Are Mansions Rockstar's last "Ace in the hole"?

Gta 5 doesn't have long left to be honest next year October-december the gta 6 hype train will get rolling this my personal opinion........Only so much you can stretch from one game

This.

I think a lot of people have to start realising that all of the 'best' ideas are being kept for 6.

I welcome regular dlc's for 5, but I'm not going to get moist about any earth shattering content.

GTA 6 is still a minimum of 2 years away.

Given how much shark cards have brought in profit wise every year so far, it would be foolish for them to let up on DLC for 5.

Their Ace in the hole is the next big DLC, which will be 30 $, since it's a singleplayer DLC. it's raining money one last time from all over the world.

After that, Red Dead Re-something will be announced and then GTA Online will be no longer supported as priority#1, it's all about Red Dead then.

would you stop feeding a cow that is earning you $50million+ in revenues?

i mean, yes eventually they would have to move onto other projects but im sure that aslong as the cashcard revenue still high, they would keep pumping content into the game.

People saying next gen launches 2018/2020 are probably quite far off.

Next GTA probably comes out (or is meant to come out for the anniversary), but will be delayed a bit.

Why would they make next gen consoles in 2-4 years, when they are still milking money from current gen around that time and it's not like the games will be pushing the limits of the system by then either. Look how finished 360 and PS3 were in terms of hardware and what it was capable of doing, before current gen was released.

I honestly think we'll see the Casino single player/online dlc before mansions, seems like the logical order.

...That'd be much better.

I really think map expansion people are really clamoring for a "new game." I don't see the motivation to put that kind of work in and not sell it on the shelves for another $60. Is that just me?

No. It's not just you. Common sense and critical thinking FTW.

It's simple drip-feeding.

If all possible properties were in the game right away, people might buy maybe one cheap one, but would then save up for whatever the best/most practical ones were.

By releasing certain properties over a period of time, you essentially get people to spend more as they keep forking out to replace previous properties, but you also keep things a bit fresh.

It's why we don't have any decent properties beyond Los Santos yet, and why only one of the stilt houses has a (terrible) pool.

Mansions may come along down the line, but expect Blaine County properties and more stilt-houses, and more penthouses in other appartment blocks before Mansions arrive.

No. With custom yachts and apartments, instead of mansions, R* should give us customizable private islands. Now that would be something I would be willing to buy shark cards to get.

The OP's logic (probably connect) seems to be that when shark card sales start to taper off, Rockstar gets off their lazy ass and spends a few man-months slapping together some obscenely overpriced items.

The alternative might be, oh, I don't know, maybe Rockstar should get their ass started on some real DLC like a map extension or a full-scale story DLC, or maybe even GTA 6, so they can make some real money. It'll never happen, you're telling me. I know. Sometimes, a wish is just a wish. :p

My prediction is GTAS 6 release on 6/15/2021, with the Rockstar mega-trolling hype train starting about 4 years earlier in late 2017.

I think you will find that Microsoft plan to get *at least* 10 years out of the XBox One before its replacement even hits the drawing board. So, that is what....2024 before we begin see and hear whispers about the following generation. Not just that, but MS is looking ahead to create a more VR/Holographic experience with that system.

So GTA VI may well be expected to support VR/holographic systems.

Also, I would fully expect Rockstar to want to get 10 years of life out of GTA V Online. So, 2021-2023 before GTA VI.

On top of this, we are fairly certain that Rockstar have a lot of other major projects they are working on, including the next instalment of RDR.

RDR 1 is going to be available for the Xbox One on Backwards Compatibility in the next 6-8 weeks, as Larry Hyrb (Major Nelson) accidentally released it onto public servers for a few short hours during its current testing phase last week before realising what had happened and pulling it.

Well, I'm sure they can all just passive and walk in, so... you might have to park vehicles in front of the door or something.

I think I'll do all my gambling and money losing in Invite Only. It would be just too much, to lose my GTA fortune, and then get blown up by a campkilling wuss as I'm dejectedly walking out of the casino as a broke-ass nobody. :p

Mansions won't cost more than the yacht, Probably the same depending on what you upgrade. 10 car, 20 car, furniture, colors, games, etc. They need more cars with tons of customization like the last two but more like the Sultan it had a good amount. More clothing especially real female clothing. Combine their stockings and tights or leggings with every skirt or shorts and let us use any boots (even the combat heist boots) with the stockings/leggings etc. More true armored vehicles like the karuma but more variety. More hair. Plastic surgeon in the game. More missions especially solo or 2 player. 2 player heists (but you could go 4, but definitely 2). Black wetsuit full body. All the VIP outfits. They rebrand the current VIP outfits with the SecuroServ logo so that makes them different and we get those damn clothes. Cop vehicles. Liberty City access through a tunnel, load in tricks many games use when transitioning like a long tunnel you drive through as it loads into the new area, so it seems seamless. More to do in the water, combat, more dynamic ai events in freemode that people can do privately if they wish too. NO MORE adversary modes.

People spend real money for virtual GTA $$$. With those GTA $$$, you can buy virtual cars, yachts, apartments, certain services, etc Unless you know how to magically transfer those virtual GTA dollars into real dollars, a Casino won't be a problem. If some idiot blows $500 bucks on Shark Cards, and blows it at the Casino? That's on him.

Possibly. I am of the opinion that Rockstar will slowly release more and more lucrative properties as time goes on - and people will continuously feel the need to 'upgrade'.

It works out for everyone, right? People get better and better houses, eventually they get their mansions. Rockstar keeps making more and more profit.

I'm wondering what the real distribution of players is now, in GTA Online. I expect that most of the day one players are long gone, except for the hardcore people like active GTAF members. We're the ones who would be upgrading, but how many of us are there?

It seems to me that most players in GTA0 now are late adopters who have gotten GTAV in the past 6 months and are casually playing it for a few months (or less) as just another game, until they move on to the next one. So they would not be doing upgrades to multi-million dollar vehicles and properties, because they wouldn't have put in enough time to grind the millions they would need.

Bottom line, I'm not sure who Rockstar is trying to scam money from, these days.

We got "customizable" apartments and stilt houses. They were pretty cool for.... 15 minutes. How still wants mansions?
It was always about new cars and clothes.
And yeah, people still upgrade from last gen and you usually find a handfull rank <50s in a freeroam lobby. People are still buying the game.

GTA V was huge when it came out and that still hasn't exactly changed. Team Fortress 2 came out over eight years ago and the playerbase there is far from just hardcore veterans.

Likewise, GTA V is not now just a game where only veterans and quick casuals are playing - GTA V is the fourth most-played game on Steam1, and the PC player-base is apparently "underwhelming" compared to the console versions.

It's safe to say that Rockstar can release any ol' sh*t with an absurd price tag - $120,000 outfits, I'm looking at you - and there are plenty of people who will buy shark cards so they can afford it. This is why Rockstar has been able to support semi-regular updates on GTA Online for free for a good couple of years now. It's also why they've cancelled GTA V story mode DLC and iceboxed GTA VI or future projects. Why would they put money into all that resources when they can just recolour a dress and rake in the dough?

Rockstar know what they're doing, and even though the steadily-rising pricetags on Online content is causing more players to give up on the grind, the game's still so damn popular that they don't care.

1 - Funny how the biggest games on Steam - Dota 2, Counter Strike: GO, Team Fortress 2, GTA V... they all fit into the module of a game where you keep paying even after you own the game, purchasing in-game microtransactions to get advantages or for cosmetic changes. The most popular game on the planet right now, League of Legends, is exactly the same. This is why this is such a popular business model - because it works.

If they are able to release a casino that is lots of fun and does not have bugs and exploits and they actualy plan to release that...that will be their biggest ace

One of the most requested ideas.. and the one that coud make players lose the most money...especialy if they implement gambling npc's that are decent at playing, there is no limit on money one can bet on and doing all games unlocks a good looking t-shirt or their are challenges like: win 1 milion on the roulette for free golden high end rims.

people woud trow milions into the void every gta day.
