[GTA2 REL] Cars from IV and V + new weapon HUD icons

Recommended Posts

It's the police car from GTA IV, the one that doesn't look like an Impala, though from this perspective it isn't much different than the new GTA V one. I want to make the old North Yankton model for the Industrial Area level now :p

Thanks!!

I've finally made some more stuff for this mod. Here's the new download link:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/zm9tmc9apas99ps/gta2_mod.rar

I hope I didn't forget to include any file.

I've replaced some more vehicles, such as:

-GTA 3 Rhino for the first 2 levels (unfortunately the turret is not properly centered when you turn it :/ )

-GTA V Rhino for the 3rd level

-Kaufman Taxi Cab

-GTA IV Taxi

-Dilettante (Prius) with custom performance (it starts slow and suddenly goes fast after a while, I wanted to make it like it starts with an electric engine and then switches to gas :p ). The Scientists gang drives it.

-Police SUV for the second level

-Hotknife (hot rod) with custom performance (goes really fast but it's hard to control). I replaced the Loonies car with that one but Idk if that was a good idea.

I also added a Star Junction/Times Square ish place to the first level, a Well Stacked Pizza and some billboards.
The mod includes my snow mod for the 3rd level. The sty files are already edited and I also changed the car names in the text, but you can still use a GTA 2 sty editor if you want to extract an individual car.

I'm thinking of changing the Loonies into Yardies or the second level Zaibatsus into Triads and change the texts accordingly.

tbh, you should replace the Loonies car with V Panto instead of Hotknife. Also, you can use the Ingot as Bulwark replacement (and for Russian gang car).

Looks nice. I could aslo recommend replacing the Karma Bus (Hare Khrisna bus) with Prison Bus with yellow School Bus texture and Z-Type with a luxury sedan like Felon or Jackal.

Also, what is this car based on?

I'm not sure, if I recall correctly I used the GTA V Park Ranger as a base but made it a 2 door SUV because I replaced the U-Jerk truck that's pretty short. I guess I can make it so that it loads the sprite from a place in the sheet with more space for a longer vehicle but I didn't want to mess up too much back when I made it.

So it's kind of made up because there aren't any modern 2 door SUVs in GTA V I think. And the name "Rancher" probably makes more sense since it's not a police vehicle but I liked "Ranger" better :p

It's still probably too short for an SUV of that kind, maybe I'll change it into something else.

Those 2 cars look like good replacements for the Z-Type. For the Karma bus I currently have the BF Surfer which I think it looks alright but it still has the reverse beep sound of a truck and those air brakes that don't make sense for this vehicle. I might switch to a school bus instead or use a different vehicle in some of the other levels if I can change the name ID for each level.

I didn't test it with a Hare Krishna paintjob yet:

-snip-

You should replace the U-Jerk Truck with IV Rancher (which is a 2-door).

About the Surfer, you should keep it, but replace it with something else (i.e., Hot Dog Van). Since currently, it looks ridiculously enormous and bigger than the Truck Cab.

Thanks for the feedback! About the unused Hot Dog vans, I had a weird problem with them :p they have pretty bad performance and when I tried to change anything about it in the performance file, it caused a strange glitch that made all the traffic cars drive really stupid. Like they would ignore cars ahead and crash into each other, run over people, etc. Idk if it only happens in certain versions of GTA 2 or if the performance of the Hot Dog dummy vans is not meant to be changed :/

I already put the GTA V Emperor in the previous version if you mean that one. It's the pink one from the bottom left of the last screenshot. The Oceanic would be cool.

Here's a new version of the mod with more cars replaced:

I'm currently fixing the size of the Rancher (turned it into a Landstalker) and the Patriot by using an extra texture page. My game starts to lag after a while but I don't know if that's causing it or it's just that I'm running it on a very old computer.

Oh goodie, an update!

I think you shouldn't mess with the unused Hot Dog Dummy, but the Hot Dog Van and Ice Cream Van itself is a good base for many vans (i.e. Surfer, Moonbeam, Boxville, Minivan, etc.). You could edit the size of the sprite slot using STYed so the collision won't be too wonky and you don't need to make an oversized vehicles.

Also, you should include the sprite sheets and delta only (like your first release) for people like me, who happen to have unlock all cars for all districts in their .sty file.

I see, thanks! Yeah, I'm adjusting the collision boxes. Making the BF Surfer too huge was just me not paying attention to how big I was making it :p But I forgot to put it back in the game replacing some other vehicle.

The Hot Dog van plays a part in a mission in the third level I think so I'll probably replace it with another hot dog van or leave it like that because changing the ID for the name in one level also means changing the performance, I wanted to use the Hot Dog Dummies for that but it caused trouble. Otherwise, since I can't change the name, I might make a Boxville or some other van and just put a hot dog on it for the third level version.

By sprite sheet, you mean the "export raw" feature of the sty editor that exports one .bmp with all the sprites, right?

And I think that my sty files are already set to have all the cars in all the districts, except the Ice Cream van in the third level.

Yeah, that's what I meant, instead of you giving the full .sty file, I'd prefer that you release the sprites and deltas for each car instead.

I mean, the first two levels doesn't really use the Hot Dog van in a mission, so better turn it into something else.

Also, I noticed that you replaced the Penumbra in the first version with Oracle (since both cars replaced Shark in-game). Do you have any plans with the Penumbra for something else?

Actually, that's Lokus, not Oracle. I'm sure the Penumbra is going to be used as a Yakuza vehicle instead of Carbonizzare (I'd prefer for it to replace the A-Type or Michelli Roadster)
