Dear r* (regarding overall female clothing choices)

So I as some of you may know, I'm a stickler for retro stuff. I dont know why.

So tried to make my character fit an 80's mold. Y'know, neon jackets, boots, etc. Flashy everything.. and I almooooooooost had it. It's the damn hair in this game. It's too short :/.... Tbh. I dont care about any form of clipping I'd rather sacrifice neatness for longer hair for my second character. I had her styled up in the yellow biker jacket, the destressed short shorts and flight boots, along with leather arm braclets and hoop earings...

hairstyles-0.jpg

. . . Please rockstar? Come to think of it, everyone video game female has short hair.... Dr. Halsey, Cortana, Ellie... even though some of those fit the mold of the universe, it's an annoying trend that unfortunately seeps into the MMO world too. Too many times has my creative flow been shot because of outfit limitations.

Also, the female form in this game is too many looking..or is it just me. Too tall, to rigid. It'd be nice to adjust the height and stuff..

(Said everyone 50000000000000000000000000000000000000x by now.)

le sigh. Maybe they could do console mods for GTA....? hAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH No.

Another Hipster clothing update would be awesome.

My character would wear the sh*t out of these leggings!

The thing that gets me about the female clothing is that it is so obviously just the male versions slightly modified to 'fit' the female frame. In the base game, this wasn't a problem. There were male and female variants of a clothing type (hoodie, for example). They were made to fit the appropriate gender.

Yeah, most of the suit jackets look awful to say the least. Also, stockings can only be worn Liza Minelli Cabaret or Frakenfurter style. Make your pick, They don't go with skirts as they're supposed to. And don't me get started on the granny panty collection.

Wastelander (Suzuki)

I'd like female versions of all the male clothing, including the open jackets and hoodies.

Me too! I want to wear a loose open hoodie/jacket over a vest top or t-shirt.

Also, the closed "bomber jackets" currently in the game for female characters look really awkward because they're zipped up all the way. Looks way too stiff and unnatural.

Soo right Quinn I've been on hiatus from GTA Online and I come back and still no adequate, satisfying clothing for female characters.... Hell, where's the long hairstyle that we've been asking for? I just want to be able to put my female character in a nice red dress with those "Rouge Pumps" with a long black hairstyle or blonde and also concur with the thigh high boots

lot of nice clothing/hairstyles is already online - but NPC only.

- I'd love to have the haircut of juliet from vanilla unicorn. (reminds me of Britany Murphy)

- we have dresses that look like potato sacks and 1950s dresses in patterns that look like we are under 5 or over 50 years old.

NPC ladies wear cocktail or minidresses, but we cant.

NPC ladies wear plain colors, but we cant.

We dont have dresses. I dont consider Valentine attire dresses. They actually look horrible to play in.

Indeed, they do. Clip as clip can and the appeal of a paper bag.

I'll keep saying this.

We may not be getting anything greater on GTA V, but this is something that needs to be noticed when the time comes and GTA VI Online mode enters in development phase.

First of all, I am not actually a female, but I've spent plenty of time with my girl friends IRL and I've also been talking to some girls that play GTA and even men with female characters and they all have the same struggle.

As of right now, the Character Creator on CG is a HUGE improvement from the one on LG. Seriously, I struggled on both creators, but the reasons of why I was struggling were different. I was struggling on LG because I just couldn't find the best combination that would give my character a pretty face. Yes, even though this is a game about crime, some people prefer to be a cutie instead of a meth head, and that mission was very difficult to accomplish on LG.

Moving forward to CG I was having a hard time because I couldn't find the perfect point on the sliders. I really hate these kind of sliders. I've played too much FIFA and it has the same kind of sliders where you have a cross for example and you're tweaking two aspects of one part at the same time, so you don't want to be too hard on it and you obviously want to have something different from the default one (sometimes), so you have to go easy until you find the sweet spot.

Apart from playing FIFA and GTA, I've also played what most of the people around these forums (used to) call the "GTA cheap-ass copycat" AKA Saints Row.

The character creation on SR absolutely DEMOLISHES the one that's currently available on GTA, not to mention that plastic surgery has been a thing since its first instance. I'll leave some videos under a spoiler tag so I don't take too much space on the page.

SAINTS ROW

SAINTS ROW 2

SAINTS ROW: THE THIRD

SAINTS ROW IV

(Sorry if any of these videos have hideous music or squeaky/annoying voices. These are just to show the endless possibilities of the Saints Row character creator.)

As you can see on any of those videos, you can have so many choices when creating a character. You can change the body shape, change SO MANY THINGS from EVERY PART OF YOUR FACE. Hell, you can even have anime-sized tits! You can also change the voice, but since Saints Row uses the character in the story, it makes sense to have a prerecorded voice to actually interact with in game characters, but you get the point here. I'm not demanding something Sims-like, because, while that'd be godly to have, it'd take too much time to perfect and such and some people just want to go "Ok > Ok > Done, join a f*cking online session, IDGAF about how my character looks", so we'd have to have something more like Saints Row where people who REALLY want to put hours towards creating a perfect character or even a pinturesque character can do that, without having the quick action jumpers sit through a load of screens to actually join a game.

And of course, I'm not saying that character creation in GTA Online is bad (well, at least on CG and PC, sorry LG), I'm just saying it deserves better. I don't know if the engine that Rockstar uses for GTA is able to have such an amazing character customization like Saints Row does, but I'm just making a wish that maybe someday we'll get a re-refined character creator.

Okay now, after the character creator talk, let's talk about the main topic here: CLOTHING

I've been reading this topic since it merely had a few replies and well, I remember back then the female clothing selection was definitely slim. I couldn't have a decent suit as a female since we didn't have access to shirts under jackets until the E&OC update. I swear to god, female clothing has improved ever since... kinda.

See, while it's true that we HAVE received an insane amount of high-quality female clothing, it's also true that most of that has been imported from male characters... and yeah, I'm talking about the racing suits and even some of the clothes from FAFF. Those are straight up boobified versions of the ones that males have, and while it's nice that both genders have access to the same clothes, it may as well be a sign that Rockstar just pulls the old "Oh well, we can just add two little bulges right here in the chest zone and call it a day." and that's something that baffles me.

We need more clothing choices! Not just for females but for both genders. Of course there are way less variety of clothing items for male because we don't usually wear anything but jeans and a t-shirt, at least most dudes I know use that as their go-to outfit.

But when it comes to women, there are lots and lots of clothing choices to be made. Starting with the not-so-infamous skirt over leggings/jeans/any kind of pants. Why is this such a hassle for Rockstar to add such a simple clothing category that consist of two existing categories? I know it may cause some clipping but it's as simple as making it morph a little bit so the skirt is molded around the leggings or any trousers that are under it.

Second on the list is another known clothing choice that most people here have discussed: knee high boots over tight pants. Again, not much of an issue but more of lack of knowledge.

The list could still go on and on, but there are some great posts by the one and only Ms. Quinn and the rest of the people here that could give you an idea of what Rockstar could do to overhaul female clothing in general. The only thing that baffles me is that some of these kinds of clothing are already found on female NPCs.

And also, speaking on NPCs and going back with the character creation topic, we really need proper long haircuts, you know, those ones that fall on your shoulders and go all the way down your back, because I'm tired of the old "curly mid-long hair" and "straight mid-long hair" choices that we're given. As I mentioned, this may cause clipping, but if Rockstar knows how to handle it, I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be a problem, and besides that I wouldn't complain if a few bits of hair are clipping under my clothing because it's a videogame, it's meant to have some issues.

I've got nothing else to say about this. The rest is just a huge kudos to Rockstar for doing such an amazing job at improving their character customization skills over the time and also to the community who's always asking for more and most of the time gets the attention of Rockstar. Also, people who say "this is not The Sims, if you want over-the-top character creation go play it" should be a little bit more tolerant. I'm not too keen on adding more attack helicopters, yet I approve the idea of adding as much as people want into the game because we are making the game. Rockstar just delivers, but we are the ones that, as I said, ask for more and more, so thanks to all the community for doing such an amazing job and also thanks to Mr. Quinn for creating such a huge topic discussing the clothing choices for women. I've got nothing else to say, have a nice day and enjoy the game.

This problem affects both males and females.

Having a gas mask on makes your character either bald or a centimeter away from being bald.

I understand that we're not supposed to wear it on it's own but they haven't bothered patching it, so they must see it as harmless, so why not just make it an actual mask?

I'd love to have my surfer dude haircut with my gas mask, and I'd actually dare to put it on my female character if this was a thing.

I can put up with having my male bald, but it just doesn't work for my female and I really want to use it on my female because that sh*t looks nice.

The lack of basic clothing for females such as bras and underwear should be part of it as some NPCs even strippers wear them also what about the option to go topless for females as if strippers and some NPCs are topless then why not female characters.

I can understand why they didn't allow you to go topless, think of all the extra dialogue they would have to add for Trevor and Lester in cutscenes lol. Seriously though, you're right there.

I'd love a grunge/riot grrrl style theme for my character.

Courtney Love, Debbie Harry, Gwen Stefani, L7 inspo sh*t

It's actually very easy to create that style with the little clothes R* gives us...

You know we can create this....

It's a West Coast L.A. look....just use lowrider pants style.
