I think the game being released for the new consoles is a big deal. Everyone needs to forget about GTA 6!!! Stop saying that! Stop listening to YouTubers, because as far as I'm concerned, Rockstar hasn't confirmed it, so it doesn't exist!!! They invited that one retard to a live stream and he said he stole a copy of GTA 6 from the company and that's where all those rumors started!!

I think GTA Online will be the thing - with what we have been playing on for the last 7 years being the first part. It will be resigned for the new consoles, meaning character models will change along with a lot of other aspects as we know them. I think Rockstar is getting ready to change the online gaming industry again. Be patient and see what happens!

That seems like a fair opinion.

But if they were to remaster Online, don't you think we would've heard from them about it by now....?

I'm a little skeptical, and for good reason.

Why wouldn't they remaster Online as well? That's where all the money is.

And on top of that, the clothing limitations and underwhelming new additions in RDO aren't a good sign, either - in a game with better clothing physics, and supposedly a greater emphasis on period-authenticity and role-playing, R* has already fallen into the trap of things like crappy palette-swaps of the same old same-old.

...okay, so I take some of that back: new RDO update just added things like hair clips and accessories, as well as some actual period-authentic stuff (as well as the usual daft multicolour stuff, because R* gonna R*... :sigh:), and an entire category for dresses - plus adjustments to the layering options, probably as a result of them making the necessary changes to allow for dresses.

So I'm maybe a bit more optimistic that they might consider doing things differently with the next iteration of GTAO - and hey, with all the changes at the top of the company, it might be a situation like the recent developments at Ubisoft, where specific individuals in positions of power were the people shooting certain ideas, regardless of what either the devs or the players wanted. We'll see, I guess - but eh, maybe sending feedback might mean that GTA VI's version of Online starts off in a better place.

Still not convinced that they'll make any changes to next-gen current GTAO, though - depends on how substantive the changes are to the next-gen version. I've seen rumours of 64-player sessions, but if it's more just bringing the game closer to the current PC version, then I don't see them drastically overhauling things like character models/hairstyles/etc.

I want a swimsuit store. with a huge range of bikinis and one pieces. Ranging from one piece Olympic swimmer style suits all the way down to a micro slingshot. Which is basically three triangles and some string.

And lots of accessories.

I'm more interested in whether or not they bother upping texture resolution for the PS5/XSX version - it bugs me so much that they cleaned up clothing assets from 2013 for the current-gen version, only for the standard of stuff from Lowriders onward to look worse than the current-gen upgrades of clothing from launch.

Must admit, I've got zero expectations about the new update, so anything's a bonus - don't think I bothered with any of the Casino Heist clothes. In an ideal world, we'd finally get some new, worthwhile hairdos, but R* barely adds those to RDO, let alone GTAO these days - a reminder that we've not had a new hairstyle in over three years (Gunrunning, June 2017).

Probably everything they add. Best case scenario is one article will look good because it was the first one made but the rest will be generically retextured variants.

I really don't think porting the game to ps5 will fix the game's issues because GTA V at it's core is still a 7th generation console game. It's RAGE version is older than RDR2's so stuff like cloth and hair physics are still impossible in an online session (judging by the fact that both games are on the same console at the moment but one has physics and the other doesn't).
The only thing the ps5 port will most likely do is upscale the game 4k but still keep it to 30fps. Maybe even improve the loadings a bit since Sony keeps flaunting their SSD speeds even though most are client-server related. Reworking the game to actually look and feel like a ps5 game would cost several years and several millions on the side of uncomfortable, time and resources they would put in their next game.

We're supposed to get an update this Tuesday and an announcement later today so I'm looking forward to see the theme. Some of the LeAkS from few months ago mentioned it'll revolve around the Mile High Club but it's still a bit hard to believe.

This is gonna be a stupid question but it's been so long since I played the game!

Was there a Mint hoodie top for female characters in GTA Online or am I remembering something from fantasy land in my head?

Looks like, based on newswire art, there are new ways to wear pre-existing clothing (unbuttoned shirts that previously were not wearable like that). Combine that with RDO's improved pairing and layering this last update, maybe we can expect the same in gta? Knee-high boots with pants? Scarves and necklaces with certain shirts? Jacket layering options? I feel hope for this sort of thing for the first time in quite a long while.

Specifically, R* invested in a third-party hair physics system for RDR2 (probably because things that came out shortly after GTA V started doing that, and R* doesn't want to get beaten by the competition...) - the reboot Tomb Raider games use TressFX, The Witcher III (and presumably Cyberpunk 2077) uses NVIDIA HairWorks, and so RDR2 uses Ornatrix (which allows for hair/beard growth, same as HairWorks does in TW3).

...none of which is in GTA V/Online - and like with everything else in V/O, R* can only work around those 2013 limitations so much. Bit like how Saints Row the Third Remastered has swapped out building/car models, even reworked major NPCs to look more detailed, drastically improved the lighting, etc. - but it's still mechanically a 2011 game, and we're going to have to wait until Saints Row 5 (hopefully next year!) to see an actual improvement/upgrade of the fundamentals.

As for this update, it feels like a prime opportunity for some fun summer outfits - so I fully expect R* to deliver on that front, just like how we got all kinds of cool club wear with After Hours. :p

Well, Benny's is back (with a Daytona/Superbird upgrade to the Gauntlet Classic - !!), plus new yacht-based missions that can be done solo (!!), so it's almost like a nostalgic throwback to late 2015...

...of course, late 2015 was (IMO) the beginning of the end for GTAO fashion - maybe if they could just wind the clock back a few months to Ill-Gotten Gains, then we'd be in business. I'm not getting my hopes up... :sigh:

I know this is an old thread but I can't see female criminals wearing these in real life. As you said they're designed to look cute and all that and when you're someone whose job mandates scaring the crap out of anyone you meet to the best of your abilities, looking cute is probably the last thing you want. And what's more they wouldn't be the most comfortable things to have a fight or shootout in. Wearing crop tops or short pants leaves large areas of your body vulnerable to attacks from potential opponents, would make it difficult to control the bleeding if you got shot due to the lack of fabric and wouldn't be all that easy to swiftly move around or chase someone in (lookimg at dresses and high heels).

I know your feedback is centred more around fashion and not immersion or realism but that's just my two cents. Of course since I'm not a woman and thus have never worn feminine clothing everything I just said could be a bunch of nonsense so don't take it too seriously.

Not sure which line of rebuttal to take:

1. "Criminals wouldn't wear fashionable outfits, because it's impractical" - by that reasoning, R* shouldn't add supercars, and we should have had a 2010 Chevy Impala ages ago (I'd actually like that, myself!).

2. "Criminals wouldn't wear fashionable outfits" - not during a job, obviously! But you've got to spend your 'earnings' on something, after all - so again, blow it on a Ferrari, but then you're going to need something more than jeans and a t-shirt or full body armour when you're driving the new motor...

3. At this point, we already have the option to lounge around penthouses in smoking jackets, or sit in the hot tub on a luxury yacht - or run our own legit nightclub, even. And yet the kinds of stuff that the NPC patrons wear in clubs (or at the casino, or even just out and about) are much better than the options available to players, even after seven years of updates.

4. I mean, once KITT and rocket bikes got added to the game (or stupid alien costumes, or luminous bodysuits that offer no protection during a bank robbery...), realism and practicality kinda went out the window...

5. Even if we go for a more 'Hollywood' spin on violent crime, are you really saying it's a step too far to get into shootouts and the like dressed like this?

This new DLC centers around the yacht.

We need lots of designer swimwear and accessories. And cruising clothing. And sexy party clothing that doesn't look like 1990's prom dresses.

And I want to recline or lay on my lounge chair and sip a glass of champagne. As I cruise with my friends and party guests up the coast.

I meant 'turning back the clocks in terms of clothing asset quality' - not sure what happened after Ill-Gotten Gains, but good grief, the textures are a mess nearly all of the time...

As for Warzone: Los Santos, I'd argue the first mistake was leaving the Rhino, Buzzard and Lazer in Online Freemode, although in those days R* did nerf the Rhino after players got sick* of people rampaging in tanks. But the tipping point was Heists, IMO - letting people by a faster, more accessible alternative to the Lazer, and bulletproof cars/blast-proof LAPVs, started what ended up becoming something like an arms race with only one side (or maybe 'inflation of the Freemode war economy', to put it another way). R* put in OP war machines to make Heists feel like some kind of standout event compared to previous updates, that became the new 'normal', and they've had to periodically out-do those vehicles (hence stuff like the Ruiner 2000, Oppressors, Deluxo, etc.) to meet a demand for evermore extravagant griefing tools, that ...they created in the first place.

*imagine that: people complaining that there should be less random griefing and 'splosions in Freemode - and R* doing something about it! :wtf:  I tells ya, October 2013 was a different time...

That's actually interesting, I didn't know that. GTA V's singleplayer had nice cloth physics, especially Michael's suit and open shirt that are just Max Payne 3 assets but if I'm not mistaken, Tracy's ponytail also has some wavy-ish physics to it. Could have been emulating the cloth to look like that or something.

So yeah, even if GTA V/O lives until like playstation 6 or something, it's still a ps3/xbox 360 at it's core and bloating it with new content

As for the update announcement, I'm not entirely on board with it. Compared to a summer update in the last 3 years (Finance and Felony, Gunrunning, After Hours, Diamond Casino), it doesn't seem like it has a certain theme. It just promises more stuff to do and more things to buy. Promises something for everybody but I kinda doubt it'll deliver on the  c l o t h e s  department because none of the newswire screenshots showed any new clothing.

I think the difference is that GTA V has clothing and hair 'physics' - as in, they move, but either as a canned animation (like jackets billowing behind single-player characters on bikes), or a really bare-miniumum physics simulation (like how IIRC, Tracy's ponytail is just on a ball joint - that's how it is in Metal Gear Solid V, too). See also: how hair flaps around in Saints Row 3/4, but long hair is like one big flappy hinged piece that moves like a beaver tail.

Meanwhile, stuff like TressFX/Ornatrix is notable because you get proper physics simulation on a per strand basis - and because that's much better for contorting around objects regardless of shape, it allows for proper beards on custom characters in RDO (unlike GTA, where single-player characters have sculpted beards that fit their faces, while Online characters have to settle for the Groucho Marx look... :p).

For the next-gen re-release, I wonder if R* could actually rework things like ponytails to have that same kind of basic 'socket' animation, like for Tracy - as for clothes, I think that's too late, because there are so many items that'd need reworking, and they don't currently have that effect built in. Because once again, PS3/360 hardware constraints underpinning the whole thing. :sigh:

This next update? Feels more like a Spring update, similar to Southern San Andreas Super Sport Series, where it's just a dozen or so vehicles (some of which are variants of existing vehicles), and some basic new game modes (I don't expect the new Yacht missions to have cutscenes - they're going to be more like the Last Play ones). The RDO update was just one role, but it still added full cutscenes with voice work/mocap, and a bunch of detailed props and whatnot - so I'd guess that if the pandemic hadn't happened, and R* put things out at their usual pace, this GTAO update would have been the typical Spring 'filler' thing, Naturalist stuff in RDO would have been the Summer update (hence why the files also have the Halloween drip-feed items), and ...probably both getting bigger things at the end of the year, with RDO perhaps going first, before the "biggest ever" heist thing for GTAO.
