For the record, I'm running GTAV on a i7-6700HQ + GTX 970M laptop in 1080p with high/very high settings, FXAA and 4x MSAA, and I usually stay at the 50s range unless there's some serious amount of grass.

 

 

 

Knock the grass to High/Very High instead of ultra and you'll grab some frames. It's stupidly resource hungry with a negligible quality increase.

 

I'd also recommend taking that MSAA down to x2 and turn on TXAA instead of MSAAx4. You could most likely keep above 60 quite comfortably after that.

 

@KingAndy - That's fair enough, I'm not ragging on your rig or anything. It was just the way you worded your reply made it seem as though the game's requirements aren't representative of what's required, when they are.

The cheater situation used to be out of control on PC for months, it is now very well under control, all of the public cheats are detected and rockstar banned everyone who was using them.

 

There are still some cheaters who use private/paid mod menus, but most sessions have nobody cheating in them at all.

 

Avoiding the PC version because of cheaters is now no longer an argument really, it is the best version of the game and it's great, I've played 90 hours of it in the last 2 weeks on PC and have had issues with cheaters griefing me perhaps twice in that time, change session and the problem is immediately gone.

 

I have over 1400 hours logged on PC since release, and I have watched the rise and fall of the modder apocalypse first hand, trust me when I say it's okay now or I would have given up.

Agree with this, it was out of control before Xmas, but lobbies are fine at the moment and have been for a while.

A)You have public voice chat disabled on PS4

B)There's no text chat on PS4

 

No toxic community on PS4 my ass, it's not hard to find dickheads on PS4. Just look up Blasterman4ever.

Just gonna call this out for the total bullsh*t that it is. As GradeA-Hole said, dickheads aren't hard to find on any community. I played since release on 360, and have played on PC since. There's no difference whatsoever.

 

Only a f*cking idiot makes sweeping generalisations about people based on the hardware they use.

 

• All PC players are elitist snobs.
• All CG players are consoletards who accept sub-par performance.
• All LG players are broke c*nts who can't afford CG.
• X community is comprised solely of assholes.

All of the above bullet points are examples of things a stupid c*nt would say.

 

Trash talk is part of online gaming, and you'll find people who take it too far on every single platform.

I've owned the 360, PS4 and PC versions of this game all since their respective release dates and I've experienced the same amount of trash talk and aggression across all three. I don't know why some people try so hard to find glaring flaws with the PC version (I assume because of the arrogant "PC master race" folk, whom are just as annoying to us as they are to you) but the fact is, aside from script users on the 360/PS3/very rarely PC, the communities are largely the same across all platforms.

But regardless, the PC version of GTA Online can often be a real trashtalking simulator, mainly because of that text chat

As said in other posts, the PC,LG and CG versions have their own flaws (either community-wise or gameplay-wise), but since we are talking about some of the members from the community, my only advice is to stay away from any "badass" or "action kid" you find.

Agreed; you will run into them from time to time, but it's much better than it was--that's for sure.

 

BUT things change...it could return to how it was; it's an ongoing battle between the script kiddies and R*.

 

I'm learning to just deal with whatever comes; use an Invite-Only session if necessary--that kind of thing.

Rockstar is doing a decent job and now there are little to no hackers about... All methods are detected, which is convenient.

Ever since I got banned I've been using Menyoo in SP, and I read that all online capabilities were removed. Theres plenty that work, but all of those will get you banned.

As a user of Menyoo in MP, I can unequivocally confirm that you're wrong about the online capabilities being removed.

 

Certain tunables etc are risky, but their hook works, just like it always has. Dropping money is a rapid ban, but we're using 15 mil Impromptu Race tunables at the moment to get around that.

I know this is a couple of days old. but it's not exactly hearsay when you get caught up the results of a hacker/modder deciding to have fun at everyone elses expense. The first and only time I played GTA Online on PC, a modder decided it would be funny to blow everyone up, I happened to be in passive mode at the time and in my Insurgent when it happened so I did not get blown up but my Insurgent did and everyone else that was not in passive mode got blown up.

 

yes that was a few months ago, and yes Rockstar seems to have gotten ahead of the hackers/modders on PC for the time being, but as pretty much everyone else has pointed out the hacking/modding is probably going to get out of control once again...

And the PS4 and Xbone will likely eventually be hacked, just like the previous gen consoles, but that doesn't stop anyone from enjoying them. I think it's better to enjoy the present than worry about what may or may not happen in the future. Not to mention that I think basing your opinion of the PC version on a single isolated incident is silly.
