Are Mansions Rockstar's last "Ace in the hole"?

I wouldn't say so. I'd say it is one of many Aces left in the hole. If you even look at the January update, it made me spend 3 million on the new cars. I didn't get this from Shark Cards, but a lot of people did.

Cars will keep them going for ages, since people have so many things they want from Benny's, like Hot Rods, Tuners, upgradable bikes, more Rally cars, etc. If the info on Lowriders 2 is to be believed, there's a load more money for Rockstar. Say we get bi-monthly updates, Lowriders 2, Casino/Mansions, Tuners and Hot Rods, we'll have updates till October.

Of course, Rockstar like much more variety than just car related updates, so the cars would likely be added within themed updates, but that's getting a bit off topic. My point is, this isn't the last big thing to come.

If there is anything the community asks for that has potential to make a lot of money, we are likely to see it. So as long as the community has ideas, Rockstar has ideas xD

I am guessing the next big update will open the casino and give us mansions.

I'm really hoping for that to be true although both the casino and mansions in one update seems unlikely. Rockstar is intend on milking out new content as slow as possible in order to maximize profits.

Map extension doesnt need to be big, certainly not a lot of work is required to open up North Yankton for instance?

It's already in the game files, all made up city. Just add a few properties, a mod shop, ammu nation, and kvik e mart.

Probably no more work would go into that, than Benny's (when they initially started brainstorming and creating it).

I want North Yankton and the Casino, and of course... More cars... You can never have too many cars.

Casino would make R* money, as long as they manage to make it glitch free.

When you consider the intelligence of your average GTA player, they'll just keep playing and playing, using real money and keep losing.

From my experience North Yankton is barely functional and would require a lot of work to make it a functional city/town considering it's small and the collision detection is barely existant (as in you clip through things outside of the story areas). It's not complete and it seems as they won't develope it at all.

Yea, you're right. I've only been there twice, once in SP and once when there was the glitch that allowed you to go there online, and just fall through the map. Still, even with all of its glitches and flaws it is an area that is already in the game files, and one we cannot access. I mean, if they want to make any sort of map extension, that would be the logical place to start.

I merely used it as an example in terms of the size of a possible map extension and tbh it would be pretty cool to have.

North Yankton is just a tiny map which was specifically made for just a couple of missions in SP, it was never intended for Online.

When you go too far from the road, you fall through the map. They would have to add a lot of things to turn it into something worthwhile.

And a casino will never be glitch-free. A hand can pull out the ethernet-cable much faster than the Rockstar-cloud can save progress.

Hmmm. If your looking specifically down the Shark Card hole, then perhaps. But as far as content is concerned; if you had a future game release that was destined to be the best selling game in history and has the potential to eclipse even the biggest Hollywood blockbuster in terms of revenue from sales alone; would you bleed some of the content into an existing title?

Has anyone noticed for sale signs around some of the los santos properties that we cant buy????? Soon they will be available

Gta 5 doesn't have long left to be honest next year October-december the gta 6 hype train will get rolling this my personal opinion........Only so much you can stretch from one game

Personaly I don't expect GTA 6 in the next 4-5 years. I expect it to be release on next gen or at the very end of current gen like gta 5. Rockstar will probably release RDR before any other GTA and RDR isnt even announce yet.... So keep dreaming is my advice

Current gen will be around a while it wouldn't surprise me if another GTA arrives late 2018 or spring 2019 due to delays lol and like with gta 5 a cross over before the ps5/X comes out.

If you're referring to a GTA 6, Online is a seperate entity of sorts. Most of the stuff could still be buyable in a future game and be carried over. Of course this is completely speculation, however it's awesome to think about my GTA character moving city or whatever

To Rockstar, Shark Card sales means success with an update. Sure, they may get backlash for ridiculously putting cars in Supers class, which I complained about myself, but I still bought the cars. As did many who bought Shark Cards. So like I said, if they continue to supply us with stuff we want, then Shark Cards will keep selling. That means success to Rockstar, and it means content we want, whether we bitch about the small problems with it or not

Yeah, sorry, Online is where my head's at.

I hope the developers see the huge opportunity that exists in terms of map expansion. Whatever happens in GTAO 6 can, I hope, be 'linked' with GTAO 5. I'm not a games 'geek', but I have seen some of the things that current game 'engines' (?) can produce and TBH, It's fu*king incredibe.

But as Harbujahn says: there's only so many things you can squeeze into one game.

Apparently 6 is scheduled for 2018 and Next Gen' is scheduled for 2020, so there's still plenty of time for more DLC's. My point is; do we want 6 to be a brilliant surprise, or just a rehash of what's already (or going to be) available in 5?

CaptainMarvel

Screw map extensions, why not utilize the barren northern part of the already existing map? Outdoorsman/off roading/MC mega DLC.

Gimme some fishing team vs team tournaments and wildlife hunting competitions.

mansions = yes. Look at paying 10 to 30 million

casino = no. With the glitches and money exploits this game has, there is no way they are going to introduce gambling.

Especially since people can use real money to buy in-game money. Essentially gambling real money, which I'm guessing Rockstar has no desire to deal with.

Actually with the wide variance in gambling laws within different countries, having a casino that you can use real money to purchase in-game money would make it a major pain in the ass for Rockstar. I can't see a casino being added

We have done this hundreds of times before. If you buy say a casino video game with real money to play as entertainment (which of course would NOT pay out real money), there really is no difference whatsoever.

This is not a legality issue. Now, Rock Star, who maintains a 1-800, may not want to deal with angry parents whose kids abused their credit cards, etc. I see it as PR issue, not a legal one.

I would like to see them introduce space stations like The JLA has. Then you could upgrade them with defense satellites and rain down kinetic javelins on the poverty stricken noobs of LS.

Also, for the more budget conscious, Helicarriers. Do you think they could tweak it so as not to step on Marvel's intellectual property toes?

This.

I think a lot of people have to start realising that all of the 'best' ideas are being kept for 6.

I welcome regular dlc's for 5, but I'm not going to get moist about any earth shattering content.

You are doubling down on one man talking out of his arse (which I know to some degree we all are). This ignores the following: 1) the article referenced several times on here that Rock Star has big plans for GTA Online now that they stopped supporting LG; 2) last quarterly reports that showed huge profits for Take Two specifically because of GTA (this will slow naturally as we get further and further from the PC release date and sales from that. But as we know, a large part of this is from shark card sales; 3) expected release date for GTA VI may be 2019 or 2020. There was an article I read a few weeks back that suggested they intended to release VI in 2018 (ten year anniversary) but that there will now be delays since Leslie left. That same article referenced the belief that NG machines would be released in 2018, so that delaying GTA till 2020 makes sense. In all honesty, I don't remember the source so I don't know how rock solid this info is.

IT is this simple--if GTAO continues to be profitable, they will continue to release DLC. When it isn't, it will stop. Unless you have access to those numbers (i.e. you work for Rock Star at a fairly high level), you are just talking out of your posterior. The truth is, there is no way to know what will happen in the future for sure. I suspect people saying this are the same people who have grown bored of the game and so they are assuming others will to. But hey, you have specific information, come forward with it.

What about giving us more to do on the open waters? We have Yachts now. Organized boat races. More piracy adventures. Deep sea fishing. Maybe some island we can explore. Seems like a wasted resource to me.

I was always under this impression, it's an unpopular opinion here and some people just flat out choose to not believe there's laws, but some video game lawyer on Reddit answered questions about gambling in video games a few days ago in an AMA, give it a read if you can find it.

I think it could potentially work if there's a small maximum bet, like 10k or so. It might seem pointless to have such a small maximum bet, but there's still potential to double or even triple your money in seconds. You can forget about huge million dollar bets, Rockstar won't allow that even if they could.

The only hole people will get is the one burning in your pocket if they release mansions (with nothing to do inside them) because kids bitchin' they need money for shark cards.

If that Ace has a playable basketball half-court and randoms can come and shoot hoops whenever they want...then yeah...it would be a most magnificent Ace in the Hole.

Okay back to getting F'ed in the Hole by real life.

Seems like this is an oddball idea out of left field. What leads you to believe this is even being considered?

Just an odd ball idea since Michael has a mansion with a tennis court, I'm thinking, sh!t, give me a mansion with a hoops court.

I was exploring the hills and found a house with a basketball rim in the side of the house.

I have always said, give me that and I won't ever have to grind hard again. I have no other reason to accumulate millions at this point.

When people talk about activities in mansions, the first thing mentioned is often darts. Why? Lawn darts maybe, but darts? C'mon people...

I like the 1/2 court Bball idea. Personally, I'd like to see the return and improvement on some of the meta video games from IV and SA. Maybe multiplayer versions.

I want minigolf, chess and some cardgames

At risk of sounding like a broken record (I've brought this up before), Xion136 already proposed a solution to the Casino thing;

You don't get to gamble any of your cash, only job points, which can then be cashed out.

http://gtaforums.com/topic/820326-future-dlc-discussion-thread/?p=1068467575

1. Gets around gambling problems since you can't buy JP with real money.

2. Self-regulating to an extent since if you grind lots of really short races or missions to get lots of JP, you aren't earning much GTA$, and there's no guarantee those JPs will win you enough bonus $ to make up the difference (in fact it's unlikely).

3. Avoids the "kill the connection before it saves" trick since JPs don't carry over between sessions.

I know, someone's gonna say "won't people just cash in JP and cash out immediately?" Maybe, but they could surely code it so that if you cash in, say, 80JP, you then have to gamble 80JP before you're allowed to cash out?

We were told $50 million for yachts (or that was a common number).

Mansions will NOT be more than $10M. Mark me down for this. No way are they catering to the Modders and Script Kiddies who would be the only ones who could really buy in at $30m. Just not gong to happen.

No, it's not only those two groups that could afford it. It would be the few who play the game regularly, which makes sense. I could see 20-25 million easily

Why we can't buy a helipad or a hangar is beyond me. 1-2 million.

Or, even a small store to give us a weekly income. Yeah price it like 2-3 million for a weekly profit of 50k.

that wouldn't make sense. You can make 50k in about 15 minutes, why would you pay 2-3 million to make 50k every week?

Cause the 50.000 are just money coming by stay online?

And you only can make 50000 in 15minutes with two heists pre-missions or seasoned double$ activities... so it's not that easy.

The income would flow whatever you are doing.

Their Ace in the hole is the next big DLC, which will be 30 $, since it's a singleplayer DLC. it's raining money one last time from all over the world.

After that, Red Dead Re-something will be announced and then GTA Online will be no longer supported as priority#1, it's all about Red Dead then.

They will expand on GTA:Online with the next GTA....in 5 years or so, towards the end of the consoles' life cycles. I don't think they intended GTA:O to run for more than 4 years...certainly not for a whole console generation.

mansions mean nothing to be honest...

with a game like gtao, that is not limited by certain theme, R* can add a 100 things better than mansions.

they may come some time in the future, but they wont be the Ace... casino would be!
