Okay, quick impromptu poll for tomorrow - do we reckon we'll be getting:

- a bunch of s****y low-res reskins of the same old camo stuff as last year

- nothing at all

:sui:

(I really shouldn't be quite so cynical - but after two-and-a-half years of this, cynicism and realism have just sort of blurred together... :turn:)

I don't mind more catsuit, as long as they look cool. Edited by Retroview1955

Speculating more race suits will come along, maybe even plain non-sponsored ones including motorcycle outfits.

I should probably post a picture. Of a better looking catsuit. Why can't we have long boots like this anyways?

as long as we can wear the suits/outfit's shoes or pants only without struggling through 74 glitches. one can dream.

...feeling pretty glad I didn't buy L.A. Noire, now (and I really, really want to get the remaster - at this rate, I'll be waiting until Games with Gold gets it as a freebie...), and between the implicit sexism (think about it!), the disregard for players who enjoy creative gameplay, and the horrible tonal shift away from enriching a realistic, immersive setting towards any old random gimmicks, I'm in no mood to consider getting RDR2, either (not unless they demonstrate a drastic reversal in design priorities, compared to the current state of GTAO...). :bored:

New racing suit is very Meh if you're playing male character, and AWFUL if you're playing as a female character. They even don't tried to make it look more womanly, just made it for a males, then CTRL+C CTRL+V. Very dissapointed, the game files model looked very promising for me.

And yes, you can't even change those idiotic sneakers. Bravo!

That's just it, isn't it? Asset quality at an all-time low in general, clothing and character customisation/personalisation is clearly not a priority - and the icing on the cake? Assets created for male characters, then just given a quick tweak and copied over for female characters. Still can't get my head around them thinking that male muscle definition on the scuba suits would work just fine for female characters... :facedesk:

This update is pretty disappointing indeed. The racing suits look terrible, the few cars and races are meh too. Guess well have to wait another 3 months..

Indeed. I don't know if there's any point in trying to achieve anything anymore in this game - they've broken even more stuff with races, car design quality is a crapshoot, and nearly a year since Zack Z's article, they've only doubled down on the lazy copy-pasted male character assets (when they bother to add any cosmetic items at all).

Meanwhile, over in Monster Hunter World (yet again - I love this game...):

img_chara.png

It took years for R* to do things like character appearance changes and homages to past games - meanwhile, Capcom's been doing that sort of thing straight away (including some neat costume tie-ins with Street Fighter V, Horizon Zero Dawn, and soon, Megaman and Devil May Cry). And it's a bit hard to tell, but a closer look shows that they actually bothered to do bespoke male and female versions of the Dante costume above - the hairdo is slightly different, and the female character version has been altered to fit the character proportions. I don't think they even bend/wrinkle in the same places - they've gone that far in not half-assing it.

...I - I just don't know what it'd take to get R* to turn this kind of thing around - if it's even possible, or worth the effort. :dontgetit:

Can we get more of these?

IMG_9762_1024x1024.jpg?v=1411069346

Also some more Liberty City sports wear

Maybe a Rampage hockey jersey? (The team Bulgarin tried to buy)

Also the ability to wear shirts under track jackets and track jacket combos like Niko had.

My character is from Steinway, Dukes which has a large Irish (and a bit German) population. Your typical white guy with Western European Ancestry from Dukes wears those kinda hats and usually is a big sports fan. All I ask is to be able to dress like that. There are some options but its not good enough. Increase the texture of the scally caps as well R*. This is Northeastern US thing because IT CAME FROM THE IRELAND AND THE UK. Seeing as you came from Edinburgh you should know this. The caps should have slightly visible tweed textures. Stuff that makes it look authentic and handmade.

Hockey jerseys aren't new either, saw em in Bully and GTA: SA.

(if others could mail this to R* that'd be great)

With all the talk of catsuits and other such bodysuits, I can't help but think of more "work" style jumpsuits and coveralls. I know we've got the boiler suits from heists, but I'm thinking more form fitting (as it seems everybody is...). Of course, fashion jumpsuits wouldn't be unwelcome, either! Kinda retro in all, and I'd be lying if I wasn't a little inspired by the Fallout series' Vault suits, which themselves were inspired by classic retrofuturism.

This spoiler-in-a-spoiler contains a few example screenshots of Fallout's Vault suit, if you're unfamiliar.

Though they might blow your mind if you know what you're looking at...

Also, hey, doesn't this look a lot like that new race jumpsuit but worn backwards? Though even this is a bit more figure-flattering than what we've recently received.

I think Fallout has always been good on the modding side of things for clothing, for both male and female. That just blew my mind, not only does it look good, it actually accentuates the model, something rarely seen in GTAO.

That vault suit is a bit too anime proportions IMO. I mean... those are cartoonishly big. I would rather GTAO have sh*tty clothes than fetishistic "good" clothes.

Ahah, indeed. That particular body shape isn't my personal favorite either (it really depends on the character you're going for, of course), but it's what the meshes of the Fallout 3/New Vegas Vault suit came with from the mod author. I'm not very handy at model editing, so I just let it be. My main point with mentioning and showcasing a Vault suit was to suggest a less-fetish-like-but-still-flattering bodysuit. The "work" style of the Fallout Vault jumpsuit fit the bill.

Do wish I had better images, those were just from testing out different pose mods for Skyrim. Was inspired to do a "wasteland" thing with the gun poses, but... I digress. And will probably find or create some better, less exaggerated shots later for better examples.

Unfortunately yes, but I would like to add more on this.

My take on all this clothes situation is that they moved the few internals responsible for clothing assets to other projects. This is most likely the case since last time we received actual clothes for female characters was during biker update (and no catsuits don't count for that :p) and that's been released almost 1 year and half ago.

After that all we got was either lazy reskins or clothes that weren't even ported to female characters, *cough cough* gunrunning shorts and scuba gear.

More on that, there's actually the interview with that irman guy or whatever his name was that in short said clothes were "free" and by using that logic they aren't really spending resources for something they consider free, unlike vehicles that receive all their attention, since these are the ones that sell the cards.

This is interesting and makes a lot of sense. Understandable that they are focusing on more profitable items, such as vehicles and such. Makes me wonder if thats the reason some clothing items were sky-high in terms of prices. Catsuits were double the prices I originally sent to them and some pre-made outfits hit $100,000+. But of course, if the clothes aren't right, no one will buy them.

Regardless, I'm constantly in contact with MouthOff with new ideas :D

And so I return, as foretold by... myself, bearing gifts of more well-thought-out screenshots and ruminations about jumpsuits. I'll keep it all in spoilers below, so if you're already convinced on more jumpsuits, you can scroll on by. If you still need convincing (or just want to look at my screenshooting skills or my characters' butts), all will be revealed at the click of a spoiler tag. Magic!

So, the main point of "jumpsuits" over catsuits or what-have-you is that jumpsuits are more common, more industrial, and more "lower-class" than other things, and yet they can still look good. Fashion, y'know? I decided to use the Fallout series' Vault jumpsuits as an example, both because they're easy to access for me and exactly what I have in mind. Well, not "exactly," but pretty darn close. And if you're wondering why these are Skyrim screenshots, or how there's a Vault suit in Skyrim, my only answer for you is to sit down and stop asking questions that nobody has the answers to. Until the aliens arrive with all the answers, we're out of luck.

You might also notice that these meshes are based on the Fallout 3/New Vegas jumpsuit, stretched to fit a Skyrim skeleton and body. I prefer the folded, ragged look, but the Fallout 3/NV body isn't too great at looking human.

And, hey, I'm not shy. I'll also include the tighter Fallout 4 jumpsuit for good measure. While it goes against my ideal of a more rugged, utilitarian look, it's got its merits. Not a fan of the perma-wedgie, though.

It's a big part of my personal tastes for anything - from clothing to automobiles to home decoration - that there's some use to everything. Style being thrown in is appreciated, and flattery of the human form is like the best thing ever, but I find it hard to really connect with the more vanity-oriented of fashion. Nothing's worse than fake wear-and-tear! Though, in the long run, I guess it's all vanity, since it's a video game about spending money on quick thrills. Hm.

I love your idea of "fashion jumpsuits" aren't they called pantsuits? eh i have recently come into ownership of 2 of them, and i gotta say they are so goddamn comfortable and give a really good amount of movement, perfect for everything from driving to getting in gunfights after climbing a skyscraper
