Smart Shoes ?!

It's what they call dress shoes. Leather oxfords. Was only three before, but they added a bunch of new ones in this update.

Does rdr2 only use two bodies between all PCs and NPCs? Idk if gta6 goes down the Bethesda route (all NPCs use PC bodies) then the clothing and hair styles could be limitless. Quality could go down but I think it'd be worth it.

No - it's more like GTAO for the most part. All the major/named characters are entirely handcrafted (with a lot of different body types), as are a lot of prominent NPCs like shopkeepers - the only major instance I can find of using the character creator for NPCs is for the randomly-generated Bounty Hunting targets, which use the faces/settings you get when you hit 'randomise' in the creator. There are probably more I haven't noticed, because unlike GTAO, you also have different builds/physiques - although for the male characters at least, that's just borrowed straight from Arthur in single-player.

I know SR2 and the new Saints Row do the 'all regular NPCs are made in the character creator thing', while something like Cyberpunk does it for minor pedestrians (mixed in with bespoke peds that don't use the character creator) - but Cyberpunk also does the RDR2/RDO thing of using items from major story NPCs in the character creator (for instance, you can give V Judy's hairdo and vest top, even though Judy's face is a full-on face scan, not using character creator assets).

I'd be more inclined to assume they carry on down the route of GTA V and RDR2, where major characters are bespoke (and with more and more of the story characters using the likenesses of their actors - or at least some kind of reference for the likeness), and only the most generic enemies or background peds using Online character creator assets. I think the difference between Rockstar, and the likes of Volition, BioWare, Bethesda, etc., is that Rockstar still uses specific likenesses for their protagonists, rather than a character creator for single-player - so you get some customisation (hair, clothes, etc.), but not pulling facial features around. And then some of that trickles down to Online characters - which is why the news of a female protagonist in VI is such a big deal, because it means Arthur Morgan-level asset quality (if not better) getting reused for not just male Online characters, but female ones as well this time.

I wonder if Rockstar is aware that females in heels are overlooked when drinking, changing the radio or making a phone call in the casino Penthouse. The heels sink into the floor until she's finished like someone forgot to do the heel animations. It's why when playing with my female character, I end up wearing sneakers more often just to avoid looking at that. But with some outfits, gotta wear heels.

^ I noticed around Arena Wars and in cutscenes since, they started to frame them so that ankles and below are cut out of shot, hiding the wicked witch of the west feet.

In other news, someone seems to have got a lil too bit excited over the new leather pants and boots...

Had a first look at them today: the new mini dress is the standout, but I'm also really rather impressed with the new bracelets. They're really small and fine, and so look like they fit better than some of the older, more oversized wrist accessories. Plus, there are options for both wrists, and you can pair them with watches and the like, too - overall, they're just a step up from past accessories, which is good.

The hairdos are ...ehh, I tried the new bob, but only really works if your character has a longer/leaner face. My character has a more round face, and so the hairline looks like it's a bit lopsided, and goes quite far back on one side. Nice to have new styles, obviously, but that one's not a game-changer, personally.

And overall, the big limitation I've noticed is that a lot of items are largely one block colour, or one low-res print - it's still not on Saints Row's level, where you get things like sequin textures, metal details on buckles/zips/poppers, different fabric textures, etc. Again, that's just the age of GTAO shining through at this point - RDO already demonstrates that Rockstar is able to do so much more with a more modern game, so that sort of thing just goes on the 'wait and see with GTA VI' pile... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I love how they work with jeans and most pants too, but not stockings for some reason?

That’s been a thing for years now. They just never bothered to correct it.

Mini dress with stockings looks like you pooped yourself in a mirror...

Also, why can't I wear a jacket with the mini dress?

Hello chocolate trousers.

I like the new dresses, but can't wear a jacket with the mini, idk if it will be a thing later or not. This clothing menu needs a rework and Stockings should be in assessories, not pants lol

On the one hand, dresses + jackets absolutely should and can be a thing. If they're on the same layer as t-shirts or tank tops, then there's nothing that can clip through something like the original leather jackets - the only reason why they wouldn't be able to do that is if someone at Rockstar had the genius idea of putting the new dresses on the same layer as jackets, which ...why, though? 😩

As for stockings, that's a more just the limitation of having no 'socks' layer, compared to the likes of SR2/2022, or FH5 - right now, GTAO handles them the same as pants, because they're effectively 'leg swaps', and you're swapping the entire lower half of your character (like a Lego figure). Not really much they can do about that for this game - GTA VI really needs to have socks/stockings as a separate layer, particularly when a smaller studio with fewer people and less money (Volition) managed it back in 2008...

The new bowling shirts we have are the same one trevor can wear in storymode. I just wish we had the same cool patterns he has, the selections and colors we got kinda sucks
