I dunoooo. I want to come back...but I'm just not sure anymore. Maybe I'll check out the missions and the clothes and the cars. 

 

I've been gone since August. Has anything changed significantly since then? Almost a year.

This is the only screenshot giving me any hope for some decent new clothing. Everything else looks to just be reskins. Yet again the npc's have the cool clothes that are always unobtainable for our characters.

Scroll to the bottom. Second last picture, black woman with ponytail and turquoise/beige skirt. Obviously an online character, as evidenced by her body type and hair.

Seems like Jusa beat me to it though haha

 

EDIT: They seem quite ugly actually, now that I've had a better look at them.. There is apparently an exclusive clothing store inside the casino, so hopefully that means they've added quite a bunch of new (not just reskins) stuff.

Awesome. Those are player characters so it looks like we're finally getting some normal dresses. I hadn't visited this sight so I hadn't seen these pics.

The second picture was actually posted by JR_Death in the grand opening thread  Those early 2000s prom dresses ain't cute indeed. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what else we'll get

The fact that those are player models means nothing. R* has been using player models as NPCs for years.

 

There's a 90% chance we're still getting no new clothes, and just more reskins..

I agree, they're pretty ugly. Still, any new dresses are an improvement. There needs to be some form fitting ones though. Also, it all depends on what they do about foot ware. We need more heels, preferably heeled boots. What we do not need are more sneakers, which I've already noticed in some of the pictures. Lol!

They have same model as the online characters, same hair, clothes (besides the new dresses) and the same animations that our online characters can perform (dance and drink beer). Since they're adding an exclusive clothing store you'd think that they'd at least add some decent new clothing. Have they really used the online models that much? I do know that they're in the nightclubs as dancers, but I'm guessing that was just so they could reuse the dancing animations? I don't have that high hopes myself, but I do believe that we will at least get something.

Haha I didn't even bother pointing those out, because who honestly cares. I think I also saw a new sunhat, but I wouldn't know as I stopped wearing any hats after they made them look like mushrooms. The fact that they still struggle to make things form fitting even when the clothing is made exclusively for the female model is just sad. I want some new heels too! If they add a bunch of recolored clothing then I hope they'll at least give us some recolors of those heeled studded boots from ill gotten gains

Yuuuuuuuuup. 

 

I fully expect this to be After Hours 2.0: new NPCs with cool stuff we can't have, NPCs that are basically just player character models, all with fancy new cosmetics that aren't available to players, and the usual assortment of low-res prints, reskins, and novelty outfits that don't even fit female character models properly.

 

Same as how the cars are going to be a random assortment of wanky concept cars that got sculpted in SketchUp in an afternoon - and that's before we consider what fresh hell R* will introduce in terms of sci-fi gimmick nonsense.

 

 

Maybe I'm just a hardened cynic at this point, but all the above has been pretty consistent since at least Import/Export (certainly since Gunrunning). I'm genuinely more interested/optimistic about the RDO update, personally - that, and all the cool new cosmetic/personalisation stuff coming to Monster Hunter with Iceborne, better cars in Forza Horizon, etc., mean that I'm getting what I used to get out of GTAO from other, better games at this point. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nope, you're not. That's happening because R* still believes that they're the only game in town, which is only half true: there's nothing like GTA as a whole, but there are other games and most of them doing some of the stuff GTA does much better. And bad R* decisions such as handling flags and idiotic clothing are not really helping the situation. For the feel of the new map I went to Mafia III and casually progressing through all the DLCs, for the cars I'm enjoying Forza and for the handling I'm playing Dirt Rally 2. Got the key for the Hitman 2 for free last week, but haven't played the thing yet plus I'm actively testing AC Competizione. GTA Monopoly for me is long over and after trying to get back today it was painful to wait the cooldown just to fix my appearance after doing male-female gender glitch. I now have a female character for a change, but very little wish to play and I'm absolutely positive that I won't touch the game before Tuesday. After Tuesday it will probably migrate to HDD. At least the working online copy, because I can still tolerate SP with Redux mod from time to time.

 

Plus, gaming as a whole is getting boring these days for me: there are interesting movies, German to learn and French to improve.

Some actual dresses that are post 1950's would be nice, some stockings or pantyhoses would be nice, with skirts.

 

Leather fingerless gloves, and some goddamn calf/knee high boots with wedge or block heels.

 

Not sure we'll be getting any of that, ever. But I'm dearly hoping this update proves me wrong.

Good start on the cars, at least - they did a classic Challenger, and ...it's actually really good! 

 

In fact, the car selection is a welcome change - a mix of classics and high-end stuff, more like we got in the Business/High Life updates (and thus appropriate for an update like this!). Only one weaponised thing, and it's an armoured version of the Paragon (Bentley Continental thing) with optional guns, which isn't too bad.

 

In other words, it's not a repeat of After Hours - let's just hope that this surprising lurch into the realm of logic and rationality also extends to the clothing selection, eh?

 

(...that's clearly hoping for too much, isn't it?)

Yeah, I share your concerns, mate. Still, though, good reskins (of dresses, for exmaple) would be way better than new oversized jackets.

I just hope for ability to set different hairstyles for different outfits. Nail polish mentioned multiple times by multiple users before me would also be fantastic. It's little things like these that would make a big difference to me.
