Just a discussion that couldn't possibly get heated. But users here make anything possible... I just want to rise up some things about GTA online and the worrying truth about the future of it all.

We all know that the map in GTA 5 is big. But now it's been expanded upon we are running out of houses and unique content to add. More cars, bikes and clothing is good... but it gets stale. I know it's all free and honestly... I'm not complaining but it's sad to see the truth that there isn't a lot more that can be done without a map expansion.

We know Rockstar games don't just drop projects. They don't abandon many things (Agent aside) and it's unlikely that they really have scrapped the single player dlc. We can only hope this means a map expansion also otherwise the game is now going to fall downhill regardless of how much you love it.

Opinions?

Almost. They should add more clothes, and also a certain vehicle that I won't name.

After that, they should move on and release LV and SF, or even VC, or LC.

Sounds suspiciously like a new way to Bitch and Moan....

The new adversary alone suggests they're scraping the bottom of the barrel for new content, either that or they're rushing stuff without any Quality Control.

New detail needs to be added, although there are several blank areas of the existing map that could be put to better use.

Nope. Rockstar won't make a new map just for online.. thats ridiculous. We won't get a new map until we get another sp story.

That's kind of EXACTLY what I just said if you actually bothered to read it..

I'd love to see a map expansion. I want more desert, more forests, some truly high mountains, more wilderness. I don't care if I have to spend money on a SP DLC for it.

Agreed, we have to wait on any SP content.... E3 is going to be interesting if T2 do attend, but that could be for anything other than R* reveals.

Running out of space? What about the few thousand unused buildings?

They turned a random warehouse into Benny's, if they need more space they will do the same with another building.

I was playing last night and i realised how small the map really is.. also you can see how Rockstar didn't play for Online to be this big.. The lack of houses makes the game seem pretty much useless online now. What else to do but drive around

The map isn't small, its the biggest map in the GTA series. I suppose it has something to do with players speeding at 150mph and not really taking any notice of their surroundings. San Andreas is massive if you ask me.

Wait until you play it as long as I have and you will see. 1 city. Some hills a desert and a mountain. It really isn't all that big.

Nothing much tbh. It'd be nice to actually be able to do something with the map we have at least. New cars are nice and everything but its gonna get boring driving the same place everyday. Id personally like for R to make massive map expansion in the future. If ea can do it for NFS World then R can. Id love to see them add all of San Andreas, North Yankton and Liberty City. That would be more than enough space to explore.

Running out of space? Really? The map is huge. What things do you think they should add that there is not enough space for?

Not at all...they still coud bring us several new stilt houses, mansions, few more tiny houses in paleto bay and bigger garages at the docks, LS airport and around the area were lester lives

Edit: old activities have to return to new gen and they have to be more common and pay more

GTA5 might have the largest map, but it feels small, even compared to GTA San Andreas.

We don't need another map - R* just needs to take better advantage of the current map with new interiors and features.

This.

New maps woud get boring fast to...its about the activities.

Add strangers and freaks and more freeroam activities and freeroam gets way more fun

We all know that the map in GTA 5 is big.

It's f*cking massive, but proceed...

But now it's been expanded upon we are running out of houses and unique content to add.

Maybe 5% of all the buildings in the game have interiors. There's plenty content to add. PLENTY. SO f*ckING PLENTY.

More cars, bikes and clothing is good... but it gets stale. I know it's all free and honestly...

Speak for yourself. As long as R* keep sending cars IGAF about to Benny's, releasing trashy lingerie, and adding weapon skins, I'll keep earning and spending money.

I'm not complaining but it's sad to see the truth that there isn't a lot more that can be done without a map expansion.

It's not a "sad truth", it's your small-minded opinion. You're being a drama queen... There's SO much more that can be done in this game. So much more. It's been evolving steadily since it came out. Just because you can't come up with anything else doesn't mean that the devs can't. A map expansion won't happen. The game is in it's third year and it's chugging along. I've never played a game for three years straight in my life.

Rest assured that R* is working on a new map. For GTA6. When GTA6's online mode goes online, GTAO will "expand" and include a new city. You'll need a new disc to get to that city, though. Just like you needed a new disc to get to Los Santos from Liberty City.

We know Rockstar games don't just drop projects. They don't abandon many things (Agent aside) and it's unlikely that they really have scrapped the single player dlc.

I couldn't care less. The only time I see SP is when I log out of GTAO before putting the PS4 into rest mode.

We can only hope this means a map expansion also otherwise the game is now going to fall downhill regardless of how much you love it.

Opinions?

Listen. GTAV/GTAO will not see a map expansion. R* spent years crafting the game world. It is what it is. If you want to travel elsewhere, fire up an older console and have at it. Liberty City in the late 00's? PS3. Los Santos circa the 90's? Vice City circa the 80's? Liberty City circa the early 00's? PS2. If you're tired of Los Santos as it is, and you're afraid of it "falling downhill", play a different game that takes place in a different world. Try Just Cause 3

What "We Are Ninja" said.

Still plenty to do. When it works. And when my crew are around.

See what I'm doing? OP is looking for problems that don't really exist...

Glad to see someone addressing the bigger picture.

Hold the faith that something bigger is in the pipeline. Rockstar are working on it right now, but whether it's a future map extension or new GTA online version, who knows?

In the meantime, every two or three months Rockstar give us major updates, and in between that they give us various 2x events to stop us complaining. But in ADDITION to that, they're constantly working on the next project - map, next game, whatever it is...?

I remember when GTA 5 was announced... I'd been playing GTA 4 for so long I'd given up hope, but you shouldn't give up hope... just have faith.

And I don't agree with you, that we should be satisfied with Los Santos, and that all Rockstar are doing is creating new content for this map.

The OP is thinking big and wondering 'what next', and there's nothing wrong with that.

Do you really think that Rockstar long-term development have settled for fleshing-out Los Santos interiors and adding new clothes, cars, weapons, and that's it? Yeah, the OP is thinking too far ahead, that's all.

I have played SA-MP for literally over 6,000 hours, I played RDR for over 800 hours, and I have just gone over that for GTA V.

The map is far bigger and detailed than 99% of other games in existence. Mach1bud already said Benny's was created from a random warehouse nobody cared about before. There are thousands of places and possibilities for Rockstar to add things to.

There's a lot of room for new ideas and improvement, like adding new interiors, for f*cks sake!

Make Tequilala, Bahamas Mamas and other interiors acessible already!
