Sex Appeal Trophy Help

Recommended Posts

Rhoda

You'd think with how old this game is and how often this topic seems to come up, I wouldn't be struggling, but I recently purchased San Andreas for PS4 with the intention of getting all the trophies. I've finished the story so everything is at my disposal, but I can't quite get full sex appeal. It's a fraction short, I can barely see it on the screen. My body is covered with tattoos, I have the "sexiest" haircut, I've tried both clothes from Didier Sachs and the gimp suit, I've tried several superb cars and I've kissed Denise, but I still can't get it to the maximum. It's honestly frustrating because I'll have probably aced this trophy when I was 15. What am I missing? Just to clarify:

  • I've tried clothes from Didier Sachs, including the tweed suit and the tuxedo
  • I've tried the gimp suit
  • I've tried driving the Banshee, Turismo and Infernus
  • I've tried blonde cornrows and the groove cut
  • I'm full of tattoos
  • My muscle is full
  • I've collected all oysters, but I don't this pertains to the trophy
  • I've kissed Denise on a date

I'm going insane. Please help me.

There's a wardrobe trick to maximizing sex appeal, but you'll probably still need the bonus from a good car too - I'm not at all sure how the trophy is supposed to work. Anyway, go into a wardrobe and remove (don't replace) CJ's best item - the tweed jacket, then put it on again. This should, if the PS4 version works like PS2 and PC, add the appeal from his clothing without removing the appeal from the previous item, so the bonuses will stack. Getting a haircut, and... similar activities (buying clothes? Sorry, I forget the details, it's been a while) may force a complete recalculation so you'll lose the stacking bonuses.

Now that you mention it, i am wearing exactly the same on my 100% save, and my current save. I have 50% (100% in a Infernus) on my 100% save, and 49% (99% in a Infernus) on my 54% save.

I think I'm up to 99% too, I might be having the same trouble as you.

I'll try this now.

NINJA EDIT: Just tried it, and the trophy popped, thank you for letting me know about this exploit. I had no idea it worked like that even as far back as the PS2 version. Very frustrating. I do wonder what I was missing in order to get this trophy "legitimately"? As for how the trophy works, all you need is 100% sex appeal but it seems to go off the bar, because oysters seem to have done nothing to aid me in getting it.

I noticed that you can get more sex appeal by getting one haircut first and then replacing it with another. I need to re-test it to give you the combo that gives you 15% instead of the 10% you would get for Cornrow alone.

Edit: It only works with certain combinations.

The Oyster bonus might help CJ's appeal a little, but most of the effect it so lower the preference settings of the girlfriends. Lot's of money might help too. Sex appeal is a complicated mess of mixed stats.

The Wardrobe Trick originated with bamspeedy1298's Stats FAQ on GameFAQs. A few notes that might help with your investigation:

The only people that have used the wardrobe trick recently are Master Save player's trying to get Michelle's racing suit without completing any missions. The trick requires getting Michelle as a girlfriend without the oyster bonus, and since she's met within an interior you can't get a bonus from the car and must maximize sex appeal by removing and replacing the white tank 33+ times since it's the only clothing available with any sex appeal bonus, and it's tiny so it takes a while. The tweed jacket has a huge bonus, but anything with any bonus will work, and the key factor is to remove the item to keep it's bonus, whatever goes on next will be added - it doesn't need to be the same item.

IIRC, tattoos work in much the same manner as the wardrobe trick... The bonuses stack but I don't remember the procedure. The tattoos bonuses are fairly small, a decent clothing item is much more effective.

Haircuts were warned against as the most likely way to reset everything to what it ought to be. The general rule was to do the haircuts first.

Clothing Guide: If I understand the values correctly, total sex appeal is equal to 200, with 100 from appearance and another 100 from the car. The values in the guide appear to be taken directly from the data files - shopping.dat. This plane text file is usually easy to read, even on PS2 (stick the disk in a PC), but I suspect the data files aren't easy to read on PS4. I can't find a reliable online reference, so I'm not sure what to suggest to provide values for tattoos and haircuts.

Very interesting, I had no idea the sex appeal stat was so complicated.

I found haircuts to be the most inconsistent factor, as the appeal seems to decrease after negative comments given from pedestrians. I'm not sure what the rate of change is, and whether the opposite effect is caused from positive comments. One place I checked said to get a new haircut directly before a date to ensure sex appeal is at its maximum for that particular style.
