Personally, I enjoy the adversary modes. I remember when they were first starting to show variation and getting excited about whatever might come next.

Beast VS Slasher is a lot of fun. Slasher itself is a good time. I f*cking love Drop Zone, and, while it was a bit of a flop, Till Death Do Us Part was also really fun when I managed to scrape together a team.

 

However, Rockstar is definitely overproducing them at this point, pumping out as many as they can to appeal to the casual Youtuber audience, highlighting them playing their janky little modes on the Newswire and their Twitter. I'd like to see contact missions, more heist, more freemode events, or at least something beyond the typical 'twist on PVP' they seem to be striving for.

 

EDIT: Also, the f*cking outfits being locked into the mode really tweaks my goddamned tail.

I think a lot of these modes are awful when you've got a lot randoms playing together. It requires teamwork to be effective and it sucks when one team has coordination but your on the other side of it. It was the same back when those Capture missions came out. They were fun but only if you had your crew/friends with you. It sucked with the randoms though and eventually died out. Only way to get a could capture match going these days is if you got a decent sized crew or friends list.

what R* should do is get a group of regular players to test the adversary modes, get some feedback before releasing them into the live version of the game, you know like a focus group.

I see a lot of whining but not a lot of original ideas being offered or alternatives.

It's easy for me to say, " hey that movie sucks", when I'm not writing my own.

 

If we only had races and DMs and LTSs, this thread would be about having new modes but along with no critical thinking or ideas to submit to the game creators.

 

If one of you all AMs Suck people can give me your ideas so my mind can be blown, that would be real cool. Thanks.

Reaper, you throw this out here and here will come the "please give me this really obscure item that only I want, and if I don't get it, I'll be pissed.'

 

Previous winners included a zombie apocalypse, a weapons locker at the house, and my personal favorite, and umbrella (what, no galoshes. This game sucks!!)

 

Trying to speak rationally to the squeakers is just a waste of time.

Hahahha I remember one time someone being mad that there are no open restaurants like in San Andreas, and for a second I entertained his thoughts but then realized there were 1,000s other things to do in GTAV that not being able to eat spaghetti in the game was trivial at best.

 

And no I want serious critical thinking...like instead of Rhino Hunt what would have been a better idea. Im just curious. One thing I've learned IRL is if you have a complaint, bring a solution to offer.

It's like they had all these crazy ideas but couldn't work them into regular game modes properly, so they created Adversary as some kind of super-mode for all of that stuff.

 

Unfortunately for them, players want to know roughly what they are going to get when they quick join from their phone. There is already some uncertainty in the main game modes. Will I find a land race or air race? A team deathmatch or standard deathmatch? With adversary mode, that uncertainty is at ridiculous levels. The chances of you finding the kind of adversary you want is slim. So you decide to host. Now you are on the other side. People are joining on call, but leaving when they don't like what they see. You spend your time waiting in the lobby. Maybe that's the fault of bad matchmaking. All I can say is that in the current state, adversary modes drive most people away.

There are some very simple solutions. Make missions instead of adversary modes. Make other clothes/vehicles instead of adversary modes.

 

And if I remember correctly, just the other day I was saying how this should've been Hunters versus tanks. With de - nerfed tanks, that would've been alright. Not spectacular, but it'd bring an old vehicle back, and would be more balanced than this.

 

If there's one thing I learned from all the Hunter business of late, it's that trying to ram stuff down people's throats generally doesn't work.

There are some very simple solutions. Make missions instead of adversary modes. Make other clothes/vehicles instead of adversary modes.

Cooperative missions > PVP stuff.

 

Sorry but K/D boosters got old real fast.

 

More emphasis on survival models, contact missions, and sh*t in general that requires teamwork against a common enemy (NPCs).

i think we should be able to choose what adversary mode we want to join from the quickjob menu, im sure it would speed up the matching process while hosting.

 

when i try to host dropzone normally 2-3 people join, i look at the screen thinking, "of the entire gtao we cant be the only ones that want to play dropzone"

 

it all comes down to how R* do the matchmaking, just look how they funnel every request made via quickjobs to the new adversary mode they are promoting.

Lucky for me I have a computer with Internet service and have actually visited a website called YouTube and watched the new adversary modes to get a "feel" for what they are like before I play them. its like a sneak-peek, it's pretty amazing, like a crystal ball made from interwebz.

But seriously, saying "you don't know what you are getting into" when there are copious resources is lazy.

I mean if you wake up start the game up and just enter the new stuff without research, well then, you just an eager beaver aren't ya!

He is referring to the horrendous matchmaking system, and how the odds of landing in the Adv. Mode that you want via the On-Call option are slim to none.

Actually we are talking about "Adversary modes".

They are missions supposed to have some unique features right ?

If R* want some feedback from the community then they will have to ask them which unique features you want us to add to the adversary mode?

That's when the community starts to shine.

I don't understand the sudden obsession with these Adversary modes?? It's like they're going ham at them recently - I don't understand why, especially since most of them have a very low player limit. I do enjoy some of the adversary modes from time to time (only in free aim though... assisted aim can suck a d**k) but I think there has been enough now

Yeah it's simple. Instead of all this time and memory wasted on dumbass AM and free mode events, how about focusing on what has always been the most popular game mode, contact missions. What, you want the players to write the missions for them? Umm, that's what they get paid for. Besides, a long time ago I was ignorant enough to waste my time using that imaginary developers email to send contact mission ideas. Quite sure there is no human on the other end receiving those emails.Contact Missions not the reason I bought the game.

See that's just it, we all have our own reasons why we play.

I can complain about DMs basically being abandoned, I think last double cash DM weekend was two years ago. Last time a DM was verified? Yeah I can't remember either.

See I can play whine too and believe me I have, I'm no exception to whining, but the sh!t is out of my control and just because I haven't gotten everything "I've wanted" it doesn't mean everything else sucks. That's a "Make Amercia Great Again Mentality"...throw that fuggin hat in the garbage.

I will say this I did see a crew this morning on Twitch successfully take out 2 tanks in rhino hunt. They were good. They played several matches and won often against the tanks. Communication was key.

 

This event feels like it is tailored more to Twitch streamers, crews or people who never mute their mic lol.

Oh really? I'm usually up to date with GTA news, but this slipped past me. I was under the impression we were getting at least one more by Christmas this year.

How do you know that contact missions are the most popular though? Are there some kind of metrics released? I'm just wondering where that info comes from. I would prefer some new contact missions too and was totally disappointed with the new Lamar missions, but those should be considered as a recent mission release. Anyway, it seems to me that free roam is the most popular destination for players, which is why they expanded free roam with more stuff to do. VIP and Events.
