Dear r* (regarding overall female clothing choices)

Seriously, who the hell makes these clothes? "Hundreds of new clothing items" as they say, yet not a single one of them that I actually felt like buying, they're all so horrible.

The fact that they're all just reskins of exsisting clothing models is one thing, but most of them are so big and baggy. They could've at least reskinned shirts and jackets that actually look good on the female characters. We have like 200 reskins of the same goddamn jacket and they all look the same - some stupid color with random pattern of shapes.

Could they at R* get ONE guy or girl who actually knows how to make proper nice looking clothes? Ones that actually fit the character model and look nice on them? Not ones that make the character look twice as big as they are, because they don't even fit, just hower around them...

Because currently this is just a waste of "effort" and hard drive space to include stupid recolors of the same jackets and shirts that looked ugly anyway. I know there usually are not many women among programmers and game developers, but please, look out the window or something and look at some girls. Maybe then you will see how women clothing looks like.

Rockstar is actually listening to our feedbacks, our complaints and implementing changes. Because of that I still think the next iteration of GTA Online early 2021 will have what everyone here wants as they are upgrading and improving the game.

The customization most likely will be better and there will be more focus on what female gamers want.

About 7 to 8 months to go.

After this many years, do you really think they're going to do things like remodel every duff-looking item of clothing to not look like ass? Or is it more likely that even with the next-gen re-release, you'll still have stuff with terrible texture quality, stuff that clearly doesn't fit the female character model (because it was designed for male characters first), etc., let alone them adding the things people have been asking for but still haven't been added (after half a decade) - ?

And even if everything gets a texture upgrade, it's not like they couldn't have done things better for years already - again, there's stuff from 2014-2015 (like some of the I'm Not A Hipster items, for instance) where the item variety, texture resolution and sculpt quality put things from 2016-2020 to shame. If the only way to get the majority of customisation items to look as good as stuff originally available on Xbox 360/PS3 is to fork out for a new console, and then buy the game for a third time, then ...yeah, no - f*** off with that. :rol:

I'm more confused about the "hundreds of new clothing items". I swear I only counted like, 10.

Make 10 new items for male characters, make dozens of low-res colour/pattern variations of them (and some older items), hastily sorta-not-quite fit them around the female character model to technically double the total number, et voila - "200 new items"!

I don't see anyone talking about the new hoodies found in the Sports Tops section, or were they released earlier this year? I haven't played since February.

Cutscenes, vehicle sections (specifically bikes), various inventory menus (which let you rotate your character - bit like how things like AC Odyssey do it), mirrors/reflections, and photo mode (!!), too.

But yeah, everything from hair physics and the creator options (from what they've shown, the character presets look as good as some games' handcrafted characters) to some of the clothing options (please say we can get clear vinyl jackets and stuff, and not just NPCs!) - it all looks really promising where character customisation/personalisation is concerned.

The game is with sex and all, there are already totally slutty clothed male and female npc's, i guess everybody saw that quest where you rescue that naked chick from the bathtub. There will be very very slutty clothing for our chars, just how it should be for a adult game.

All of this and bodymods, damn it will be awesome.

Game is not made by prude americans after all, it's polish. :D

I love how basically all the ladies’ bottoms are still 2011-vintage low rise waist. As if that’s still fashionable

Honestly, the "prudish American/Western devs" thing is a myth - Ubisoft San Francisco were perfectly fine letting you take selfies with nudists in Watch Dogs 2, for example. And with Cyberpunk, a lot of the raunchier stuff comes straight from Mike Pondsmith's own pen-and-paper RPGs, so it's simply a case of being true to the source material - if R* had been the ones to handle Cyberpunk 2077, I don't think they'd tone things down, either.

Really, the only place where that's an issue is Japan - stricter laws mean that things like the strip club in GTA V doesn't allow nudity, and Cyberpunk has had to be tweaked in similar ways (no nudity in character creation, probably - and sex scenes will no doubt be just fully-clothed dry-humping in the Japanese version... :p).

But in any case, I hope there's ample variety of clothing in Cyberpunk - endless jackets, jeans and boots combos might get old after a while. Corpo V starts off in a futuristic suit, so it'd be cool to have things like high fashion - particularly if there are quests that take you to some of the fancier parts of Night City (shades of that one DLC quest in Mass Effect 2). Depends on how rigid they are about locking everything to different item slots (head, upper body, lower body, etc.) - although Monster Hunter uses a similar approach, and still has single-piece outfits that can't be mixed and matched (and just automatically fill all five armour slots with the one thing), so it's not impossible.

After 7 years, that's quite an achievement. However, I'm glad for the people who were for some reasons unable to play the V in these 7 years to be able to play with more customization. Maybe in 10 year anniversary re-release there will be custom sessions, who knows. Seriously speaking, only a new map will bring me back to the game. Otherwise, done.

I'm still dreaming for other colors of the Independence Day tuxedo.

I'd love to design some Playboy Bunny or magician outfits.

I took one of the Independence Day outfits and replaced the skirt with a red bikini bottom. And my female looks like a dancing girl; Rockett maybe. That in different colors would make a good outfit.

Been noticing new females in bikinis that are layered onto the body. They have a upgraded body and face. And look really hot. The layered top and bottom are really obvious.

It's all about that tacticool, baby. If you don't have white hair and a re-breather you might as well not exist.

OT: I actually like the new clothes. I mean, they're new, that's better than what we got last year. I finally. It took years but we finally have regular looking shirts

Those office shirts and the new hooded sports tops are definitely a step up - they're still clearly just the same asset shared for both male and female characters, but they've at least done a decent job of making them fit female characters (no floating necklines, or just looking ridiculously oversized).

And the sculpt quality looks better, too (although some of the colour/pattern variants still have low-res textures... :sigh:), with sharper edges around the collars/cuffs. I wonder if we're starting to see asset quality improvements trickle down from RDR2 (or GTA VI at this point, even) - I doubt we're going to see a massive overhaul of GTAV/O, even with the next-gen re-release, but I imagine that if they're working on higher-quality stuff as standard for their newer games, new GTAO assets might well be made to those standards as well, rather than having one team still creating things to 2015 standards.

(case in point: we first saw an obvious example of this with the double-action revolver, which is literally an RDR2-quality model added to GTAO, and a noticeable step up from something like the GTAO heavy revolver)

Before getting to what my female second character wears, can we stop her from running like a duck that's sh*t itself?

I think the root cause is their development team, and it’s the problem that people tend to avoid talking about...you know it 🙄

I do think the Diamond casino dresses look somewhat adequate. But they could be better.

This is from the movie Beverley Hills Cop 2 opening scene. I think her outfit looks excellent. R* should up their game...:

Failing that, you could just hit "print screen", and paste it into something like MS Paint page by page (not that anyone actually does that anymore...).

But to clarify: Kotaku isn't closing, so the article isn't going anywhere - Kotaku UK is closing down, which is actually owned by a different company, and just shares the same branding and reposts stuff from the main US-based site. Kotaku (US) is owned by G/O Media (who are trash, and have killed off a bunch of their outlets recently), while Kotaku UK was under Future Publishing (who ...are trash, and are in the process of killing off a bunch of their outlets).

Spoiler

For example, Future Publishing also owns PC Gamer - and while the actual writers at PC gamer do some really good stuff (Andy Kelly is always worth a read), Future manages to undermine the reputation of the site by publishing PR puff pieces masquerading as actual coverage. The only way you'll know is by checking the byline, and seeing if the article is written by someone called "Sponsored"... :p

Pretty much the same as how games publishers work, really: buy up a team/company with an established reputation, milk it shamelessly for a quick buck (all while degrading its quality), and then kill it when you decide it's not worth the investment anymore... :turn:

Man i just realized even if the theme of updates usually is rich people stuff thats not really a reason for the clothing choices to be so lame...have you SEEN the kind of stuff they have on designer clothing websites? visually, it all looks really cool despite costing an arm and a leg apiece! and you'd think a lot of this stuff fits in the vein of the luxury updates but the truth is: you dont really see anything this cool ingame

I've said it before, I'll say it again:

Swimsuits...lots of swimsuits.

One pieces and two pieces along with accessories.

From full coverage to the downright obscenely tiny.

Along with the ability to do beach and water activities.

For example; sit on a lounge chair or lay on a beach towel while sipping a adult beverage, listening to music while on my yacht, poolside, or anywhere on the beach.

I've made my millions. It's vacation time.

The limbo of clothing choices in this game is so ridiculous because it ends up being nothing.

For one, R*ckstar won't ever do anything that causes clipping issues, their obsession with that is stupid, so any long clothes with possible cloth physics will be discarded. Then you have the movement: for some reason they think that every piece of clothing has to be designed with all mobility in mind, so whatever clothes they add have to be compatible with climbing, jumping, shooting, rolling, driving and so on. If you've used clothing mods on PC you'll see how many come with natural clipping issues if you do any of the former, but that's fine, because those clothes aren't supposed to be combat outfits. Designer fashion isn't supposed to be something you wear in the middle of a gunfight, so instead of having both clothes that are fit for action and clothes that are fit for regular movement we end with a limited overlap.

The end result is that all fashion in this game is tacky and our characters look like a wrong idea of how rich people look. It's also too juvenile in many cases, the street clothes don't look rough enough and the fancy clothes don't look fancy enough. It's not surprising just how many realize this early on and just go for over the top flashy styles, you can't really blame people when the game has all the tryhard youtuber looks for you.

Also, R*ckstar only ever accounted for 15 types of tops. Imagine working around that limit without making bulky unisex clothes

One of the worst design decisions in Online is the lack of a colour dye feature. It not only cripples the selection of clothing available in the game but also clogs up the user interface. How hard can it be to program a hue slider or selectable colours? It saves the user time by narrowing the clothing menu while also giving them much more freedom in the colour department. If it's possible for cars and helicopters why not a hoodie or vest?

I mean, Saints Row 2 had this feature 5 years prior to the release of V.

Edit: This has already been suggested here. I guess great minds really do think alike.
