Why NOT METAL in RADIOS?

We don't need a dubstep station or anything specific. We need an overall EDM radio, like Electro Choc

Seems like the anti metal crowd can't make a concise statment as to why "it sucks" just that it's not cool or trendy, while the metal heads (and non ignorant people) are making long well thought statments (for the most part) about it's merits and why it should be.

I still don't know why the only hard music in this game is "gutter punk" they literally chose tbe worst songs off the worst albums for most of the bands that channel. And the "classic rock" station is nothing but ballads with only a couple exceptions

Licensing, man. Notice how they're not using their most popular songs? I mean, I like Queen, but come on. Radio Gaga? What the sh*t, you know?

CHANNEL-X is the worst station in the game. Shame because it was the best in San Andreas with all the good f*cking tunes

I have never understood how anyone can truly enjoy listening to metal, good music is supposed to make you happy when listening to it, I couldn't imagine anyone being happy by listening to that racket.

Someone has no idea what they're talking about

There's a whole sub genre called Power Metal which is dedicated to feeling good.

Oh and Judas Priest one of the biggest metal bands of all time always got a positive vibe going on

Smh

Anyone who says "who the f*ck listens to classical in 2016" must be an uber idiot. Music is timeless. It's like saying "Who the f*ck reads books in 2016,there is internet" .

Jerking For Soup

But radios are made of metal.

I have no idea what you are talking 'bout OP.

I'd love a radio station similar to V-Rock from VC and VCS,KDST from SA or LRR from 4 and EFLC.LSRR has a few good classic rock and hard rock songs, but it mostly plays soft rock, pop rock and ballads, and there's no metal on it.California is well known for having lots of rock and metal bands,so I think R* definitely should have made a station that plays hard rock and metal in a game based in a fictional LA,as well as putting more classic rock and less soft rock and pop rock on LSRR.

A very valid point. I just don't know that it would necessarily be an issue with a few of those bands.... and yeah wtf... radio gaga, probably the worst song queen ever did, i like queen but have never liked that song.

better yet... just add the ability to read mp3's from a USB connected hard drive and let us listen to our own music, like PC players can.

I couldn't agree more with OP, we need a metal station.

There's only 2 songs that have a metal background in the entire game.

Suicidal Tendencies on channel x.

This band was actually a part of the mid 80's Thrash Metal wave, but they mixed in skate punk much like Anthrax also did, so for the die hard Thrash fans back then ST and Anthrax was considered pu**y music.

And Def Leppard, that was for some unexpainable reason a part of the NWOBHM in the late 70's and early 80's together with bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. To this day I don't know why DL was in that group, but they where.

Someone mentioned Grindcore above, and that it's not actually Metal, this is true Grindcore came from hardcore punk, not Metal.

But have now developed into the most extreme form of metal.

The pure grindcore is still punk, but the subgenres like Goregrind (my personal favourite) and Deathgrind makes it overall more metal than punk.

Ofcourse I realize that stuff like Goregrind will never make it into a metal channel, they hardly play it on dedicated metal radio channels on the internet. It's an acquired taste that is not for everyone.

But, a metal radio that plays proper old school metal like Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden, maybe mixed up with some 80's Metallica, stuff like that would make an awesome radio station. Even some groovy old school death metal like Entombed could fit in perfectly.

As long as they don't add any Black Metal (that's worst sh*t that ever happened to metal) I'm happy. :)

Based on your post I'm sure you will appreciate some black sub-genres you probably don't know about.

I mean there's a lot of black metal a entombed listener should like.

Maybe I'm wrong.

Metal has always been my music. Hatebreed for sure got me over a horrible bout of depression when my soon to be wife cheated on me.

Everybody loves saying negative sh*t about metal but never back it up, nothing but hollow statements made by hollow people.

It's actually kinda surprising to me that there isn't a thrash-oriented station, as California was one of the hotbeds for thrash metal in the start, and it still is, although now it's kinda split between thrash metal and brutal death metal. The supposed "chaotic" nature of the music would fit well with Trevor and the general mayhem of the game.

On another forum we discussed this and I kinda came up with a... whatever word you guys use for hypothetical/wishlist DLC things for a station:

Neckwrecker FM

DJ: Brian Posehn - He's from California, has a distinct voice, should be able to come up with some funny banter, and likes metal.

Since California was kind of the origin of thrash in the US, the station would be focused on Californian thrash bands mostly, old and new. Some of the tracks were chosen specifically because they were slightly different from the rest, instead of just choosing the thrashiest/fastest song from each band. For example Testament's "Electric Crown" is one of their slower songs which allows it to stand out a little, and Uncle Slam is more of a crossover/thrash band, so on. There's also a mix of more well-known bands and some more obscure stuff, as well as some genre-blending.

Sort of the same way EfLC added the metal section to the hardcore station, it would also have a sort of "special brutal hour" segment, since there there is a big brutal/technical death metal scene in California nowadays. The brutal segment might have another DJ similar to how Max Cavalera handled the metal section on LCHC, and the two DJs could kind of mock each other.

Newer stuff:

Exmortus - Immortality Made Flesh (LA area)

Hatchet - Signals of Infection (bay area)

Hemotoxin - The Alchemist (bay area)

Warbringer - Hunter-Seeker (LA area)

Witchaven - Absolute Profit (LA area)

Nihilist - Destroyer (LA area)

Hexen - Grave New World (LA area)

Older stuff:

Exodus - Seeds of Hate (bay area)

Testament - Electric Crown (bay area)

Slayer - Black Magic (LA area)

Sadus - Fight or Die (bay area)

Dark Angel - Never To Rise Again (LA area)

Uncle Slam - Weirdo Man (LA area)

Metal Church - Ton of Bricks (bay area)

Suicidal Tendencies - How Will I Laugh Tomorrow? (LA area)

Holy Terror - Distant Calling (LA area)

EvilDead - F.C.I./The Awakening (LA area)

International stuff (mentioning how thrash is a worldwide thing blah blah):

Sodom - The Saw is the Law (Germany)

Blood Tsunami - Nothing but Contempt (Norway)

Witchery - Plague Rider (Sweden)

Expulsion - Police State Tranquility (Netherlands)

Brutal hour:

Exhumed - As Hammer to Anvil (bay area)

Deeds of Flesh - Rise of the Virvum Juggernaut (LA area)

Severed Savior - Question (bay area)

Decrepit Birth - Polarity (bay area)

The Faceless - The Ancient Covenant (LA area)

Dismal Lapse - Divide and Devour (bay area)

Fallujah - Carved From Stone (bay area)

Thanks for the list man. I like finding new music for my YT viddis all the time.

Brothers be like, why you have reggae in your videos, I'm like, 1) I love dancehall and 2) I don't want the same recycled music everyone has in their videos.

Now that is a pretty good f*cking radio.

Brian Posehn for a DJ would be pretty cool too.

No, sorry I don't think there are any Black Metal that would interest me, not even whatever sub genres you mean.

Black Metal is an abomination to the whole Metal scene.

Modern BM sounds like some melodic Eurovision crap, lol.

And the "evil omgz so evil" old school BM like Burzum is just awful, seriously awful.

Yeah the drums can be fast, I like fast drums, but the production usually make them sound like tin cans.

And don't get me started about BM vocals, lol.

Lol @ the argument "we're in 2016, metal is 2000 music". But ok, you're probably very young and are referencing to nu metal :/

Metalheads are a considerable percentage of any human group. There are headbangers in your office, school and even in your church. This leads to OP question, why not in GTA5/O? My guess? R* was planning a single player DLC with metal and hardrock soundtrack, like it was in TLAD. But then, considering kushcards the GTAO success, has abandoned the idea. So, no headbanging for us.

This. I can't see the reason why metal music is the "2000s" one. I'd rather have a metal station, than another radio station that plays rap or electronica. There's too many of them.

All that grindcore and core and grind bullsh*t is just all the same really, it just goes by how people in bands dress and look.

What?

Eeeh, what?

What's special about wearing t-shirts and jeans?

Sure some bands have some extra stuff like Haemorrhage that dress up like Pathologists, or Spasm that just freak out with latex and stuff. lol

But, 97% of the grind bands wear t-shirt and jeans, so please mate you are making a fool of your self here talking about stuff you know nothing about.

That is like judging ALL Heavy Metal based on Avril Lavigne metal cover & Deep Purple.

I was surprised that there wasn't a whole lot of "local" bands. Hollywood rock scene has been thriving for decades, and we have, what, nothing? Guns n' Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mötley Crüe and countless others. I guess licensing costs has been a problem. I have hard time believing that at the R* they haven't looked different genres hard, and studied it to the death.

Eg. Hardcore bands are just scene kids (duh its not 2003 anymore) hardcore punk are obviously punk and god knows about grind bands. The point is there are far too many sub genres that all just sound the same but claim to be different
