So... I havent played GTA O since I got my gaming PC. I jumped the gun and didnt wait and bought GTA 5 when it came out on ps3 and still have not converted to current Gen. I WANT to now that it is not full price (not paying 120 for GTA 5) but when I went to click buy on the last steam sale I saw that the reviews were bad. WTF? GTA 5 bad reviews? This game got GOTY... perplexed I did some research to find that GTA O is ruined by hackers...

So.. Can any GTA O players who play on PC confirm this? Is it just a bunch of invincible idiots spawning guns that somehow shoot exploding semi trucks? and who can fly around clipping through walls? Or is it actually fun.

I quit GTAO mid way through the online heists. I could never get a trolless crew together and became insanely frustrated.

There's cheaters, yeah, but no where near as many as there were a few months ago. Ban waves happen, things get better. Cheaters always come back, but they're having a much more difficult time.

Get some friends together and embrace GTA Online. It's awesome and it's only getting better! If you're worried about cheaters there are dudes on here that host private lobbies with groups of people. Tons of fun.

Get the PC version for singleplayer, R* will ban you for playing singleplayer Online because TakeTwo is insulted by a superior Online experience and the R* Online experience is full of cheats

Get the Console version (PS4/X1) for not totally cheater free online, just less of it

Stay on Console version (PS3/360) for a totally rapey vibe and easy money or get into a money lobby then transfer to next gen and be loaded whatever

PC lobbies are mostly clean. Get online and see for yourself. Don't believe plebs in here who deal in hearsay.

There's currently no publicly-available online cheat tools (that don't get you banned within a day) that kids could download and install in 5 minutes, so it isn't that bad.

Well Gaming PC > any console... Sorry, you just do not have the graphical capabilities nor the massive game selection you get with a console so I only buy consoles when they are like 3 years old and super inexpensive. (bought my ps3 for a blue ray player because it was cheaper then a blue ray player)...

Anyways.. On that note, I've heard both things.. Ya I could just "buy it and see for myself" but trying to save myself 60 bucks here which I might put to the Division.

Really my decision is either the division or making my GTA 5 current Gen... BTW .. I KNOW GTA O is a blast.. I have a level 200 something guy with everything needed. It is just getting BACK into it. I would be sad if i payed 60 bucks to just get hacked and trolled.

With the responses I actually may give it a try. I feel bad for my GTA O character, just sitting there wanting to do crime but nobody loves him anymore. Maybe Ill toss it back on the ps3 and see whats up before converting.

All and all, thanks for the feedback guys... the "banning" waves seem to make sense... bad reviews happen at the end of every hacking period im assuming then the Devs go do a sweep and its good again for another month or so...

ppl don't hate pc. Ppl hate the pc gamers who have a weak ego and have to go around the internet bragging about their graphics card.

If you're concerned with saving money, wait for a Steam sale; I've seen it go as low as $35, and as it gets older, the price has nowhere to go but down. As for cheaters in public lobbies, as others have said, they've dropped in number significantly since the last update, and even before that they were grossly exaggerated (frequently by console players who were operating purely on hearsay). I've been playing the PC version since day one, and I can count the malicious script users I've encountered on one hand. Maybe I was just extremely lucky, but at this point, it doesn't really matter.

Streetracer... They are just superior machines it is as easy as that. I mean you have to wait for the next Gen of gaming for you to get a new graphics card. I can just go put a new one in my system and fly off the charts. But not a lot of people know how to install graphics cards or build computers so I understand the market for consoles.. you just plug and play... I got my PC for 350 dollars after rebates. I destroy any console easily with process speed and graphics power. BUUUUTTT it took me a month of finding sales on new egg and sending in rebates to finish lol...

That and there are crazy amounts of games only for PC and like a handful only for console. Total War games one of them...

Pat. I think you convinced me man.. time to revive my GTA O character. I loved GTA 0 but hated hackers...

Get it, it's almost like a different game compared to last gen.

Hackers /modders /cheaters whatever you want to call them are mostly gone (one every 20+ sessions instead of two or more every session a couple months ago).

PC MASTER RACE here.

Game has modders, but every game even on peasant console does as well.

However its more like 2/20 servers have modders, and they are getting banned. It isnt too big of a problem.

Ignore both people comparing PC to consoles and talking about the mustard race bullish.. and people who never played the game on the PC but always say it's full of hackers.

Yeah, there are hackers on PC sessions, but the situation is much better than months ago when it was almost unplayable. Nowadays you might find one stupid kid using these trainers one time or another but that's very unlikely since R* improved a lot the anti hack system. People using them are banned really easily.

Go ahead for the game, you won't regret, and I think nowadays hackers won't be an issue.

just get it, no more script kiddies (those who you shouldn't call modders) and this can run at 60fps on a i3

Are you sure about that? Mine has an i7 (dual core) and can't go any further than 30 fps (with high/very high settings). Even with a really powerful graphics card I don't think you could do so, this game requires much cpu usage.

The cheater situation used to be out of control on PC for months, it is now very well under control, all of the public cheats are detected and rockstar banned everyone who was using them.

There are still some cheaters who use private/paid mod menus, but most sessions have nobody cheating in them at all.

Avoiding the PC version because of cheaters is now no longer an argument really, it is the best version of the game and it's great, I've played 90 hours of it in the last 2 weeks on PC and have had issues with cheaters griefing me perhaps twice in that time, change session and the problem is immediately gone.

I have over 1400 hours logged on PC since release, and I have watched the rise and fall of the modder apocalypse first hand, trust me when I say it's okay now or I would have given up.

My PC uses a 840m graphics card, but I know it's far from the best performance PC ever. But the CPU is an important (the most important) component of a computer, and it makes no sense to have a good GPU to compensate a weak CPU.

PC version is mostly pretty clean, although I've been noticing more modders lately, however the next update will wipe them out for quite awhile. So you should definitely take the plunge and try it out on PC, you'll absolutely love it.

The worst thing I've had done to me is them crashing my game but that's it. Most of the time they just spawn things on you and that's about it. Kinda rare tho

GTA V recommends a desktop quadcore and a desktop GPU. Yes the CPU is very important, but the GPU is equally as important. Laptop CPU's and GPU's are not made for gaming, unless you're ready to hand over $3,000+ for a decent gaming one.

I am aware of that, but for example according to the recommendations for Fallout 4 my pc won't even run it, but truth it its capable of and it does it pretty well.

I never had problems running this game on my machine and as I said FPS are acceptable and settings are great. My experience says the recommendations aren't very accurate.

something is wrong with your Cpu then.. mine is just a G3258 and the nvidia Gfx750 and it runs on high/very high with 30/40 fps. (try disabling the SMAA)

for people talking about modders in Pc please invite me to one lobby when you find one modder in it, its been more then a month since i started playing in Pc and i still havent found one

The recommendations are usually a general guide to running the game, because there are so many differences in components. If your system doesn't meet the recommended specs then you should expect to run the game at a lower quality(30FPS); or not at all.

A i5 quadcore and a GTX660 are quite accurate requirements for being able to run GTA V on medium settings, [email protected] When you look at recommended requirements, you are looking at the PC standard, which everyone agrees is [email protected]

What are you on about?

Please post the rest of your specs, because posting an i7 and saying the game doesn't run above 60FPS isn't even half the story.

In my main gaming rig I'm running an i7 4790k @ 4.00GHz, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, and an EVGA GTX980 Superclock. I run this game at 1080p with all settings at ultra, and my anti-aliasing set at MSAAx2 with TXAA switched on. 60FPS constant. Hell, that's only because I use Vsync, if I take that off it usually sits around 90FPS @1080p.

I should point out that a dual core processor barely meets the minimum specifications, if you want to run the game properly you need to meet recommended settings. You can't buy a Ford Fiesta and expect it to perform like a Ford GT just because they both have Ford badges.

[Edit] Just noticed you mentioned the 840m, coupled with a dual core processor, it's no wonder you aren't able to run the game properly. As Crystal3lf pointed out, it doesn't seem like your laptop meets the mark.

the people blabbing about cheaters on PC are just a vocal minority while most players enjoy the game with no problem, of course people who are pissed off are going to make themselves heard.

I only play PC in pub lobbies and have no trouble, the amount of toxic players is widely over-exaggerated.

My i7 is an 5500u 2.4ghz, which is from a Intel series of processors meant to save a lot of power, and just like the GPU, I always knew it was not meant for gaming.

I don't want to continue going more and more off topic, but I just want to point out when I bought this pc I needed both a good laptop for college (I hate slow machines that can't do anything else than social media browsing and text input) and a new gaming platform. To simplify things I decided to simply go for an higher end laptop (still behind "real" gaming laptops), and the performance of this PC seemed ok for me, I am aware I can't reach anything close to the PC gaming standards but I'm fine with what I have. Of course I'd like to play with bigger resolution than the PC 1366x768 screen, or higher FPS, but that's, the machine I have and I'm perfectly fine this way. I don't have the money to invest on a more expensive machine since I have the college bills and want to save money for more important things like to get my own house and a car, so a high end gaming PC is not a priority now for me.

I also know that although it can keep up with newer games, even with not that greatest quality, soon it won't keep up with the gaming industry anymore but I'm waiting to see how the Nintendo NX will be and the future console gen, and then consider what gaming platform I'll get next.

He's using a dual-core i7, from which we can deduce:

a) It's a laptop (all desktop i7s are quad)

b) It's not a gaming laptop (all self-respecting gaming laptops use quad i7), and non-gaming laptops usually don't come with anything better than an x40M Nvidia GPU if it has a dedicated GPU at all.

EDIT: Whoops too late, didn't see the edit part. But I guess I did come pretty close with my guess of an x40M.

For the record, I'm running GTAV on a i7-6700HQ + GTX 970M laptop in 1080p with high/very high settings, FXAA and 4x MSAA, and I usually stay at the 50s range unless there's some serious amount of grass.
