i like the homing launcher, r* needs to improve the tracking system and make it harder for jet jerks to lose them.

 

 

Or even better.. Take R*s dumb approach to jets and apply that same logic to the HL.

 

 

Make the HL shoot unlimited rockets... for FREE.. and you never have to re-load it.

 

That way i can lock on and shoot a bazillion rockets at one time.... lol

but give it lock on capability, better turning ability in the air to chase jets more effectively.

 

can lock onto aircraft almost instantly, but only aircraft. lets just say they are laser guided, you keep the reticle on the target and itll keep following the target. otherwise itll just chase like a regular lock-on.

 

you can hold 40 shots. pewpewpewpew (reload) 4 at a time.

 

while locked onto with the "laser guided" lock on, the missile would not ever give up, forcing the jet to fly away to even be able to lose it/them.

 

the catch? the price (40,000 to replace every missile) and that it would take 2 missiles to kill a jet outright. also firing 4 would cause you to reload automatically which would break "laser lock" allowing the jet a chance to evade.

 

otherwise it would make a great anti vehicle rocket pod from the side of a chopper.

 

it could even maybe be used from the back of a moonbeam. idk. im just pondering at this point.

The homing launcher's never getting buffed. It's more likely to get a big nerf before anything like that happens.

 

You're all really better off asking for some kind of new anti - jet weapon, like a more powerful sniper. That or some kind of non - ridiculous nerf to jets themselves, like a slower rate of fire.

 

Those things might actually happen if big enough numbers ask for them. This never will.

Nah, it's fine as it is. I'm even quite surprised at the immense range on this thing, and it's very easy to use. Heck, it even locks onto cars. Buffing it even more will only make it too effective, and then you will have people complaining because they can no longer fly helicopters, planes, Besras, or even PVs. Hey, if it can exceed the top speed of a jet, that should tell you it doesn't need any buff whatsoever.

And it's already causing that right now, so yeah - no way it needs buffing.

Yeah, I've been blown up by the homing launcher quite a few times doing 120 mph down the road. You can even go around a bend behind buildings, and it will still get you. It's very quick and very accurate. However, I strongly believe that it should NOT be able to lock onto non-lethal aircrafts or cars. It should be able to lock onto tanks, Insurgents, armed helicopters and, of course, jets.

It already takes like five rockets for the Insurgent to blow up, and like three or four for the tank to blow up. I also think the Savage, Buzzard and jets should not able to lock onto PVs. Jets are already a problem to begin with, and now they think it's funny to allow them to lock onto PVs? Even rank 20s can get in a jet and blow you up with a lock on. Stupid.

In real life that's an unguided rocket launcher with no homing at all that's not remotely anti vehicle. It shoots a payload of (Equivalent to) napalm designed to burn down foliage at range to deny enemies cover. It was researched as a replacement for the aging m1 and m2 flame throwers.

 

It's not guided or anti vehicle anything, and it's not very accurate. It's the M202 FLASH.

You should be able to shoot the missiles out of the sky in a helicopter with arms. Give flares to the civilian helicopters and there you go. As for jets, just improve speed/accuracy solely for jets (maybe give the Besra flares) but halve the damage, it would still be enough to destroy the back end, so they couldn't steer.

I disagree with most of the stuff you say, but you're definitely right on this one. It should be level locked at 120 or more. It's asinine to see level 20s wielding a homing launcher, but the RPG, which isn't as effective, unlocks at 100. It's very to use and very accurate as well.

 

Stupid Cockstar not thinking when they release sh*t like this.

True, but you will still have the jets lock onto your cars though.

Unlike the people who created this thread though, I've long since learned that if I compromise a little I can get a few more people to agree with me.

 

So now I'm more at nerf its tracking, or add flares/armour to helicopters and slow planes.

 

In all honesty though, the best thing to do would be to just get rid of it entirely. It failed against jets, while managing to be overpowered against everything else. But that's not happening.

It shouldn't have been introduced at all, to be honest.

Simply split the Homing launcher. Replace it with a MANPADS(Man-portable Air Defense System) and an ATGM.

 

MANPADS work best against low-flying jets. As in real life, missile travel speeds will be very high, making it hard to escape. Even more, detection ranges are larger and locking on will be easy. As a pilot, you can evade lock-on by flying higher than the cutoff. MANPADS will have a cutoff altitude and after that they stop working. To balance this, ammunition will be very expensive and you can only hold 5 missiles at a time. I'm thinking above rank 80 for this.

 

The ATGM(Anti-tank Guided Missile) will do best against armored vehicles, larger cars and slow moving vehicles. An insurgent is a great target, but not a T20. The ATGM won't target motorbikes, bicycles, moving or stationary NPC cars(if the NPCs are not aggressive) or helicopters. 10 rounds of ammo, fast targeting. To balance this, the ATGM will have a small blast radius, a long reload time, high rank and expensive ammunition.

 

The RPG will get a faster reload time, a larger blast, more zoom, quicker travel times and less expensive ammo.

 

tl:dr: MANPADS best against aircraft, ATGMs best agaist armored cars and the RPG will be best aganst players on foot.
