Why NOT METAL in RADIOS?

worldwide has some jazz innit.

Metal music is kinda 2000s, its era passed.

Metal music is not era passed, is more like Classical Music, stays forever.

I accept is era passed, if you think Classical is era passed too... but then should not be something to mind... Saints Row had both classical metal and was a really "modern" game.

honestly i'm surprised people still listen to metal in the year of 2016

Like it's people listening to classical music.

Both Genres are forever alive... not like most music in these radios.

Also there are many stations with really f*cked up music in terms of this decade trends, like the GLAM one or the PUNK one.

Metal passed my friend. it showed everything it had to offer. things like grindcore are a hybrid, so I wouldnt say its metal in general.

Well Im not into this music, so I dont know exactly what are new trends in it. can You show me please a Metal from 2016 that is distinctively different from the 2000s metal, and tell me what are the differencies? Im more in electronic music, which in 30 years evolved incomprehensible.

You can't please everyone, there are absolutely loads of genres of music and you can't have a station for each one or you'd be flicking through about fifty stations.

In fact with 19 stations you can include all those I said in OP really EASILY.

But we have a bunch of pop ones, a bunch of hiphop ones and a bunch of absolutely trendie electronic ones.

So it's a deliberate decision, not related to technical issues, not to quantity.

Yeah but people like pop, hip hop and indie electronica too. People also like heavy metal but you can't make a strong argument for dropping one popular genre in favour of another.

It's a joke there's no metal station. Would be awesome creating some chaos with a playlist containing the likes of

Limp Biscuit

Korn

Paparoach

POD

Heavy sh*t only

Some saying House Music, since it's LA. Los Santos is a replica of LA. How about a metal station with Nikki Sixx as the DJ?

not quitely, "dad", but I think You are not that confident to prove it, and help me to figure it out.

ok, mate that posted the Tenacious D have a point. not in first words, but in great technic that those two guys put in very first seconds of this track.

Sure guitar music has its rights, its flavor, but from my experience most of metal music i've heard was something between try-hard comedy and little bit silly gothic aura. I would like to hear metal music that suits our grim modern day.

I'm not a big music person, but I listen to rock. Idk what kind of rock it technically is or whatever, but I don't ever hear any of what you describe. "silly" or "try hard comedy".

isnt that unfair to classify sunn o))) as metal? I thought its more like industrial ambient/drone

I reckon every experimental music to be ageless, but things like below are some artifacts. good or bad, i dont judge, but are artifacts. if you ask for more metal, be more specific.

this looks hillarious AF :D

just as I edited above.

be more specific when asking for something.

can You imagine what kinda of sh*tstorm would appear when I have said that I want dubstep in GTA? and guess what: for my own sake I would had to specify that Im not a fan of sh*t You find in commercials or at CS:GO streams. AND PROVIDE AN EXAMPLE. thats all.

be more specific, not everything is good, so dont ask for general things. "we want more metal" makes me think that You want that clown sh*t. which aged badly.

You are doing a fantastic job of making yourself look like one of the most uneducated douche bags to ever grace this forum. Congratulations, kid. Please, as a favor to the world, stay in school.

I'm pretty sure the radios have metal in them. Plastic casing, but metal and metalloid internal mechanisms. It's a car, you know. Thing's made out of metal.

I agree they do need some more radio stations. I think they could take it further and the following:

Music App on your phone:

-The music app has every piece of music available in game. This also includes all ambient music.

-Your phone can connect to your car radio via a new bluetooth/phone icon on the radio wheel and will play what's currently set on your phone.

-You can wear headphones to listen to your phones music whenever you want. This way the headphones serve a purpose besides being a cosmetic item. For those that don't want over the ear headphones they could add ear buds.

-If they don't want to add more radio stations, they could add a music shop via an in game store, website or on the music app itself. The shop would feature additional music that you have to by to add to your phones library.

Imponte, how do you imagine Sunn O))) being in the car radio station? :) I think it doesnt fit much, but Tenacious D why not, they're cool. They've some distance to themselves, which as you can see above in post of dead goon, some people lacks.

edit: maybe it would have more sense for Sunn O))) being in the game, if the stations somehow played it at night. afterall its not that sunny music (get it?)

Or we can just upload our own playlists....

To be fair... Spotify works. For free.

It's a shame PMR (the 90's rock station) was replaced by sh*tty vinewood boulevard radio, other than that I'm fine with the next gen radio as it actually added really good songs that should have been on the original last gen version.

I would love an elite mlg dubstep station.

as long as I can time my stickybombs to the bass-drop I don't care if it's mainstream or 'indie'.

just give the wub some love.

No Gregorian Chant Station.

That's it. I'm playing Connect Four.

But seriously, not having a metal station for my metal heads and for me that likes to occasionally Up the Irons, is irresponsible of R*.

It's actually kinda surprising to me that there isn't a thrash-oriented station, as California was one of the hotbeds for thrash metal in the start, and it still is, although now it's kinda split between thrash metal and brutal death metal. The supposed "chaotic" nature of the music would fit well with Trevor and the general mayhem of the game.

On another forum we discussed this and I kinda came up with a... whatever word you guys use for hypothetical/wishlist DLC things for a station:

Neckwrecker FM

DJ: Brian Posehn - He's from California, has a distinct voice, should be able to come up with some funny banter, and likes metal.

Since California was kind of the origin of thrash in the US, the station would be focused on Californian thrash bands mostly, old and new. Some of the tracks were chosen specifically because they were slightly different from the rest, instead of just choosing the thrashiest/fastest song from each band. For example Testament's "Electric Crown" is one of their slower songs which allows it to stand out a little, and Uncle Slam is more of a crossover/thrash band, so on. There's also a mix of more well-known bands and some more obscure stuff, as well as some genre-blending.

Sort of the same way EfLC added the metal section to the hardcore station, it would also have a sort of "special brutal hour" segment, since there there is a big brutal/technical death metal scene in California nowadays. The brutal segment might have another DJ similar to how Max Cavalera handled the metal section on LCHC, and the two DJs could kind of mock each other.

Newer stuff:

Exmortus - Immortality Made Flesh (LA area)
Hatchet - Signals of Infection (bay area)
Hemotoxin - The Alchemist (bay area)
Warbringer - Hunter-Seeker (LA area)
Witchaven - Absolute Profit (LA area)
Nihilist - Destroyer (LA area)
Hexen - Grave New World (LA area)

Older stuff:

Exodus - Seeds of Hate (bay area)
Testament - Electric Crown (bay area)
Slayer - Black Magic (LA area)
Sadus - Fight or Die (bay area)
Dark Angel - Never To Rise Again (LA area)
Uncle Slam - Weirdo Man (LA area)
Metal Church - Ton of Bricks (bay area)
Suicidal Tendencies - How Will I Laugh Tomorrow? (LA area)
Holy Terror - Distant Calling (LA area)
EvilDead - F.C.I./The Awakening (LA area)

International stuff (mentioning how thrash is a worldwide thing blah blah):

Sodom - The Saw is the Law (Germany)
Blood Tsunami - Nothing but Contempt (Norway)
Witchery - Plague Rider (Sweden)
Expulsion - Police State Tranquility (Netherlands)

Brutal hour:

Exhumed - As Hammer to Anvil (bay area)
Deeds of Flesh - Rise of the Virvum Juggernaut (LA area)
Severed Savior - Question (bay area)
Decrepit Birth - Polarity (bay area)
The Faceless - The Ancient Covenant (LA area)

I agree about Classical and Jazz. Would love to see them return and provide a reasoned choice for some of the redundant crap offered on the radio.

When I played IV, I always had it on the Jazz station (when I had the music audio up). It was a nice counterbalance to the never ending spawn killing and death. That said, the PC players have it really cool with self radio. I'd make a 1930's acoustic blues station or another Jazz station.

The stations on V have been a step down in choice and quality. I don't care about rap, hip hop or what not electronic overproduced crap with some person rolling their ego over the top of it. No thanks. Even Los Santos Rock Radio isn't particularly well done. Belinda Carlisle, Don Johnson and even Gerry Rafferty? Uh, no. Even the presentation of it is cheesy.

You may say well there's a country station, but that station doesn't even have modern country on it. It's all old and twangy style, I would love for a country station featuring modern country.

I mean if the country station is full of older songs the argument that metal is too old kinda goes out the door imo

Personally i'd like some 70's, 80's and even 90's rock and metal tracks in gta online/v console radio, but that's why I go back to play VC, VC Stories and gta 4 with the (dlc tracks) to listen to those tracks on v-rock and liberty rock radio. They fit into the timeframe in those games and aren't coming back.
