Dear r* (regarding overall female clothing choices)

Quinn_flower I couldnt agree more, great points rasied well done!, ive been wondering if anyone else was feeling this way concerning the female clothing options, theres no nice dresses to choose from and the nail, toenail polish would be a worthy addition too.why can we not purchase the stripper clothing also? The shoes, thigh high boots etc? and why do our online characters feet look like a 90 year womens? why not use the same modelling as the in game female characters that go about with nice painted nails and normal looking feet ! why cant my character where the arm length long black gloves?cause there patched, but why?Why are there no patterned tights apart from 1 ? and hard to believe they havnt added a little black dress? body piercings or long hair ? makes no sense ...hopefully we see more improvements for female design options...i would even pay for a clothing add on or download if one was released containing the things id like added.

The "Leggings" aren't even leggings. They're leather pants. The leggings should have the texture that the stockings do. . . in all honesty.

Well with the devs most likely being Brits, leggings fits their lingo. What you're describing they'd call tights.

But with the game being set in the US they should have really used the American words.

Oversight on their part I think.

It's 2016 and you have yet add knee high boots with real black leggings not that crap u gave us.

Went to log on today and saw my knee high outfit was patched.....smh. Like seriously maybe now based on how many females used this glitch just to get knee high on leggings and boots you would add this with out glitching which should of been at launch!

I mean do u have a female working on the art design of the clothing for online? If not you need to go to a fashion show because clearly u do not know fashion.

Why do I have to use a mod menu or glitch to make a outfit that I see the npc's wearing already!

God your so incompetent I mean what was wrong with wearing knee high leggings? Seriously if it has clipping issues then get off your butts and fix it. While we are add it add proper black leggings call them dark black leggings idk the vip ones were perfect and made my outfit look cute.

Seriously the clothing that's been coming out as for late isn't really for females it's more geared for guys making their toon look like dude.

Ask any female gamer and they will tell what needs to be improved on our side...

Idk this is bitch and moan but many of us have been waiting for proper layering and actual female clothing that some of us uses.

Why can't I wear leather straps with a necklace unless it's the gold cuffs. Why can't I wear boots with jeans? Why no long hair or nail polish r*. Stop making the game geared more to males seriously. There are a lot of gamers who are female and you need to stop ignoring us.

Valentine's Day update yay underwear and stockings ok that's fine now next update is more clothes that look like its for guys. -_-

Go to fashion school or look on Pinterest steal a few ideas idc how u do it but seriously the female clothing need to be overhaul ASAP.

I have the male version of your problem since at times it's hard to put a shirt and suit together I mean rockstar has put so much clothing in here they should just let you wear whatever you want and fix any clipping glitches as fast as they fix glitches that cut into their shark card profits

My aesthetic sensibilities would be satisfied if they ever added outfits like these in the game:

Alas, Rockstar's idea of "good" street fashion is in the wrong place. I mean drop crotch pants? f*ck me.

ok.....

1. saints row had adult themed clothing we do not

2. everything is butched styled

3. light up jumpsuits really? is that what the kids are into these day oh wait...... yes they are..light up shoes as well

4. they know well the only people who play as girls are men or teen boys so why do we have to give actual thought in clothing for females since guys only play it...

5. gta is kind tame compared to apb or saints row in terms of content....like a pg 13 rating....why no catsuits or pasites or heck a dildo san andreas had it why not this? oh r* has to save face because angry parents will start to complain and yada yada....look r*isnt ur babysitter like go and actually raise your kids. sorry but some parents these days are questionable.

oh remember we live in the oh im offended era...

also this research from google...

like really?? girls dont play games....smh.......liesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

so what makes you think r* doesnt know their core audience. who goes out to gamestop with mom and dad and buy gta. 3 years now r* aint stupid they know teen boys play gta. gta is like a daycare for kids since some parents dont want to deal with them. its called rated m not E or T. but quinn we played gta as a kid too yes but it wasnt as graphic and the world was different than how it is now. sorry but kids runied gta online since R* knows thats their cash cow.

Very true . . . my 14 year old brother is a testament to this.

What Generation am I? Apparently I'm generation Z, the older portion of it.

Saints Row games actually cater to its adult audience with older tropes and jokes and adult clothing, very true. GTA O is watered down in that portion. . . and if the majority of female avatars are played by guys

*Raises hand*

Wouldn't the clothes be more sultry and "good looking", very true. GTA often causes unnecessary controversy due to its younger audience who shouldn't be playing anyway . . . so parents have no base to complain when the kids shouldn't be playing . . . it is a RATED M/PEGI 18 game anyway . . . sooooo.

I'm hoping in RDR2, they fix the customization, treating as a pre cursor to the next GTA Online. There shouldn't be an excuse, now that this would be the first next gen game they make. Here's to hoping I can play as a Native American.

The next gunrunning DLC I hope so bad that they add some good stuff. Or there's a DLC between now and Gun running.

i had an idea for a thread about r* catering to kids

See, this is basically it, IMO - and by 'kids', I'm thinking more specifically 'squeakers'.

That's why most updates come with dozens of new tattoos, and why we got those awful Bieber-style low-crotch pants with Import/Export. That's also why the disproportionate emphasis on modern hypercars/exotics/luxury cars - because these are the kinds of tweens who make up the bulk of viewers of your average 'yells nonsense into a headset mic' YouTuber, and when you've got the likes of KSI and Typical Gamer buying Lamborghinis off the back of their YouTube ad revenue/product adverts... :rol:

Beyond that, there's the 'internal metrics' problem - as in, R* tracks what people are buying, what's popular, etc., and that's part of why the doubling-down on all the above. And there's an obvious downside to that approach:

How does R* gauge the in-game popularity of anything that ...isn't in the game?

For example, I'm still kinda sore that it took so long to get the Elegy Retro - but at least the volume of players buying it might send a message to R* that cars from that era/niche are a popular draw. But with clothes and whatnot, they've put in so little of the sort of thing being suggested in this thread, that there's very little way for players who want better to 'vote with their wallets' - not helped by the fact that you can only buy an item of clothing once, rather than being able to buy/modify a particular model of car as many times as you want, or even summon a particular Pegasus vehicle more than others.

So instead, you've got R* trying to capitalise on easy squeaker-bait - and partly because it works for that demographic/partly because it's 'new', people will rush out and buy all the 'BIGNESS' stuff or whatever, which in turn sends the message to R* that 'people want more of that stuff!'. :bored:

I'm reminded of the video Jim Sterling made about game publishers and ...pasta sauces (no, really!) - specifically how Prego came to realise that when trying to find the perfect blend of pasta sauce for their audience, there was an entire 1/3 of sauce customers who wanted 'extra-chunky'. And at that time, there were ZERO companies making 'extra-chunky' pasta sauce - i.e., there was a huge demand for something that didn't exist. At least, not until Prego (and then all the others) realised that they were leaving money on the table, and actually started supplying that demand :turn:

...I don't think I need to explain how that's an analogy for this whole situation, eh? ;)

It's a good video, btw - well worth a watch, if you like to have a cynical snark about bone-headed business decisions:

Main thing is just getting R* to realise that the demand is there - because at the moment, again, all they're getting is a feedback loop of positive reinforcement for the stuff they're already doing. And yeah, what they're doing is basically 'this is what's trendy with Young People™'... :sigh:

I'm sorry you mispelled Jim f*cking Sterling thank God for him.

But he is right. And you know what? R* has to see it. They released IGG, EAOC,FAFF, then finally Lowriders and Bikers - and praise, happiness, and probably sales rose by tapping into the 1/3rd they are missing.

Gunrunning is set to bring more military stuff people want, people are hyped and excited in the military community.

Nightlife DLC being next could bring even more.

R* have to see it. If not.

Someone call Jim f*cking Sterling.

Y'know, I wish Rockstar would let us Crossdress. I mean, Trevor can wear a f*cking dress, why can't my effeminate online character wear a dress or a skirt or whatever the hell he wants? I mean, I can have pink lipstick on my character, what's the harm in going a step further and giving males the entirety of the female wardrobe, albeit with a few mesh tweaks, bust stil! It should be doable....Hell, there's actual male NPCs hanging out at certain bars in dresses and high heels and stuff...

Oh, so much to unpack with this, it's incredible:

- implying that 'being cool' and 'dressing cool' are somehow incompatible

- no, really - one of the first things you do in Vice City is pick out a fancy suit to look the part for a meeting... :turn:

- er, you do know it's 'Grand Theft Auto', right? By that 'logic', all we should ever do is steal cars. Nothing else. No killing - just steal cars.

...oh, wait - now I see what this is:

In fact, there are more clothes than anything.

omg wtf i share one opinion and its a hellstorm of hate and propaganda

firstly since when is the gta forums the wrong place to voice an opinion on gta..

second how is what i said dumb? i just dont want the games pixels and memory wasted tryna make 10000 different womens outfits when theres more important stuff like guns and cars after all this is a killing game NOT dress ups

i just dont get this topic and thought id let my opinion be heard, i dont understand why so many people think there needs to be more girls outfits its so overboard as it is, what the game really needs is more killing and less fancy dress like the good old days of gta, even gta 4 had less outfits than gta online and i dont remember anyone complaining about that idk

OT: if they really do need to add more womens clothes they should start by adding cool gangster clothes because after all this is grand theft auto not keeping up with the kardashians

What you did is the equivalent of walking up to a group of people discussing their favorite comic books and telling them that their hobby is stupid. No sh*t you're gonna get hate. Also, propaganda? Do you even know what that means?

Hahahahahahahahahaha

Well if your saying that then men has enough cars to play with. And no the female clothing is trash it's just a modified version of the men fit to the female bodies.

Look you and those this isn't the sims people can go somewhere. Your not a. A female b. A male who has fashion sense.

That response is like r* mindset lets cater to the men more than the females/guys who like to cosplay who play this game.

It's the same mentality why gta doesn't have a lead female prototagist. Still pisses me off 3 characters all male like seriously?! R* get with the times horizon, tomb raider, new uncharted have female leads and they are amazing games with a good story.

Oh I know why....r* thinks only men or teen boys only play gta so a female proto won't connect to some of them they think.......smh lol. R* just hire me I would change a lot of things from the female side to make it on the same level as the males.

Alot of good points on here and I cant disagree, however much I keep hoping for that "nightlife" dlc I kinda think it may never happen. The casino thing never happened because of squeakers would end up getting their parents to use real money etc. Even though they covered it up with some micro trans bs being the real reason. Isnt shark cards like that?

Even if they did it might end up being like a watered down dlc of TBoGT which would suck. R* logic catering for kids. But you can get a prostitute in the game, you can go to strip clubs in the game etc. Not gonna lie Im not keeping my hopes up anymore, and this gunrunning dlc guaranteed military clothes like COD/Battlefield probably another jet or two...*sigh*

I can understand where you're coming from, but you really have to understand why a lot of us here want this done to some extent or some of it.

Layering items is really limited and I'm sure you seen this yourself, female characters can't even where certain accessories without having to sacrifice something else. Same goes for male characters too but it's not so limited. Quinn and the others feel very strongly about this. We see ALL these npc with pretty cool looking clothes but yet we have ZERO access to them, why?

Because Rockstar wants us to look like sh*t and not give more variety that's already in game not available to us. If we find a way to actually do this it gets patched/hot fixed within hours or by the next update.

One example maybe 2

Bandanas for th face...the community asked for this 3 YEARS AGO. We get them with Heists but it wasn't what was specifically asked for. You know what they gave us? A stupid hat and glasses with it. Then we find a way to remove two of them and they patch it out. We find another way and latest update they fully patch it out, why? WE WANT OPTIONS and they seem to not like that at all.

That could have been satisfactory if they had given us BOTH options with and with out, period.

Now on to certain t-shirts that cannot be worn with certain pants, panties etc. I'm speaking on pure experience.

Back in 2016 I believe my female character wore the I heart LC shirt with bikini bottoms. Later down the line I noticed it was gone bc we was able to save the xmas stuff as an outfit. So I was going to have to redo her outfit without the Santa hat. Guess what? Couldn't bc they made it to where you can't wear a lot of specific bottoms with tops like that i.e. Grey prison break tshirt for female prisoner. Yet male characters can literally run around practically butt naked? See my point?

We just want better choices, layering and able to wear what we want how we want too no matter how ridiculous it may look.

I get your complaints but it's really not as simple as you say, just because an NPC is wearing something does not mean the player character can wear but Rockstar's just restricting it, NPC clothing is specifically for the specific NPC model. If you tried equipping any NPC clothes on a player it would look ridiculous, e.g. the torso/legs/whatever would be entirely disproportionate to the rest of the body.

. . . I dunno if you're trolling or if you're genuine. :/

Because back then, GTA (2008) wasn't about online. At that point in history, Single Player made or broke your game. Not everything was seamless. The 2010's are all about MMO's/Customization and mass online components.

In my opinion, along with everyone else's in here, the fact that we see all these NPCs, both male and female, dressed up so proper and look so different and pleasant looking, compared to our lackluster clothing and bodies, is mind boggling.

My prime example for this, is the valley girl who works at the Suburban shops. More thought should've went into the texturing and physique of our characters for sure.

-Dresses, Spring Dresses, putting a jacket ontop of the leather jackets

-Heeled boots?

-Cardigans?

-Textured bodies that dont make us look like amazon warriors?

If you can add vehicle deathraces up in the sky, than our gripes aren't all that far fetched.

Your argument that this is "GTA" is a fallacy. Its not all about killing, there's an opulence and the urge to make your mark. Fast cars, high life etc. . .

Dressing like a Bozo in LOS ANGELES! of all friggin places, ruins that.

Not everyone wants to walk around wearing warpaint and heavy body armor in a spin off of Los Angeles. Some of us have fashion sense.

We see ALL these npc with pretty cool looking clothes but yet we have ZERO access to them, why?

Because Rockstar wants us to look like sh*t and not give more variety that's already in game not available to us. If we find a way to actually do this it gets patched/hot fixed within hours or by the next update.

Yeah they would have to make the proper adjustments or basically make a variation similar to it, but that won't happen lol.

Happy Hunter

women have enough clothes

That's like, an oxymoron or something. An impossibility.

Give them more clothes, Rockstar.

omg wtf i share one opinion and its a hellstorm of hate and propaganda

firstly since when is the gta forums the wrong place to voice an opinion on gta..

second how is what i said dumb? i just dont want the games pixels and memory wasted tryna make 10000 different womens outfits when theres more important stuff like guns and cars after all this is a killing game NOT dress ups

i just dont get this topic and thought id let my opinion be heard, i dont understand why so many people think there needs to be more girls outfits its so overboard as it is, what the game really needs is more killing and less fancy dress like the good old days of gta, even gta 4 had less outfits than gta online and i dont remember anyone complaining about that idk

OT: if they really do need to add more womens clothes they should start by adding cool gangster clothes because after all this is grand theft auto not keeping up with the kardashians

Late to the party, but as has already been said, that's not what propaganda means. At all.

Also, again, GTA isn't 'a killing game'. It's a crime game, with cars and shooting. And arguably, the cars come first - it's in the friggin' name, after all... :sigh:

But beyond that, it's a bit late to start complaining about adding to the creative/non-combat side of things, considering R* adds cosmetic items with almost every update*, as well as things like, oh, I dunno...

...an exhaustive video/photo editing suite. And that's after they built an in-game selfie camera into GTA V. But sure, anything that ain't 'killing' is a poor fit for the game... :turn:

(also lol at the idea that 'pixels and memory' are being eaten up by all this stuff - aside from the 'that's not how any of that works' side of it, there's also the small detail that in moving a last-gen game to current-gen, R* gave the game a vast amount of power and resources to play with, and we're nowhere near reaching the point of taxing the current hardware)

Overall, complaining about R* adding clothes is like complaining that they've added more cars with an update. That ship sailed when R* added extensive wardrobe options in single-player, and again when the very first GTAO update (Beach Bum) added a huge assortment of additional clothes. Like it or loathe it, that's just a core part of the game. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

*thing is, you almost managed to come close to getting why this whole thread/effort exists - because R* do put in a lot of clothes every time, true. But they're all-too-often ...naff. And particularly low-effort for female characters, too (like they're just a cheap reuse of stuff designed for male characters, even if they don't fit properly). And with every update that adds awful clothes that no-one was asking for, that's time, resources and space in an update wasted on rubbish, that could have gone on something popular, new, and actually good.

Oh, and 'cool gangster clothes'? Depends what you mean by 'gangster' - and IMO, if your talking either 'street gangs' or 'mobsters', surely we've had whole updates devoted to those (two Lowrider updates and two retro Valentine's Day ones, in fact) - ?

M*A*R*I*N*A

women have enough clothes this isnt barbie this is grand theft kill, game is not about clothes and handbags its about being cool and shooting guns

Great idea! We could so use handbags. Imagine having handbags that hold extra ammo? Like, you have 20 sticky bombs but you got another 10 sticky bombs in your handbag?

Majority of clothing in this game is geared towards males and even though some of those with female characters can really work the masculine styles it gets boring so fast. We ALL play differently and if you prefer to kill than so be it. I like to dress my character up to be super cute and just race vehicles because that's how I play. I barely use weapons unless it's a GTA race, see how we differ? Like someone else said, this thread isn't a debate as to whether or not there should be more variety of female clothes, it's more or less just ideas for more clothes. If you got nothing constructive to put in then get out.

That's something I've spotted before - beyond NPCs getting nice clothes that don't have player character equivalents (and it's not a question of clipping/animations, because there are other player-character garments in-game that function in the same way), there's even a whole lot of really nice stuff in our own in-game wardrobes that don't actually exist to buy in shops.
