Exactly. My point is we can all make generalizations easily about those who's opinions we don't agree with. What really matters is being okay with differing opinions instead of trying to get inside their head and figure out why they need to say something, positive or negative.

What really matters is being okay with differing opinions instead of trying to get inside their head and figure out why they need to say something, positive or negative.Most of your posts in the past week have been removed, or at least in the majority of conversations I read.

 

Apparently we still have this misconception that V fans think criticism isn't warranted. Again, again and again, this is NOT the point. The point is that many users cross the line when it comes to defending their favourite game leading to countless pages of "no but i think your sh*t is bad" conversations that inevitably lead to someone's credibility or intelligence being questioned. You personally, have done this on several occasions.

 

We can handle criticism. Of course we can. The unbearable sh*t is the rhetoric and personal judgments that often stem from over-zealous defending of a video game. This isn't about censoring criticism, and to say otherwise is clutchng at straws to reach higher ground. The problem isn't criticism, the problem is the way people push it (on both sides).

 

This sh*t DOES NOT HAPPEN in IV section. Why? Because most of us V fans leave you guys to it. We have no reason to be there. Same with other sections. If users continuously post negatively in a section devoted to a game they quite obviously don't really like, what benefit are you giving the forum and it's users? Again, your constant criticism isn't going to do anything other than cause riffs in the community. Does that mean every post should be positive? Absolutely not. What I think it means, is that healthy discussion with non-hostile posting etiquette is a positive for all of us. It isn't healthy for you (the collective "you") to be negative constantly. Find positives and work with it. As someone who's dealt with depression both personally and in-family, it's absolutely not a good idea to ponder on the negatives all the time.

 

I realise this sounds like another "super defensive GTA V fan" post, but fortunately for me, I have no preferred game. I realise that my criticism is warranted, yet ultimately pointless here because it won't change anything. Essentially, the scenario we have here is that one friend who will not stop moaning about everything, turning everything into a negative because they have the "right" to complain. No looking for positives to create objective discussion, just constant moaning. This is the issue V fans take. It's not that it's wrong to complain, it's that those that do most of the complaining do it at every possible opportunity, day-in, day-out. Why be this person when you can just... not?

 

This doesn't apply to everyone. They will know who they are. I, along with several others on "this side" are ready and willing to have proper, objective discussion with positives and negatives addressed. I'm fully aware that there is always going to be those types that just want to argue. I've been there, done it and looked like an arsehole as a result.

V is a good game that can stand on its own merits. Though I'm talking strictly as a PC player, but I think its enough already, comparing it with any past game, or other games, for every aspect.

Its best to engage ourselves as much in appreciating V for what it is, and contribute in this section for the discussions about its positives.

 

That is how, people will experience IV section at its core; casual discussions without much negativity, but more about fan appreciation, and less of a circlejerk with the people who know and understand very well just how mediocre IV is.

I do like it, and I respect the hard work Rockstar had put into it, but it seems it's not the game for me.

Not... "It disappointed me so it's broken" or "It disappointed me so it's objectively sh*t" or "It was missing some things so it is terrible".

 

Just... "It's not for me."

 

That's how you do it, haters. That's how you express yourself without coming across like a pathetic little child. That's how you resign yourself to moving on from a game you don't enjoy. Not spending two plus years wailing and gnashing your teeth and beating your chest. Just accept that the game isn't what you wanted it to be and move on with your life.

 

I mean, sure, express why, but just remember - the only person forcing you to play a game you don't really enjoy, or to come and complain about it on the internet, is you. Not "da fanboyz" or "Cockstar" or any of that sh*t. It's you. You either man up and stop being a kid or you shut up and move on.

Whatever you think is wrong with the game most likely won't be fixed. So find the game that fits your expectations.

 

Whomever used the terms fanboy and troll first really did the internet a disservice.

 

They are overused and lame.

 

Calling someone a troll just means you immediately reject their opinion because it is impossible for someone to think differently than you on a particular subject.

 

And if you like anything they don't or they feel you like anything too much or more than you should you are a fanboy.

I don't hate the map, but i haven't played V in months because i don't like other aspects of the game.

If you prefer IV you could play that or rent games until you find the best one for you.

I'm too poor to buy or rent new games.

Just because I find part of the game mediocre doesn't mean I can't enjoy the rest. For example, I found the story for the first Tomb Raider reboot to be a bore the characters to be sh*t but I still played it because of the solid gameplay. Same thing with GTA V, I find the characters and story to be meh/average and in that regard, it did disappoint me but the gameplay itself is good enough that I can have enjoyment. That enjoyment increases with the fact that I can mod the living hell out of V.

 

This. I don't find the game so mediocre or "sh*tty", like someones does. Personally, I dislike a bit the story mode, his characters, but I can still enjoying his online and stuff, side-missions, etc.

I even still using GTA Online. Just his development disappointed me a little bit. (Trying to be factual though)

The only thing that feels wrong is the lack of SP DLC. The one answer to all problems, all R* needs to do is acknowledge its demand, and go for it. V is excellent as a game, its the wasted potential that might make others feel mediocre about certain aspects than it should be.

What in the name of god are you on about? I haven't made an account since this account. Which was allowed by a mod after I got tired of my old 2012 account. The last thing I got warned about was arguing with FuzzKnuckles over pointless crap like this back in December.

 

This thread isn't going any damn where. All it has turned into is another IV vs. V thread. The OP claims he accepts all opinions but OF COURSE the IV fans are at fault. Hating a whole game just because a tiiny wheeny lil' part of the game is sh*t or you didn't like it? That's just ridiculous. Everyone knows that I'm a huge Skyrim fantard yet I HATE so many things in the same game. Should I hate the best game I have ever played just because I can't save a character? Or because I can't marry my favorite character? Of course not.

 

Nothing is perfect, videogames are not an exception, period, and you shouldn't be forced to like every single aspect of a game just so you can play the game either.

 

When someone is a huge fan of something they can't understand how someone can think it is awful. Whether it be a videogame, movie or food.

I'm a huge fan of Skyrim and the DooM classic yet I don't jump on people's throats just because they have a different opinion on these games.
