Dear r* (regarding overall female clothing choices)

It annoys me that the shoes that come with the CS outfits aren't available to buy, those pink canvas shoes, they're hella cute.

Chucks, flats, whatever. I wish there was a knee-high socks option.

I wish too... it'd complete my Student outfit. ._.

I imagine wearing that with the off white tank top, or even the rolled tank top, alongside high waist jeans . . . :(((((((((((((

Ughhhhhhhhhhhh... and judging by whats coming, we won't be seeing significant changes, maybe military wise, but everyday stuff, very slim.

...dusting off this thread, because I'm a 'never say die' kind of person, and I reckon that while GTAO is still getting updates, "Not yet, Snake - it's not over yet!" ;)

mgs_542.jpg

I'm still convinced that the best thing to do is 'lots of people asking for the same, consistent list of things'. One person spamming is still one person - and multiple people asking for different things is multiple requests competing for attention.

(and on top of that, people throwing in stuff that simply can't be achieved with pre-production assets and whatnot already in GTAO - sadly, long hair, for example - makes it easier for R* to ignore an entire wishlist outright, because they'll just notice the implausible stuff and dismiss it)

As for the next update, and the next update we're likely to see any improvements, I'm not convinced we are getting another small 'filler' thing between now and the arms dealing thing - and the military-esque update obviously isn't the most logical place for R* to add the things people are asking for here. And in any case, nothing we say now is going to affect either of those, because they're probably a done deal by this point.

If the last two years are a decent barometer for R*'s year-by-year scheduling, I'd say we've got probably two decent-sized updates coming after the gun-running update (particularly because at the end of the year, R*'s going to want to devote Newswire space to RDR2, so GTAO's probably not going to get any earth-shattering new content - not until the Red Dead novelty's worn off a bit!).

If that's something like a late-ish Summer update in July/August (think Cunning Stunts/Ill-Gotten Gains), and an early-October thing (Lowriders/Bikers), then any suggestions and feedback might just get added to the Summer thing, or get more thoroughly integrated into the theme of the Autumn (Fall! ;)) thing. Or something like that.

What bugs me is it's not a matter of 'too butch' or 'too sexy' - I've been playing the heck out of Saints Row IV recently, and despite it being a game where you're zipping around the city with superpowers, using guns modelled on everything from Star Trek to RoboCop, all the while wearing whatever you fancy (Mechagodzilla suit? Nipple pasties? Cardigan and some comfy slippers? No matter how niche your tastes may be, there's probably something for you in there! :pp), it's still really impressive how you can just put on something nondescript in a variety of plain colours, and go for a perfectly reasonably everyday look for your character.

This is actually a broader problem with the game, IMO - see also: the lack of more affordable sports/muscle cars, because R* apparently wants to prioritise the sorts of things that every wannabe YouTube celeb dreams of owning. Hence why an older Mustang (be it Mach 1 or Foxbody) or something like a 240SX or MX-5 doesn't exist in GTA, despite being entry-grade things for custom car enthusiasts - and yet it's just assumed that everyone in GTAO wants to own dozens of garishly-customised million-dollar hypercars.

...no, seriously - said this before, but R* seems to think we all want to be this guy (emphasis on the 'guy' part):

I wouldn't mind being able to have a long scar like that on my character.

obHJSBm.jpg

The facial scars in the game don't stick and look more like diarrhea splatter than an actual scar.

Maybe someone on PC with access to mods could make some concept/promotional videos for this thread?

As I said, I'll wait for the next update before I explode, if nothing changes, I'm all for a concentrated effort to make people's voices be heard, be it messaging, etc.

A video, explaining all the crap wrong with the clothing system, would do wonders, just as the biker thingy did.

Well, unless R* decides to throw in a bunch of unrelated stuff in with gun-running (because I really, really doubt there's going to be another smaller thing between now and then), I don't expect anything to improve with that update, if only because it's just not very likely thematically. Probably better to just start making noise sooner rather than later - there's maybe a chance of it making an impact by any Summer update, or more likely something later in the year. But waiting until after gun-running (which could be as late as June, IMO)? They might already be too far into the next update after that for any feedback to have an effect.

As for video, ehh... Maybe something that helps get people on board with asking R* for more/better clothing options, but it's fair to say that such videos mainly work to get players engaged with the idea, not R*. At best, something like the 'Bikers Unite' one, since that at least broke things down (and in hindsight, the Bikers update did deliver most of what was requested) - just with a less cringe-y, entitled tone (I re-watched it, and all the 'give back to the true fans' stuff... *sucks air through teeth*).

Definitely not something like 'Tuners & Outlaws', with the whole 'mock-up trailer' look - that's less useful; for spelling out specifics (and particularly since 'new and different clothing' isn't really enough for an entire update theme). It's fair to say that the nearest we've gotten to that was Import/Export - which is to say, not very close at all. :bored: Something shorter, with specific things broken down, is probably going to be more effective, IMO.

...and I still say that all of that's moot, if it doesn't translate to many people asking R* for it directly. After all, one person nagging can be dismissed as 'one persistent person wanting something' - R*'s less likely to respond to that than a decent number of people all asking for the same things.

Hm, true, the guy in that video sounds very entitled . . . If I were to make a video, it would be a straight up rant, comparing the clothes quality to other open world games. Yes, this is GTA, but if you're going to include this feature, you might as well make it up to par? Customization is core to MMO's, so of course we have a legitimate standing to critique what we have to wear.

So basically, I would just rant and give examples, not talk about how we were ignored for too long, since if you go to any chatroom GTAO related, everyone is in consensus that the clothes suck.

Hell..even my 14 year old brother says the clothes suck, and wishes for better "black people" textured hair, among other things. It's all across the board...but the nagging question is where is the window to file a complaint/lobby, since they're constantly working on something new?

The gunrunning update, could bring us some stuff, like accessories, etc. but I'm not sure what cosmetically. We could use more tank tops. We already have different camo pants. We could use holsters. Camo tassel scarfs, etc. You're right when there isnt much they can give us within that update.

I agree, something specific. Quinn's opening rant for this thread is something that compares to "simple." What's more simple than wishing for more everyday clothing options instead of a crushed banana crop top that's out of focus or a sweater vest thats 10x too big for my body? I dunno my friend.

Thing is, when it comes to approach/tone, being angry/demanding is normally a bad move. Start the conversation with 'I insist you do ____!' or 'WTF R* WHY DO YOU SUCK SO MUCH??' is ...well, it's not really going to make them more receptive, is it? ;)

With things like this, it actually helps that a lot of what folk in this thread want is reasonable, everyday stuff - because that's really good framing: 'ever noticed how weird it is we don't have ____?'. Particularly when combined with 'why is it we can have something outlandish like _____, but not something as normal as ______?'. It frames the entire thing as a worthwhile point in itself, in how reasonable it is - that way, the whole thing doesn't need to devolve into ranting or entitlement (and yeah, I get that 'asking for stuff in a videogame' is the very definition of entitlement! ;)).

As for what, in terms of examples, well, probably a good idea to hammer out a list of realistic 'must-have' additions, and make that the backbone of the effort. Like I've said before, when it comes to the 'everybody e-mail the same thing to R*' stage, it makes sense for ...everyone to be e-mailing R* with the same thing! :p

For example, if you've got one person asking for 'dresses!' and another for 'boots!', that's fine - but if they're asking for one and not the other, then they're competing with each other for attention. If both ask for both, then R* sees multiple requests from different players for 'boots and dresses!' - instead of competing, each person reinforces one another, and repeatedly drives the same message home.

Same applies to keeping things realistic in terms of scale/mechanics - once again, putting in highly-unlikely things like 'body sliders' or 'hair physics' both saps attention away from the realistic requests, and makes the whole thing less reasonable. That's another thing I'm sure worked against 'Tuners & Outlaws' - because the bulk of suggestions were implausible things like 'manual transmission' or 'upgrade every in-game car model to include new custom parts', the whole thing became easier to dismiss, and so all that did end up coming into the game that vaguely resembled the concept were a couple of Benny's tuners, including a widebody Comet. 'Bikers Unite' mostly stuck to doable stuff (long beards and facial piercings aside - sorry, but GTAO's character models just don't work that way...), and so Bikers ended up achieving a great deal more of what was requested.

Well said! Not too aggressive, but straight shooting enough to getyour point across for a request thats easy and doable.

I know that's a guy on the picture and thread is about female clothing, but I mainly mean the... colour? Ownind a chradder feels incomplete without this.

Quinn_flower I couldnt agree more, great points rasied well done!, ive been wondering if anyone else was feeling this way concerning the female clothing options, theres no nice dresses to choose from and the nail, toenail polish would be a worthy addition too.why can we not purchase the stripper clothing also? The shoes, thigh high boots etc? and why do our online characters feet look like a 90 year womens? why not use the same modelling as the in game female characters that go about with nice painted nails and normal looking feet ! why cant my character where the arm length long black gloves?cause there patched, but why?Why are there no patterned tights apart from 1 ? and hard to believe they havnt added a little black dress? body piercings or long hair ? makes no sense ...hopefully we see more improvements for female design options...i would even pay for a clothing add on or download if one was released containing the things id like added.
