and scream at the wait staff. I go to a different restaurant.

What can you do? The times they are a changin' my friend.

Yep. If you don't roll with them they will roll right over you.

Well one thing about the poll. Just because someone says no to "do you want less adversary modes" doesn't mean people don't want more contact missions or whatever else. I bet R* got some new missions brewing for an update soon. They concentrated on Free Roam improvements and Lowriders, Lamar missions. Now they gave a little love to the PVP mode players. Maybe it didn't go over well but at least now they'll know to concentrate on something else. I want gambling and horse racing, for instance.

They just need a filter since there are so many of them now. I assume that I am like most people, in that I enjoy SOME of them, but not ALL of them. But I can never get a lobby to fill up if I try to host one, and joining quickly via the phone rarely gives me one I want.

Give us a menu, with a list of checkboxes for all 12 or however many there are and let us tick or untick the box next to each one. THEN let us use the phone to join a quickjob for only the filtered jobs we selected.

This gives the player control, and won't fragment the number of players for each job. People just quit or cancel when one they don't like comes up anyway, forcing the matchmaking to pick up new players or further clogging the system up with people leaving lobbies or quitting when it launches, etc.

If people are guaranteed to get one of the AMs in their list, they will be less likely to leave. Matchmaking will actually improve and be faster than the current method of throwing entire hordes of people at random AMs and seeing what sticks (not much).

Well said! This would also be a tremendous help in improving matchmaking for Captures (RAID/Hold/Contend, etc.) and Deathmatches (Team/Normal/Vehicle).

I want more military weaponry and attack boats. Maybe one day we will both get our wishes.

I agree with you on the attack boats; they would provide some much-needed impetus for watercraft-based players (would ratchet up Piracy Prevention a notch or two), and generate more water-based gameplay and variety in general--even being able to use an attack boat on missions like Crystal Clear Out for example.

This sort of complaint comes up often.
TLDR, Adversary modes are easier to produce than balanced PvE missions.

Once again, we have a "f*ck R* I hate R* see you all tomorrow on the R* game that I love" situation.

It's free content. If you paid for a season's pass expecting for PvE stuff (heists for example is a valid complaint circa 2014 since it was in the trailer for the online to begin with in 2013) then you have a legit beef, but I'd love for one of the fashionable haters here to point to another game that cranks out more free content years after release. You don't have to play it, I don't understand why it makes you upset.

GTA IV online only saw slight adjustments per release of the DLC, and split the playerbase to those who had the relevant DLC upgrades. This is a constant rollout of content, of COURSE we get more adversary stuff than heists/contact missions etc etc.

I don't even play adversary stuff too much (Slasher was the last new one I tried that I remember, didn't even do TDDUP yet as I haven't much interest) but it doesn't make me angry. That's weird, people.

Not a troll, but this thread and others like it come off as more entitled than a Jimmy De Santa neck tattoo.

Dude, if they only let you breed your own horse. That would be just too good. It's all I would do, just sit up in my skybox with binoculars and gamble away my millions. But yeah, looks like the whole gambling thing is a long shot, but I'm still praying every day.

tbh I'm just happy they are treating gta online like a 'real' online game and are keeping momentum going...

besides, no publicity is bad publicity, and they want people playing the game... new sh*t is new sh*t.

Exactly. All people focus on is the negative. A DLC comes out with a bad car they forget about the 40 good cars that came prior. You don't have to play this mode. They act as if upon booting into a session the game launches them into rhino vs dune buggy and they are the dune buggy with no quit option. It's called another option people and in your case don't choose it.

And you come across as a Nazi, telling us what things we have the right to complain about.

Every time I see one of these soulless adversary modes released, I see a wasted opportunity. We could have so much more stuff that people actually wanted, and instead we get something 90% of us don't want.

Most of this "free" content is just stuff that was cut from the game so they could resell it anyway. Look at the Hydra, the Dodo, the Savage - all of those are either in old trailers, or had files within the game.

From what I've seen, people are actually complaining more that they can't filter the ones they don't like. That to me is a far more valid criticism which transcends the whole I just don't like PVP modes argument. It's a technical issue, and R* could probably make the filter system more robust. I bet they will eventually. It's not a some huge deal though. Even if you get into one you don't like just back out, like people do when they hop heist lobbies looking for that sweet Pac Standard finale.

Edit: Actually, can't you just make a playlist of teh good ones?

Haha. Yeah, I was just complaining the other day about how the nightshade is too slow. Definitely needs a buff. I'm a hypocrite, what can I say? I'm not gonna demand R* change anything though. It would be awesome if they did. I'm not about to start a whole thread about it.

Well, I did not like the first AMs, because they were pretty imbalanced, so I can kind of understand when people dislike them in general. But 3-4 of them are decent, one is great.
I never understood why a lot of people liked Slasher so much, for me it is one of the worse ones. My favourite is Drop Zone - by far. I play a few rounds almost every day with crew/friends vs. randoms. Extraction is pretty good, Offense Defense is a great mode actually. But when you play them with randoms, they can be more frustrating than heists with randoms.

Regarding Drop Zone, the default options and stupid hosts are an issue. I only host my own, since nobody follows the unwritten rule to set teambalancing on and only start with an even amount of players. And if they do this stuff, they set rounds to 4, which is too much for people, especially when they are losing. So they quit, teams get unbalanced. But actually Drop Zone and the racing ones are the only really balanced AMs.

But yeah, after one year of constant AM updates, it is simply about time for a new heist. We only had the Lamar missions in this year, and they would have been perfect under the heist label, but like this, only noobs play them, fail, and the regular players don't play them, although they are actual very good missions. LS still has potential for 10-30 missions that are different from those we already have. And I expect them to come, I bet my disc plus my account that we get decent PvE stuff until summer. Don't know if it's going to be implemented good though.

Yet it's okay for you to come down on someone else's opinion and call them a Nazi, just because they're noticing aboard the hate train?

Oh, and you might want to fact check. I recall the Hydra being found in the Flight School update, which also added the animations used for heists. Even then, it wasn't like they had it finished, and to a point to where a modded could access it... Also how did they cut content it to "sell" later, when they didn't "sell" anything? If you're going to imply shark cards, guess what? If it was in since day one you would still have to buy it, it's not like it would have been handed out for free.

As for wasted opportunity, how many hours do you think was wasted creating these new AMs? I highly doubt they could have created "so much more stuff" with the time it took someone to make a new, and very barebones, AM. It's not like it took all their development resources to make a simple game mode that uses assests already in the game. Drop Zone would've taken far more hours to create than Rhino Hunter/Every Bullet Counts/Running Back, since they to created new team clothing for it. (Which even then was primarily changing colors for existing in game models. That still wouldn't have taken as much time invested compared to making the Halloween masks.)

His opinion is that no one is allowed to criticize these modes.

Take a look at the first trailer for GTA V - you can see the Hydra in that. You can also see the Dodo.

There are also files in the game for a vehicle called a "Hind" (which is the Savage). Those were in since the start.

This whole "no one can complain, it's free, you're all entitled" sh*t got old fast. It's like a bad joke. And if anyone actually believes in the s**t they spew out, they're either a troll (like shadow), or a Nazi. They may also be a terrorist.

Edit: Actually, can't you just make a playlist of teh good ones?

Not sure. If someone were to archive this stuff I bet every thing has been complained about 1000's of times. Trees too tall. cars too slow. Titan too long. Pathetic IMO

Haha. Yeah, I was just complaining the other day about how the nightshade is too slow. Definitely needs a buff. I'm a hypocrite, what can I say? I'm not gonna demand R* change anything though. It would be awesome if they did. I'm not about to start a whole thread about it.

Exactly. They are things I don't like about the game. I adapt and move on.

With Adversary Modes it all comes down to personal preference and taste for play style. I personally think it's a way to give the community some content as filler until the next BIG thing.

And our crew actually love Adversary Modes. Dropzone being one of the best, we also enjoy Slasher, Hasta LaVista, and Hunting Pack.

We'll try out Rhino Hunt today.

Keep in mind not all updates everyone will like and content that's created for GtaOnline is conceptualized and implemented by different teams while other teams are working on other content.

I've got a feeling a big DLC will drop soon, last time they did this much extra payouts before a big release was a year ago just before heists.

Good to see so many people in unison on how crappy and pointless Adversary Modes have become.

And good to see how many people are not fooled by Rockstar's attempt to make weekends more exciting with crappy filler.

Good post, you expressed things better than I could. At least Rockstar are trying to give us something interesting to do on 'in between' weekends, but a lot of people are frustrated with their marketing output - WOW posters, tanks and rhinos, artwork... the latest big thing. It's marketing bullsh*t filler, as we ALL KNOW.

I'm gonna laugh my ass off if some huge update drops in the next few weeks along the lines of Heists. It is possible that R* is simultaneously working on something big while giving us little filler updates to keep things fresh in the meantime. I mean maybe these adversary modes that "90%"(someone threw that out there earlier I believe) of the players hate are being made by some unknown developer in Korea while the real R* is making something epic.

Thing is i like freeroam battles now and then....but its fun if they start with a reason and the fight can be balanced no matter what vehicles and weapons are used

Most fun i had in that aspect was in the early days...fighting over vehicles for simeon and fighting over (special)crates

A group random people saying no Rockstar do it this way. Amazing.

No matter how bad an adversary mode is...it's far better than anything the community could think up.

First, we're not the ones getting paid to develop the game. That's their job, and lately they've sucked at it.

Lap dogs like you are what's amazing. There no incentive for them to do better if people gleefully gobble up just any crap they put out. If R* sh*t in your mouth, you'd swear it tastes like chocolate, and beg for more. Pathetic.

In case you haven't noticed, you are immensely outvoted. Just because R* can do no wrong in your eyes, doesn't mean we can't hold them to a higher standard.

With Rockstar feces in my mouth listen really closely...

You don't even have to play this game. You could be getting a manicure instead.

Don't worry I'm working on submitting the next GTA game for all your cry babies...

Grand Theft Auto: Barbie. You know where everybody gets their way and wishes come true.

It's a video game with free content. Man, when some of you reach adulthood you are going to be so lost, so stay with Mom and Dad for as long as you can.

Oh wow you changed all of our minds! Not.

We don't like the direction the game's going. We are the game's customers.

So we're voicing our opinions.

If you don't like that, you don't have to listen. Don't click on threads like these.

I'm going into the videogame design industry and I can tell you it doesn't work like that. I can tell you they won't care what you think if you don't say it to them and it isn't formal or constructive. I can tell you that if you don't like the way is going then you have 2 options, either don't play, or find another game that has the things you want. If you don't get paid for these casual critiques then why bother? It would be a better waste of time for you to show up at rockstar door and ask for a job, for real.

Meanwhile your opinion appears to be no one that likes these modes or hates them as much as you is just a controlling Nazi/terrorist that don't allow others their opinions. When you're the one coming down on those who opinion differs from yours. He was brining up a legitimate point anyways. It's not like you paid for a season pass expecting PvE content, but instead got a ton of PVP continent you didn't want. Instead you ignored that and went to name calling. Just like you ignored my point that AM's hardly take away from development resources preventing them from "so much more things players want" instead. This entitled complaining the moment Rockstar does another AM has been getting old for months now.

The Hydra and the Dodo are not in the first trailer for GTA V. I'm pretty sure what you're referring to as the Hydra in the second release trailer was a beta version of the Laser. That model was later altered and turned into the Hydra. (The one in the trailer is missing the vector thrust nozzles on the side, so it wasn't a VTOL jet and not the Hydra when it was shown.) Are you also going to complain that the Hydra doesn't fire both missles simultaneously like the jet in the trailer did?

Close my friend, very close. Everyone desires something big in this game whether they publicly voice it or not. It does not take small teams or little time to make big updates or games in themselves, it takes the average modeler 2-3 hours to make a high poly small prop with no error, no NGons, no clipping errors. This is before textures and physics/riging, so throw maybe 2 more hours on top of that. 5 hours approx for something as simple as a sprunk can. Modes with existing content and maybe a few texture edits? Possibly 20 hours all together that's split among various people. They don't rush these things, but they don't make them elaborate for the purpose of saving some time to do bigger things.
