lpgunit
Is it really, and I mean really necessary to have a cat spayed or neutered? My folks are more or less used to Ruffles bawwing and cawwing often, and yet I just couldn't seem to just pass it off as background noise due to how piercing her mating yells are. I tried to convince them by showing and explaining the benefits of having said cat spayed, yet they just couldn't seem to care and shrug it off as a non-issue. What gives??? trip
Don't make me get all Bob Barker on ya. Yes it is important. Think of the frustration of wanting sex but never being able to have any. And you certainly don't want to accidentally contribute to the over population of cats and (possibly unwanted) pets. Not sure if it is the same with cats, but if you spay a female dog before her first heat her chance of breast cancer gets reduced by nearly 100%. But yeah...spay your cat. She'll be happy and you want have to deal with her all hot pants'ing around your house. lpgunit
Wish convincing them to have her treated was that easy, but noooo. They keep on telling me, "Don't mind the cat, you're just stressing yourself", "She's just a cat" or "We're used to it but how come you're not?". It's like I'm a Cassandra here, warning them to take the critter's well-being into account in vain. PhillBellic
Skeever
Yes, you absolutely should spay and neuter your cats. All of our male cats were neutered a few years back so we didn't have to worry about the females getting impregnated, but despite that most of the females would be howling for hours on end (there were a few sisters that would actually gather together and sing like a f*cking choir), so about a year or two later we got them spayed, too. It's been mostly peaceful since then. I hope your folks follow through with it and spay that horny bastard Ruffles. El Dildo and lpgunit

Majestic81
Only if you get tired of the cat making noise. I know it. Its irritating. Spaying is not really necessary at all.. But if shes not spayed and you dont bring her a male companion then you better get used to her making noise and being restless every few months. El Dildo
Spaying is not really necessary at all.. yes it is. if you don't spay or neuter your pets then you are responsible for the millions of stray dogs and cats that will be put to death every single year because they have no homes. Spider-Vice
Definitely spay/neuter your cat. It will be good for her as well because well, she won't be as desperate, she'll be healthier (less chance of hormone-related diseases) and she won't be annoying. PhillBellic
Every Pet should be De-Sexed. It's the best way of combating Over-Population, especially considering the effects of Euthanising tens of millions of animals each year, because they can't find a home.
