It's 2016 and you have yet add knee high boots with real black leggings not that crap u gave us. Went to log on today and saw my knee high outfit was patched.....smh. Like seriously maybe now based

Uh-oh! I had a feeling you'd be on the warpath very quickly!   All valid points, I think the problem now is they made the game clothes be shared between males/females so they could have similar item

This thread is about disappointing choice of clothing and customization in an open world sandbox game with both PvP and PvE activities, where you can create your own character. Maybe everyone should c

I've seen awesome top combos like that from friends on PS4. they mixed cropped tops with long sleeved shirts or some kinda top for example. goes together nicely.

they merged components and folks, please do that method and learn it now male or female.

(might be slightly hard at first, easy after that) before they patch and ruin and make it 75 more steps harder to do.

I have 20 saved. will quit this game if they're deleted because of whatever made up reason with this new update. :)

Love those mods, @-CREATIONS- ! There's such a huge gulf between what's 'officially' on offer and what the fanbase has come up with.

I bought GTAV for PC in November with the intention of making some mods but I've not had any time since then to even fire up the game - is there a resource site or specific mod tools you recommend? I can make 3D models already but just wondered how you can get them in and out of the engine/game.

This thread made the BBC website, with shoutouts to Quinn_flower and Coleco!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-48794418

Oh, cool - and yeah, it'll probably achieve jack-squat for GTAO, but a good read all the same. :)

Congrats, Quinn and Coleco - also cool to see Ellen Rose from Outside Xtra quoted in there, too, because she's consistently awesome.

And I'm glad to see any decent discussion of this subject in more mainstream spaces (than just a fan-forum thread), because ...the more I think about it, it's not just 'fashion'.

For example, I just posted something in another thread about how cosmetic decorations (specifically, flags on vehicles/parachute bags) can go so far as to suggest who your character is as a person - I could take two identical GTAO characters, slap the French flag on a yacht/monster truck for one of them, and that'd effectively say 'this character is French', just by using visual flair. And without said flair, you'd be hard pushed to define your character like that, beyond just saying 'I'm going to say my character is from _____' in your head - and if it's only in your head, and not actually something that can be achieved/perceived within the allowable options of the game itself, then that thing doesn't exist, as far as the game is concerned.

Limit those kinds of options, and you're not just limiting player's ability to play 'dress-up' (once more, with feeling: :rol:), but the possibilities for expression and 'presence' in the game in general - particularly in a game where you're not playing as some strictly-defined-by-the-creators character. I get why Arthur Morgan has to be a typical Western archetype, but it's nice to have the options in RDO that I can make a character who isn't, for those players who want to get creative with the possibilities of the broader setting. Now, try playing as a fashionista type in GTAO - you're going to have trouble, for obvious reasons.

Declined to comment.... Unfortunate.

Congrats Quinn, basically everyone on this thread, that basically puts two news reports (that I know of) under our belts.

Unfortunately this doesn't change much...well, that's debatable.

In a open world online game, your identity should be first and foremost. This game unfortunately fails to do that. There literally is no other game within this genre to compare, which "prolongs" the problem.

You guys probably have a wider array of games that you play, is this a problem elsewhere.

Fallout 76 for example... ehhhhhhh yeaaah, there are choices, but there still could be more.

Cyberpunk looks decent on that front. If you ask me, there needs to be more online open worlds.

Hopefully this spread around their offices, and it drives more changes in the future.

It doesn't exactly..."fail" in a general sense. It fails in which it's easier to dress as a try hard than a regular NPC you see on the street right beside you.

@xDatxJunkyx Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 looks pretty good in that regard, too. And unlike Cyberpunk, you're playing as a completely player-defined character, rather than a named protagonist, with no voice actor (so you've got more freedom over dialogue choices) and a more realistic modern-day setting, too.

However, there still really isn't anything quite like GTAO, other than ...RDO - other online games (MMOs, survival games - and things that are a bit like either of those, such as Fallout 76). Cyberpunk is an offline single-player RPG, as is Bloodlines - there aren't really any non-R* games where you (and other people) can just 'live' in a realistic setting, and where the mechanics are almost 1:1 to the way things work in the real world (no 'put on this outfit and gain +3 fire defense' or whatnot).

I'm somewhat encouraged by the role-specific stuff coming to RDO, and how that sounds like it'll help open up even more possibilities for letting players define their own experience of the game, and their presence within it - but it's a bit of a shame to think that something as well-established as GTAO, with more accessible, modern-day setting, still won't likely do that until at least GTA VI. And that's assuming that R* even deems it a priority for the next incarnation of GTAO, or whether player freedom/expression is going to be right down the bottom of the list, compared to things like "moar ridiculous wackymobiles with All The Guns™"... :turn:

As long as for GTA6 (GTAO2) R* actually take note of this thread and get it all sorted on DAY ONE.

Who am I kidding, it's R*

We'll be asking for bare bones features for 3-5 years for the next GTA game.

Oh new profile pic, your last one was Helena from RE6 right? I knew I recognised it.

Anyways yeah, R* will probably just continue to ignore us, I just want some nail polish and calf/knee/thigh high boots with block/wedge heels dammit. Some modern dresses would be nice (or anything post 1940's really)

And I still can't believe they haven't added fingerless leather gloves, they'd fit into almost any update, they're gender neutral, and so many people would wear them.

I do not have high hopes for this casino update considering how god awful the clothing was from the NIGHTCLUB update, but I'm still slightly excited.

Congrats, @Quinn_flower! おめでとう ☺

Hopefully the new clothing from the casino update will be decent for a change and actually match, but eh, I'm not getting my hopes up! I'm assuming that we may get a few more formal options, but let's just hope the skirts and dresses aren't designed to be worn by 70+ year old women from the 1950s. 😝

So I made the news and didn't even know... awesome. I knew running my mouth online would have consequences one day

Happily it's for my views on virtual clothing and not what I think about current affairs

In all seriousness though, it's good to have even minor coverage of this sort of thing even when there's no official response. Keep treating your potentially paying communities like that and see how far it gets ya - I've already spent more on the Shantae games than GTA and RDO combined this year.

Keep fighting to be fabulous everyone

This thread reminds me of when the game was a little less old, and the idea of big things happening wasn't always just put down with "well it is 6 years old now". It's a shame they didn't really come through for people here. This update coming up would be too late anyway, though it'd be something I guess.

Anyway I am just a helicopter and not exactly that fashion-savvy, just skimmed through and wanted to say congratulations to @Quinn_flower and @Coleco on the news article.

I hope they add more natural styles the next update and add styles with actual edges/babyhairs. Some of the current styles can/should be updated.

Ex:

Current wavy bob

New wavy bob

Current long bob

Current 'twisted afro'

New twisted afro

Current cornrows *Yes I know this is a man, but I couldn't a pic with a female character and cba to take one myself*

New cornrows

And hey have braids that are already shoulder length so I can't see why they couldn't update them to atleast be longer with edges.

Its nice to see that this thread has got some sort of attention by a news company. The downside is that R* basically ignored it. It would be nice to have the stuff we've been wanting in the game since day one, but its a little too late for them to finally start adding the stuff we so desire.

Think of it like this. Rome wasn't built in a day. We just laid the seed for the next game. Look at red dead their system to make avatars is much better than gta's.

We didn't lose in fact we won. Some stuff were added we requested and some didn't who knows it could change or added in gta 6 if there will be since the world is so pc now. Being featured in two major news outlets is no easy feat.

I'm grateful that the community came together and made this originally a b and m to something wonderful that others still look at to this day and be inspired. 3+ years and we are still here says a lot for those who say go play the Sims now.... Where are those people now?

I bet any clothing that was in the trailer will only be for NPCs. Even the ones that have the exact same character model as the players, yet we still can't wear their clothes.

We'll just get more recolours.
