Time Trial #22 "Down Chiliad"

I've gotten much much better at negotiating the slopes of chiliad on foot without dying in the inevitable Sanchez retrieval. Best time I've completed with is a pathetically slow 58 seconds.

An info just in case: if you bank all your money it will cost you 500$ everytime you die.

Keep some cash in your pockets, if you die it will be completely free.

Obviously I lost around 20K without knowing it.

First fail is the best, but I had over 2hrs of footage of "attempts", so thrown some of the highlights in a video. I also call bullsh*t on the "you left your vehicle" line, if you check the footage it's quite clear the bike left me...

I finally got around to testing the cargobob with the new not-quite-passive-mode in Time Trials, hoping to drop a clip of me beating this in a Journey or Airport Bus or something, but you still can't hook up :/

Ye they seemed to mess it up in the last one and fixed it

This trial can eat an entire bag of dicks. Good lord. The 2nd half, if you can get to it, isn't so bad; the problem is the first half, where my bike might as well be a rock I just sent skipping across the ocean, for all the control I have of it. I keep thinking, "Hey, I just learned something! Steer a little more right there and you just miss that rock and get a smooth jump to the next stretch of trail!" Cue next attempt: I'm flailing around in mid-air at the point I meant to be steering right, I glance off the aforementioned rock (really a boulder with a face, which is laughing at me), and then I hold down the respawn button, hoping against hope that the bar will fill up before I reach the end of the comically large leap I'm taking right off the side of the mountain. (It never fills up. Ever.)

I would enjoy this trials more if you didn't HAVE to get back to your f***ing bike when you fell off. Just let us teleport to the stupid top of the mountain..

I believe this may be how Rockstar wanted us to complete the ending of this time trial.

Today is the first time I've sat down and really gone at this time trial, and after spending a couple of hours and only having about 15 attempts I just got sick of it. The mechanics of the time trials, when using a motorbike, are just terrible. I've spent less time completing most of the time trials than I have spent in the clouds or chasing my bike on this one.

However, I don't like to just moan about things - I like to do something about them. So, here's this week's time trial in race format for PS4...

http://rsg.ms/5fea698 (If the link doesn't work first time, close the tab and then click it again. Well don't Rockstar devs.)

You can't put a checkpoint where the start of the time trial is, so I put one as close as I could and put flags where the trial starts. If you stop there and take note of the time, then you can try the time trial with the ease of just respawning back at the beginning when you fail. I'd also recommend taking the first half of the run nice and slow, so you get to practise the second half more. Once you've got that down then try doing the whole thing.

I'm yet to complete the time trial properly, but I've done it a few times in this race now and I feel I know the route that works for me. It's definitely gonna help me get this crap out of the way so I can start to enjoy the game again.

Good luck to everyone still fighting this!

Edit: Just one other thing I noticed, that may help some. I usually favour the rear wheel and landing in a wheelie position on most bikes, when falling from height. The Sanchez seems to favour the front wheel. I pretty much went from landing nothing to landing everything as soon as I figured that out.

^ I hope that helps some of you on PS4 who haven't beaten it, and good luck to you Furry_Monkey, and everyone still trying/about to try.

I tried this rage-inducing death trap for a good (or bad, I should say) 3-4 hours before I beat it. I was in such disbelief when it happened, I went all the way back up just to check, lol. I did it during the dark on a Sanchez without my headlight on, barely scraping by with a time of 54.04.

That's bad I know, but all I care is that it's done, and I never have to experience the agony of rolling down the mount again and again, hopelessly chasing my bike as it somehow slides further and further, then claiming back up just to bump a rock and go spiraling through the air, and watching my bike icon zoom downhill once more.

Good luck with that Furry.

Also, I actually made the same track but for PC to use for doing the Job Join teleporting. :p

I never uploaded it though..

Finally.

The race definitely helped. I didn't choose any of the bounces, but at least I knew what was coming after each one.

Well this all looks horrible.

It is. But the terrible (basically absent) reset mechanics make it a thousand times worse than it ought to be. If you could easily reset to the start after every crash, most of us could probably finish this in an hour. The brutal part is the endless flying all over the mountain, chasing your bike, switching lobbies and launching bogus jobs just to get your bike back.

And done... Many swear words and now I'm off to kill many innocent things, and some might be in a video game

Grand%20Theft%20Auto%20V_20160212192045.

About 6hours in total, 5 of which must have been rag dolling down a hill after a cocking motorbike.

Glad you made it. I almost felt a bit guilty completing it with you in the session. Almost :p

Lol I'd left by then, bike started smoking and it's easier to switch sessions than call a new bike up there.

So am I right when I say that no one has finished this in a car? I might be bored enough to give this a try in something with 4 wheels later on tonight...

Wow, never seen so much bitching, it wasn't even that bad.

I got it 3rd try on my Sanchez, one of the few time trials I've even beaten...

Then you were extremely lucky. Be thankful - this was the most trying of the time trials.

Possibly the fact that this trial requires 99% luck?

Heres my record anyway:

I only made it to the 2nd half like 5 times. The other 400 tries I smashed myself up before I even got to the part where the road splits..

If any of you haven't played Trials HD you really should, if only to get this respawn trauma out of your system.

True story - between spotting in BF3 and restarting in Trials I wore my 'back' button down to below the controller case.
