Right, I've had a few people tell me that the weekly winner competition could be improved by having it based off of the highest liked image, I never actually intended to turn it into a competition, but this should be fun.

As of today, the winners will be based off of the highest liked images.

The crysis cooldown rule will still be in place.

I think I'll roll with these, but probably redo them. Be busy this week but they should be ready next Sat (hope so)

I doubt it will turn into that, I don't think it's the competition side of that thread that has everyone arguing so this should be fine.

TBH if Weekly Winner competition is now judged by likes, then how would that be fair to a user who has posted their edit closer to the specified deadline (Usually Mondays) than another user who has posted their's 4 whole days ago? How would it be fair for a user who has edited a pic that had been released and contributed a few hours before the winner was announced?

 

People don't usually get millions of likes five seconds after they've posted their edit, even if it had more effort put into it than a piece that has been around for 3 days or so.

 

To me it seems like this is turning more into a strategic plan on when to release things, so you get more likes, and therefore win easily, which can be exploited easier than the former formula for Weekly Favorite.

 

For example:

 

User 1: *Posts Contribution*

User 2: *Edits pic and submits* *Gets 8 Likes over the course of 4 days*

4 days later....

User 3: *Edits to the level of Da Vinci and Michaelangelo and submits* *Gets 1 or 2 likes over the course of an hour*

Mr_Zombly or Myself: The Winner was User 2.

 

See my point? This little competition would no longer be based on effort put into said piece and more upon getting your edit out there faster than the speed of sound, and how well it does in terms of likes in the time until announcements.

 

The Snapmatic Comp close their thread for a few days to see how many likes it gets, so it's all fair. We can't do that to keep this thread going. This isn't an official thread, so therefore, it cannot be closed without it becoming tedious and annoying to all those that just want to mess around, have fun and enjoy what funny pics people create, which would then lead us to losing a lot of our usuals around here. Hell, this thread has evolved from pissing about 100% of the time to being a competition and that all at the same time.

 

I'll still create specially-crafted userbars and all that stuff I usually do anyways, I just need answers. I just want to make sure users don't get an unfair "doomed from the start" sorta moment.

f*ck, lol, never thought of that. I guess if anyone has any work arounds and better fair ways to decide winners, please send them to me. I'll make sure to think i through and listen to what people want.

As long as ONE person doesn't choose the weekly winner that itself can be a doomed from a start

It's not about winning or losing its how they get there and being fair friendly one.if you do have a weekly winner its made to be a competition even if you do not intended to do so no if or buts, heck you could even scrap the whole thing

True, the weekly favourite thingy was more of a way of showing off some images, it's completely up to you guys whether you want it to be a community vote and more competitive or whether it should even still exist.
