I could have swore gta online used to have this function, when you where in a helicopter in the air it would tell you how high up you where, but it doesnt seem to be the case anymore.

Am I missing something, or is there no way to tell how high up in the air?

EDIT: It was around 250ft

thanks for the help everyone

In third person? No, you just have to use your eyes. In first person there is an altimeter indicator.

There I'd a great thread on here somewhere about height in aircraft, I'm sure someone else will be able link it.

Well I want to use it to measure how tall a certain building is. I'd figured aircraft was the way to do it. So how would one find this out?

Also does this count sea level?

1. Get a helicopter

2. Land helicopter on the roof of the building you want to measure

3. Switch to first person and look at the altimeter

it's Probably representative of an irl building so if you can find out what it is irl it should be simple to find out the rest.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think it measures from sea level.

The number would be jumping all around the place if it's measuring ground level altitude.

Seeing as the shorter hand of the dial goes up by 1 (i.e. 1000 ft) every time the longer hand does a full circle, it is ~250ft.
