Jets are frustrating to some people cause they are hard to counterattack when the pilot is skilled. One can only go passive really. You don't need to be a skilled pilot to avoid the utterly pointless and ineffective homing launcher. no, but you need to be skilled to be able to hit players without crashing, especially if the player is on foot. No, you don't. Using the jet cannon and getting your kill every time very quickly in a single strafe requires skill. Since you're traveling in the fastest speed without mods, you'll need a high level of focus, reaction and skill to do that. Also practice. Unless you're one of those people who believe nothing in GTA online requires skill: the ability to do something well. Or you're one of those people who somehow think ground combat PvP requires more skill. I think both require a certain amount of skill to perfect but that's just my opinion. i used to hate the jets but then a jet griefer took me under her wing and teached me the art of jet griefin...and its simply great! to be honest, like i have said many times in the past, becoming a jet griefer is like the natural evolution of the freeroam warrior. you can only kill that many people on the ground til the brain stop releasing that little dose of dopamine that make you feel great. i had over 44k player kills on the ground at the moment i started using the jet, ground pvp felt dull for me at the time. learning the jet breathed new life into the game for me. now i not only can kick your ass on the ground but can kick your ass on the air haha seriously people that hate the jet should really go out and try to learn to use the thing properly, it would change your perspective. I don't hate jets, I hate people that use jets to kill others well its a jet... what am i supposed to with it? Most kills are from splash damage from the explosive rounds or lock on rockets. I'm useless in a jet and even I can get a few kills with it. No real skill required. You start playing cheesy and grief me with a Hydra, I'll keep RPG suiciding when you strafe at me. I get the kill on you and you don't get one on me! So I still win! Next... This happened a few hours ago: F*cking idiot! No you wouldn't straight down strafe, you cant aim that high. I'm aware of that too. That's why you look and determine where the idiot pilot will begin to recover from the dive and shoot the rocket in front of them, so they run into it. You don't know how to snipe and it works the same why. You don't aim at them, you aim at the direction that they are moving towards, so they move in the path of the bullet. I've killed jets many times like that too. He's just like you, thinks he's invincible in a jet and called me a modder, because he got shot down 4 times. Because you have to try multiple attempts with the RPG while they bomb you over and over and over and over and even then there's some pilots who are good and bomb you from straight up and you can't even aim your RPG that high.. Because whenever you try to get a jet of your own, most of the jet pilots are uber tryhards and will go and camp every jet spawn point and will blow up your Hydra before you get to it, even with off the radar I have encountered plenty of people who are incredibly fast and camping the spawns and predicting where you're going to go.. Basically people hate jets because you're helpless and defenceless if the person who's griefing you is good at what he's doing. People hate being defenceless, it's an infuriating feeling, the same as being bullied and that's why people hate jets. EVeryone thinks they are 'good pilots'.. till a real good pilot comes around and wrecks them or forces them into passive. And no one on the ground ever considers a free roam troll a good pilot. They love getting peppered by unlimited exploding bullets from the most OP vehicle/weapon in the game when minding their own business. It gives them a chance to stop having fun and focus on one idiot in the jet till hes gone. Such a fun thing to do on a daily basis. LOL a non-official random freeroam event, the jet icon means the need for preparation to counter attack the idiot flying it haha OP: as most people said, it's not the jet that is the problem, it's the idiot flying it looking for the easiest way to gain cheap kills, that's the problem. You don't need to hit the pilot, just hit the jet a few times. It'll smoke, the pilot will panic, he'll move on to find his next jet. I'll absolutely use a jet to bounty hunt. Don't like it? Get better. Get in your own jet and shoot my ass out of the sky then. I love flying. I'm that kid flying upside down between buildings in a Besra mocking your fire fight and sh*tty jet griefing pilots. But just because I don't see the value of raising my K/D and harassing players doesn't mean I hate jets. Some of you are seriously butt hurt. You can always rob the fun by hitting passive and moving on if it bothers you. Some of you really do think this game should be played a certain way, you seem to think there are rules and ethics. Remember the mission Vertical Bird? I don't hate jets. Or the people that use them. This. Not everyone who uses a vehicle is exactly the same. For every monkey - masked, reverse driving Zentorno, there's a racer who genuinely likes the way the car drives. For every passive - abusing troll in a jet, there's a player who uses them to take down large crews, plays fairly, and/or likes doing stunts with them. I for one enjoy wall-hugging in Los Santos with an Insurgent. It's hilarious to see pilots taking minutes and two-digit passes to realize that no, they can't take me out like that even though I'm not in passive. It's not an accomplishment either. I don't hate pilots. I despise and hate troll pilots. It is more the griefers in jets, who take great joy in destroying others in them in a session. I think it is more respectable to fight on the ground, face to face, either with a melee weapon or lead. Flying up in the sky where your only death can result in you just plainly crashing, or being destroyed with a rocket. I, however, try to make a fight equal. Why not just pay for the Hydra and pick it up in a convenient area as many times as you please? Is it that much better than a Hydra? I wouldn't know because I don't really bother with this aspect of free roam. Most of the action seems to be on the ground anyway. Can't even remember the last time I bothered going into Zancudo. Seems like such a waste of time. I would be more interested in flying if people were actually into dogfighting, but most just run away and hit passive when another jet shows up. Too bad people don't play the actual missions where you DM in jets. Forgot the name of those. I used to own peeps trying to get me with missles while I destoyed them over and over with the guns Those were good times. I agree though that it's not the jet but the a hole piloting it that people hate. Jets can be a lot of fun and I'm glad they are in the game. Misanthrope Z Posted February 1, 2016 Share Posted February 1, 2016 (edited) the topic of jets is controversial to me. i use them mostly to fight idiots who have modded accounts, or to clear an area full of people that are ganging up on someone i know. not my go-to playstyle by default, i prefer to fight on the pavement, but i take it to the skies if i see some suspicious sh*t happening. they're effective in situations like that. however, it's still incredibly sh*tty that nothing really poses much of a challenge to a jet, besides another jet. or sometimes it's own sh*tty pilot who will likely just cower in passive mode, or leave the session like a bitch the very second they crash or get shot out of the sky. and if you're using a Lazer, then it's practically the easiest thing in the world to keep the entire sky on lockdown. so really, the hatred comes from the fact that they're used for easy kills with little/no risk involved and that way too many "pilots", at their core, are just cowardly carebears who are scared sh*tless of being killed. hence their go-to tactic is to hide in the sky and avoid all contact, while mindlessly hurling explosives at players who have pretty much nothing to retaliate with.
