Deathmatch issues? Why people don't like them?

So I was playing earlier and came across the issue of not being able to hurt another player enough to kill them, despite stabbing them 3 or 4 times, so obviously googled to see if I can do anything about.. I found a thread on here about deathmatch scams etc.. I don't see why people hate them? I mean of course it's gonna be full of arseholes and as for the fact 'only the creator can win' <<<< not ALWAYS true. It took me a while to get the hang of standing back and watching other players pull of the sneaking behind fences and whatnot.

I find them hilariously fun, doesn't anyone else?? That's why I'm playing, just to have fun, so why do so many people hate them?? Am I missing something?

My personal opinion as an old, cranky and cynical man, is that many video gamers of the current generation have simply no appreciation of being a good sport. (playing a competition where no side has an advantage, other than skill) Along with that comes the attitude that if they aren't good at something the first time around, they will scream and cry like babies and usually give up immediately. (as many people quit deathmatches, rather than finish them when getting ass kicked) Along with that comes these horribly unfair deathmatches where the creator makes some glitchy way to escape a pit of death to farm some kills to pad the ol' KDR. Many have been burned by these.

You see this is why I've asked, I was sure I was missing something, luckily I've never been in a deathmatch like that (didn't know people actually took their KD that seriously) and I've played a lot of them. Yeah, I noticed the quitting thing is a running theme, fair enough then. I can understand it.

The last time I checked I was playing a game called Grand Theft Auto.... not Call of duty... although Rockstar is catering to the COD kids by giving us all a KD status. I play the game solely for the story/RP experience. I prefer Heist and contract missions over some silly deathmatch bullsh*t anytime.

If I want to play a good PVP game, I would go else where. This game is a terrible game for a PVP experience due to piss poor anti cheat system, and the lag is just terrible in this game.

the game is a shooter... that's online... R* should maintain the DM community more as people shold be competitively killing each other in a fair enviroment instead of running around triple rolling wearing helmets while the rest of their bodies are invisble!

Tbh K/D does mean nothing in GTA as I've heard more than one random player say they change session once their jets destroyed. As well as the idiotas that kill themselves to preserve their K/D. My K/Ds only 1.20 but I take more fun in trolling people with fake accents than preserving my KD.

Safe to say 99.9999% of people playing the game are f*cking idiots!

Most deathmatches are parkour sausage-fests where one person will always win by getting to the weapons first (unless nobody gets to the weapons). The decent ones are few and far between. Any new players - if you get invited to a deathmatch with the title "9999999999999$ + 99999999999RP" or something similiar, DO NOT, under any circumstances, join it.

I like deathmatches, but the matchmaking, helmets and general lack of genuine players, is difficult to comprehend at times.

Don't get me wrong I like deathmatches just for a break from trying to complete stuff.

I was just unaware of the big issue with them. I completely get why a lot of players don't like them now. I had literally no idea about the whole shooting fish in a barrel thing. I've only been playing for like three/four months.

He is right.

Sadly, the general populace that plays GTA i.e. the assisted aiming retards, with modded accounts don't generally host quality user created content so you're always more than likely to end up in a sh*tty match designed very badly or in some ways a spawn trap map.

If you are looking for a list of good TDM's that are created by some good creators.

So, we had been asking for a Deathmatch Filter and we finally got one with the Executives and Other Criminals DLC.

Now im not one to look a gift horse in the @ss but after filtering out "user created" maps (thanks to the never-ending Parkour entries) I am stuck with Rockstar created, which isnt a bad thing except the only map I still find 'busy' is the damn Shotgun Wedding map.

I have bookmarked pretty cool, strategic created maps but no one joins them, they just collect dust. I have some bookmarked maps under the "No Translation" title and no one joins them ever and its a shame because the reason the title says that is because the original title is in a foreign language and it is not translated. Really a shame there as some of those maps are in outdoor locations rarely visited.

Noobs hate DMs because let's face it, experienced killers can be very frustrating, enough for people to never play a DM again.

But thank the video game gods for those noobs that take a beating and are only encouraged to do everything to get better like watch videos, record themselves and study their mistakes, experiment with their aiming/shooting settings, hit the shooting range...(and not just buy modded stats while still going 2-19 in matches).

These days the only time i get excited about the bookmarked maps is when some of my friends and crew show up and I can ask them to play the maps, most of the time its just so I can check the maps out.

I hope someday we get a DM menu that is more detailed, I wouldnt care about having to spend a little more time choosing the DM than having to exit out of DMs I wouldnt have joined had there been a list. I am currently creating a DM map [PS4] and if it goes well, I will share it so you can all give me some feedback.

Good luck to all you DM junkies, DM junkies in progress, future DM junkies, and DM creators.

McKeever, I have several of your maps Bookmarked and I've enjoyed playing them all.

FreeAim Jesus, thanks for that list. You know I will be checking all of them. Some I remember.

So let's do something about it. Like maybe start or Find a die-hard DM community.

My problem is I'm on mostly on the weekend days but if we got something going, I'd alter my weekday evenings to compete.

Either way, look forward to your invites.

The User-Created Job Filter was a bad call. Rockstar should have done weekly/monthly check ups on removing all of those obnoxious spawn-trap Deathmatches and banning the people that made them from the Creator.

Rockstar itself hasn't verified anything in a while. They only featured childish looking stunt races, bullsh*t vs bullsh*t or poorly made structures with gimmicks.

Rockstar doesn't really connect with it's community given player created content. Even less so with the game's balancing and combat mechanics. PS4 might be next-gen but modded accounts are still being transfered with nothing stopping them. Then there's of course try-hard crews that will do absolutely everything they can to win, be it looking up the latest God Mode glitch, taking The Easy Way Out, using the Jet 1v1 Respawn Glitch and even after using that, they fail at it as they get demolished by more experienced players. It's laughable how desperate some people get for up'ing their K/D and being self-obsessed with their fake reputation when no one really gives a DAMN about them.

There's a moltitude of solutions at which Rockstar can focus on yet they'll never do it I'm afraid. Free Aim Assisted and Free Aim are still in the same lobby. Bulletproof Helmets are still at large and even worse, Rockstar even promote wearing them as seen from the Dropzone Adversary Mode, they gave Bulletproof Helmets discounts.

I recommend finding a good crew or a group of people that find enthusiasm in Deathmatches where they'll be good sports and not resort to using exploits or cheap tactics to win. Because in the end, this is a Video Game, it's meant to provide fun.

Oh and Free Aim Jesus, your browser might have malfunctioned, it didn't paste all of SmootheJohnny's recommended Deathmatches on your list, let me to help you with that!

I agree with most of your points Zorvaine, but in regards to Rockstar engagement of the community, it's more engaged with the casual players rather than those who really enjoy the game at its finest, in free aim. The bullet proof helmets are a good example of this, I'm quite sure in assisted aim when the game targets the head for you, they're significantly less annoying than in free aim.

So the masses of casuals are pleased, whilst most are totally unaware of the impact it has in free aim, sadly we are amongst a minority crowd, much like the players that enjoyed IV, our voices and concerns won't be addressed, otherwise they would have removed free aim assisted by now.

I agree with you entirely, Zorvy. Adding on I've always had issues with people who use RPGs against rifles (and still die) and then lament the lack of "fair" play, make up bullsh*t which they cannot prove to try and bring those down who they can never hope to reach, crews who like to put on a face of being all righteous and pure but associate themselves with proven modders and modded crews behind the scenes. Often these are the type of people who will attempt to create rules in a paradigm where rules cannot exist because they simply have no other way of even hoping to emerge victorious. The weak man resides on the earth, cursing at the jet that destroys him, writing essays demanding that the pilot comes down to fight on his terms. The strong man gets in a cockpit and shoots that f*cker down.

Absolutely.

I've seen so many players do that. There's also those that go after level 1's while they're for example, shopping for clothing and yet you'll still see players drive up to them in an Armored Kuruma. It's incredible how desperate some people are for kills. Regarding those that use RPGs, I've seen the Free Aim Community upload a moltitude of videos that never show everything that happens, claiming false outcomes and bragging about them. Reminds me of the MC community on Snapmatic where they kill an AFK player and post a photo of his body bragging to everyone.

There are also those Free Aimers that write entire etiquettes of rules, be it GTA Forums or any private forum. The same people then resort to being poor sports at which they whine like 10 year olds demanding crew battles because they think their opinions are significant when in reality, they just make themselves look bad.

Jets are another thing imbalanced with Freemode. They introduced the Homing Launcher and ironically enough, it functions on everything but jets. Usually the people sitting in the cockpits are compensating for something they lack as they usually go Passive Mode as soon as their jet is destroyed since they're too afraid to fight on ground level. Their crying can be music to anyone's ears when their jets get sniped out of the sky.

I feel you, Jesus, Mary and Broseph.

However can anything said without video evidence really be taken as anything other than the nonsensical ramblings of a sociopathic mind?

It does baffle me how desperate some crews can be for games. Why an old Arab friend of mind once tried to force through a crew battle knowing full well that mods would soon be wiped and at least 2 of his crew's starters were secretly modded (I of course found concrete evidence that they were).

Equally so, what really baffles me is when Crew A accuses Crew B of fighting dirty in freemode. Crew B offers Crew A a crew battle where rules could be agreed on. Crew A denies this offer and claims Crew B are desperate for it, when in fact Crew B were just trying to give Crew A what they were asking for. This backs up my opinion that some crews don't actually have any values or set of rules, it's just a card to play when the chance of victory is ridiculously slim.

Such play can be easily countered. One of my favourite methods is to drop a sticky bomb on the jet before the passive player hops in. Great fun.

Jet sniping is one of my favourite pass times, but I question the jet sniping ability of players who choose to write novels to all their friends about the asshole in a jet instead of actually attempting to snipe said asshole.

I would personally never believe someone's claims without video evidence. People that I've known for a longer time however, I trust. Because knowing their attitudes, I know which people on my Friend List would lie and which wouldn't.

It just comes down to the type of person. As you mention people with modded accounts, I see what you mean. Rockstar needs to find a way to patch those miscreants. I know a few crews that claim being legit but after viewing solid evidence by my own eyes, it's incredible how some people believe their own lies. GTA definitely attracts some fairly sociopathic people with pathological liar issues.

Completely agree on the fact that most crews don't have any values. I would personally never accept fighting against a crew that I know uses exploits, trash talks and acts hypocritical in everything they do. It's become a common stand point for most combat competitive crews on GTA and it's due to Rockstar's severe lack of balancing. It's a waste of time fighting a modded crew with a mentality of a ghetto kindergarten. Can't help but pity them.

Jet Sniping can be a challenge. Although it loses it's remark when there's people doing the 1v1 Deathmatch Glitch where even if you snipe a jet down, he'll just respawn in one.

Many have been burned by these.

darkgreenmeme sums it up well. People have no appreciation of being good sports. They will resort to any try-hard method possible and then cry that no one wants to fight them. Maybe one day when Rockstar actually fixes GTA:O.

I never play player made deathmatches for this reason. 95% of all player made deathmatches are just

"OMG GLITCH 9999999999999999999999RP $99999999999999999999999" and its literally a box with guns outside of it that only the creator knows how to get to. That's why I'm grateful for the option to Quick Join R* made deathmatches only, or verified ones. Triphasic is my favourite.

Rockstar should employ someone like McKeever to monitor the created content, and give him the power to delete dodgy sh*t like those spawn trap maps.

There are a lot of great maps out there, sadly they do not get played enough and the matchmaking is diabolical.

I get regularly invited by someone to his deathmatches, but I don't join because he is a free-aimer and will probably destroy me. Nah, although I`m a bit afraid of those free-aim skills, this is not the reason and I really got to apologize. I appreciate those invites and since a few friends have stopped playing I swear I will join them in the near future.

I can live with being destroyed as long as it is a fair game. This barely happens to me in assisted aim, but if it happens, I`m totally fine with that. I rather lose a fair fight 1:10 than win an unfair fight 10:1. What really pisses me off when it comes to deathmatches is lag. The problems with modded accounts got much better, as far as I know, only faster speed is a thing now, annoying enough, but pretty rare. Anyways, lag in deathmatches is horrible. It is an issue in other gamemodes as well and can be annoying, but this is no way near to how worse it is in DMs. And from what I have observed, the person who is causing the lag, the weaker connection, is getting the advantage. I really don't want to know what the ping of some people is sometimes.

This is the only point where I mostly ragequit. When I get killed by a low level with a pistol, while I`m shooting at his head with an assault rifle, I don't see any point to continue. The direct gunfight is the only thing that matters in DMs, so the first thing is a decent connection on every side to make it enjoyable.

Anyways, I agree on your opinions about good sports in this game. They are rare, really rare. To be honest, they are so rare, I consider it as win when I message somebody "GG, got to give up" and he replies with "No problem". Win in terms that the fight was worth it because I did not fight against a complete idiot. Maybe it has to do something with the age and the older generation does not necessarily need to win by any means, I don't know. But what is striking for me is that younger players tend to play and enjoy shooters I would not touch, they have nothing to do with the shooters I played when I was younger. They do not require any kind of tactics at all. And there is not a simple sign of etiquette. It does not exist.

Lying sociopaths, yeah, they are definitely more common than good sports. I honestly don't know why. I mean, this is still the internet, where every weirdo can pretend to be whatever he wants, but I`ve seen more, hard to name them, maybe "social bad sports" in this game than anywhere else. I don't know if this is because the usual gamer has a lack of social skills or if this has something to do with GTA. I've seen bullying I did not see since primary school and I usually play with people 30+. Kind of shocking, but too off topic.

Good old video evidence hey?!

It's difficult to play a game like GTA and treat it too seriously though, especially freemode in my experience, any player that attaches rules of combat engagement in freemode is either taking roleplay too seriously or needs to get a life and get used to it. I hardly play it, but I've been accused of cheating in the past for using a sniper, for using driveby and for being 'cheap' by placing a sticky bomb.... it's really about 'freedom', and unless you're an arsehole and you're going under the map to kill players from a glitch like that, then all is fair in my view. Organised games with rules though, that's when you can start preaching about rules, and you will be hard pressed to find a crew more legit, more fair than the Damned in the competitive circles, I and other senior members have done all we can to stop persistent modded players from joining, but when you have over 15,000 requests to join and a lot of free aimers being as they are, it's difficult at times.

Any ways a pity that those who preach do not practice their own personal fake f*cking self-righteousness as evidenced in video ;)

Yup PSN: TheMckeever and the only problems I have with DMs is there's never enough people joining, Helmet-abusers/invisible bodies and kids shouting "put it on owned MoNica!!"

So let's do something about it. Like maybe start or Find a die-hard DM community.

My problem is I'm on mostly on the weekend days but if we got something going, I'd alter my weekday evenings to compete.

Either way, look forward to your invites.

This would be good.
