The Official GTA 6 Wishlist Topic

Tomminsky Sickletty

Seeing as there is a lot of speculation and wishlist's regarding the next big GTA title (which will still take a while), I want to share what my dream GTA would look like.

Basics wishes first:

- Vice City in the 80's as the setting

I know it's hardly original, but feel VC had the least chances to shine due to how little time it had to be developed when it was first created.

I want to see the 80's neon paradise GTA VC originally helped popularize expanded in every way, and have a taste of that beautiful 80's atmosphere all over again with the help of the latest tech.

- A charismatic and ambitious "go get it" main character

I'm not gonna beat around the bush, I want someone like Tommy Vercetti again.

To this day I still believe Tommy Vercetti is the best mc for GTA R* has ever done, he was so perfect as the criminal who wants to take over the city that he help me get into the role.

Now while the game would have only 1 main character, it does not mean it would get only 1 playable character (more on that later).

- Heavy focus on naval vehicles

I want boat and jet-ski races, missions with naval combat, boarding enemy boats, "boat-garages" and customization and so on, its VC there's no better GTA setting for this.

- Lawless Caribbean islands to explore

More on this later, I'll just say if you played "Scarface the World is Ours" you'll know what I mean...

Now the complicated wishes:

- Super expanded gang warfare and business

This is the the core, the meat and potatoes of my wish-list, so prepare cause it's going to be a bit long....

In the original VC you could buy business properties which then give you missions to make your business profitable, these in practice expand your gang and influence around the city, but there's no real gang-warfare mechanic in the game and it's just a way to progress the story.

GTA SA and VCS featured actual gangwars mechanics, but it was very basic, you just attacked enemy gangs territory or businesses and take it over. Really there was nothing stopping you to take over the whole city with simple shootouts even if it made no sense in the story. Enemy gangs could attack you, but their attacks barely did anything so you could just ignore them and continue taking their territory yourself.

What I propose is a creation of a more elaborate gang warfare system that takes part in the story, here's more or less how I would see it work:

Like in GTA VC you don't start right away as a mob-boss, halfway trough the game when you become one your power would be limited by money and manpower. The idea is that you need to staff your businesses with henchman which in turn need to be paid their upkeep regularly, but because you're new you don't have too much influence with the criminal underworld, and means not that many people are willing join your gang yet. To gain more influence you'd need to progress the story missions (and maybe other activities), and to get more missions you'd need to capture and hold certain business held by enemy gangs trough gangwars.

If you tried to attack everything rambo style right from the gecko, you'd be so stretched out that couldn't protect your turf properly (because you lack men to protect it) and your turf would be captured by other more influential gangs in a flash.

There would also exist a police "heat" mechanic, the police "heat" would get higher as more gang wars get waged, if it gets to high no gangs can attack one another. This system would exist to give you a breather from gang wars a let you do other activities, of course if you wanna speed this up, maybe you could pay off a corrupt police officer to look the other way...

Business would not be exclusive to Vice City itself, remember those Lawless Caribbean islands? Maybe you could set outposts there to plant some white gold?

Of course this would take some work to transport the coke inside the state, but it would be VERY profitable.

- Gang henchman control

The game would take cues from two other GTA clones:

- Scarface the World is Ours

- The Godfather 2 game

In Scarface you could directly take control of some selected henchman. In my dream GTA you would call the henchman you want to control and do tasks for your gang, for example, your turf is being attacked on the other side of the map? Call your henchman that you hired to be nearby and defend that business without risking your mc. Need to transport product from the Caribbean but its to risky? Who you gonna call?

And just like the Scarface game, you could also call gang members to bring you your owned vehicles, and yes, complete with your owned weapons in the trunk!

From the Godfather 2 game I would bring the AI hired bodyguards, basically recruiting gang members to follow you if you wish, but actually useful.

The AI bodyguards could revive you a few times if you're gunned down, you could tell them to guard a specific spots, give you ammo or kevlar, if you're driving a boat or helicopter and need to bail out they would take control of said vehicle and provide air or naval support.

- Customize your gang

Changing the clothes of your gang from a proper mob 80's selection, soirre suits, hawaian shirt's etc... Customize gang cars, selection of playable henchman to hire with a little of personality, etc.

There are other details I want to mention like gang diplomacy and vendetta, how difficult the gang wars would be and so on, but I think this is already big enough, what's your opinion on my dream GTA?

tl;dr:

want a cool protag like Tommy Vercetti

want 80's Vice City again

want more boat stuff

want to control a gang and take over the city trough a proper gangwarfare system

basically want Vice City 2.0

Buyable safehouses. I loved seeing all the different properties I could buy in San Andreas and Vice City and how they'd sometimes give you cool stuff, like the one with the helicopter pad in Vice City. Obviously they should all have unique interiors without load screens, but I feel like that's a given. Wouldn't mind if at least some of them had some customization, like the luxury penthouses and clubhouses in GTA Online. Hell, give me a couple business to buy, customize and run as well. Nightclubs, bars, cafés, anything that might serve as a front for money laundering and other illicit activities.

Also drivable yachts of varying sizes with seamlessly accesible interiors. I'd like yachts and boats like, obviously, the super yachts in GTA Online but also more like the smaller ones you'd see in Vice City, like the Tropic or Rio and then also some inbetween.

Think it would also be pretty cool if RVs/trailers could serve as sort of mobile safehouse, giving you the ability to change clothes, advance time, get drunk, maybe eat food for stat bonuses etc. wherever you want.

  • 3 weeks later...

- Drug dealing minigame- Similar to GTA Chinatown Wars.

- The Empire System from GTA Vice City Stories

- The ability to rob a bank outside of a mission.

- The pool minigame from GTA SA and IV

- The ability to recruit people.

I also think that the mission design needs a radical re-think as well. There needs to be less 'go from point A to point B to shoot 20 guys in the face' and more variety, like in GTA San Andreas, where the mechanics were the same, but the open world and missions were brought together in this wonderfully varied synergy, making for some memorable moments.

Dante De Niro

-A mix between fun and realistic physics (somewhere between GTA V and IV, some people say that IV's physics are perfect, those people need to know that cars don't have soap instead of tires)

-Realistic car damage (Yeah, in that case, go full IV mode)

-First person perspective working how it should work

-Less mountains and forests, more urban scenarios

-Don't even consider introducing some gas mechanic bullsh*t

-A less hefty gameplay, i just want to pass through a door for god's sake

-Less limiarity in missions (a lot less)

-A online mode without all the GTA V Online's bullsh*t that we all know. (No P2W, no flying cars, etc.)

-Gimme that retrowave 80's Vice City, baby. Tears For Fears blasting in the radio, mullets, cool cars, neons. It would be incredible

One of the things that I found disappointing in GTA 5 is the lack of the vigilante, ambulance, and taxi missions - and similar missions. A big part of why I liked the GTA 3 universe is that it gave me the ability to roleplay as the "good guy" or just roleplay as a normal civilian by playing these side missions.

I really hope that GTA 6 brings back these missions or maybe add something similar.

and taxi missions

There are taxi missions in GTA V but the problem is that they were implemented in GTA V in most lazy way I could ever imagine. It was literally "Drive to the destination". As soon as I saw it I was like WTF? Taxi driver missions were always very cool because they helped us to get to know the city but telling me to follow yellow line on my minimap surely can't do this. Meanwhile in Vice City we were getting name of point of interest and its location and waypoint on minimap. Just compare it yourself.

Oh yeah I forgot they added taxi missions in GTA 5. My bad. However, I agree with you. I never actually thought about those taxi missions helping us memorize the city layout until you made the comparison.

instead of having the traditional wanted level system that you lose after a while, they should make it so that (outside of missions), the wanted level sticks on you (at least 3 or 4 stars) until you either get arrested/killed by the police, hide your identity or hack the police database somehow. it would give much more purpose to the outskirts & smaller cities of the map (if there will be any), making the player actually have to play like they're a wanted criminal and making crimes in the main cities much riskier.

they should also add some (procedural) random events with NPCs to make the world feel much more alive and varied, along with heists outside of missions.

Leather Rebel

In Depth Southern Florida setting from Cape Coral and Fort Myers to Key West. Also some Caribbean islands and South/Central American secondary location.(Colombia,Bolivia,Panama,Mexico,Cuba,Haiti,Puerto Rico,Jamaica) either one of them could work.

Some linear missions in Liberty City.

Set in 1989.(Online too)

Realistic mechanics/physics.

Drug Trafficking story.

Seamless interior transmission like Vice City,IV and V(story mode),in contrary to San Andreas and GTA Online.

Realistic Recoil on guns.

All of RPG elements from previous games should come back in a bigger scale.

Incredible Soundtrack.

Grounded/not over the top story.

Longest storyline with most story missions.

Also,i'd like this in the game(IMO should be debut trailer music too.)

It's certain, for sure.
The RDR2 system is pretty much like this. The area keeps red, you are chased by patrols and bounty hunters, until you pay for it. You kind of describe this system in modern day.

R* Please bring back him in VI!

Also I wish game will be fun to play over again! For example RDR2 after finishing game feels repetitive! but I finished GTA SA more than 20-25 times! I lost the count! It's still fun to play!

A sort of nemesis system for rival gangs/cartels/families/whatever. Killing someone, getting them arrested etc. would leave their position vacant, creating a power vacuum, with their underlings all gunning for their spot. Have a similar, but toned down, system for your own gang/cartel/family/whatever, with less infighting occuring without your input. Your input would amount to things like promotions, assigning rackets and areas (similar to Mafia 3, but more dynamic).

An APB system that would "force" you out of certain areas, or rather you'd have to avoid cops, not stay in their sight for too long, change your appearance (e.g. shave your beard, get a haircut, different style of clothing) until it wears off.

One thing that I don't know if I'd want it, but I think might be cool: being able to play as members of your gang/cartel/family/whatever as well being able to take them with you to attack rival rackets etc. They'd have a skill level/system, like we've briefly seen in TLaD and in Vs heist crews. Doing a raid/attack/assassination whatever with your crew would increase their skills slightly, doing one alone while controlling that member would give them a huge skill increase, but if you die during it, that member is dead forever. They wouldn't be available in regular freemode, except as followers like in SA and VCS, and all story missions would still be done with the main character, but it might make your gang/cartel/family feel actually useful and less like cannonfodder. Could serve as some very nice emergent, player driven storytelling, where you "level up" (without actual levels, just stats like SA and V) one random underling, become attached to them and their "unique" personality (think how the orcs in the Middle Earth games remember things you've done and all have some level of actual character to them), promote them until they are essentially your right hand man, only to have them killed in a hit from one of your rivals, so you launch a revenge attack on them, which would boost morale amongst your other members.

(Basically I want there to be more to this game than just a linear story and some random side content or some one and done territory fights like SA and VCS)

In addition to more advanced artificial intelligence I’d like to see a more advanced civic system which would include a real live economy and political system

A well-designed racing grid like F1 in map to test vehicles that we bought or modified.

I want a better combat system, many more explorable interiors, more car customization, more weapon customization (cod style), a more realistic wanted system... if i shoot someone from 1500 yards away with a suppressed rifle the cops wouldnt realistically know right where i was at immediately, way more heists, character customization somewhat like gta sa but updated, and am i the only one that would love to see some dexter and burn notice references in game? Maybe some missions that are something like what takes place in those two shows? Both of those shows obviously take place in miami and have such an awesome vibe to them that id be more than a little disappointed if they didnt make some kind of appearance in gta vi.

It would be cool for it to be set in the whole USA and we can only get to the next city by progressing through the storyline (kinda like GTA 1/2) but we can still be free to go to the previous cities. Also, there should be different radio stations for each city to fit that city's vibe.

You'd have to manually tune the transmission in your car to get to the radio station you want, and you get to save the presets in a bunch of different slots.

I know I've said this before, but there's no reason why they can't include 1980s vehicles, music and fashion in a 2020s setting and have the best of both worlds (which they're far more likely to do). With GTA V there was tons of stuff that was reminiscent of SA and the 1990s in general (including songs on the soundtrack). Not to mention the post realease online DLC that had added more "classic" cars et cetera. With RDR they sort of tied their own hands to a certain extent but still couldn't resist the urge to include some older antiquated weapons.

Rockstar's focus right now seems to be on longevity. So they'll want to give us a product that can keep evolving for the next ten years, just as they did with the last game.

A complex sewer system that allow us to travel underground the city, reach interiors of buldings, hide from whoever, flee from any situation, as long as you can find some entrance.

i agree big time on the south florida thing. not only vice city itself, but maybe a standin for fort lauderdale, hollywood, homestead, tampa, etc. like how san andreas did 3 cities in 1 state and then countryside and desert, but with florida. have a huge chunk of everglades and stuff etc. and then yeah seamless interior transition would be great, as well as every building being enterable. they dont have to have any special purpose really, i wouldnt even mind if many of them shared the same generic interior sets, but it would be nice
