GTA needs a lobby system like Black Ops

I know people here seem to hate COD for some reason but a lobby system setup like COD has would do wonders for this game.

In case someone hasn't played COD Black Ops and doesn't know what I'm talking about when you start up online multiplayer you first choose between core, hardcore, or party games then choose which game type you want to play TDM, CTF, Domination, Kill Confirmed, etc.

To me this type of system would be ideal for GTA instead of the current set up. Now you only get to choose between full public lobbies, invite only, crew session, and solo. If GTA was to apply a system like COD you would be able to choose from a wide range of lobbies and which would open up the world for a lot of people. Instead of different game types like COD has GTA could have different options like friendly fire off, no cops, hardcore modes with no HUDS or player icons above players heads, and maybe even a mode where you play contact missions inside of free roam instead of separate lobbies for each specific mission.

I've never had a problem with how GTA was set up to get online until I started playing black ops again and realized how much better the online matchmaking was compared to GTA.

Thoughts?

As I've said several places on GTAF, even Unreal Tournament's peer-to-peer session listing in 1999 dial-up was vastly superior to whatever the hell it is that Rockstar has pooped out for GTA Online.

To be honest I bet half the people that play this game don't even know that there's a quick job option on the phone, these people probably also join $999,999,999 deathmatches and eat glue. Most people stick to freemode anyway so a lobby system wouldn't catch on like it has on COD.

I never knew CoD invented spec ops gear and military equipment. Guess I learn something new everyday.

It would make things more simplified for picking things like Assisted Aim Vs Free Aim, but the implementation of this would be not worth the hassle for R*.

I like the idea, but unfortunately I can't see these things changing anytime soon.

The lobby system sucks sh*t in GTAOnline. Of course it should be like CoD, that system is a million times better even if the actual gameplay in that game is sh*t. At least those idiots know how to make a functional lobby system.

The matchmaking system in GTAO is perfect if you like wasting your life staring at a static screen.

Seems like a good idea in writing. Lobbies where players can't kill other players but can still use guns to kill cops.

With the addition of dedicated servers all our virtual problems would be solved.

I never had a problem eating week-old roadkill until I started eating fresh nutritious food again.

This has been a problem since day one. It is clear online games is not R*'s strong suit. They need to hire some people from outside who know how to engineer the networking better. I don't play too many games, but the few I do play connect, maintain connections, load up, and load out, infinitely faster than GTA Online. This game's networking performance is the worst I have seen for almost 15 years. I remember PS2 games that networked better and faster than this.

Agreed 10000000%

The amount of time wasted staring at a spinning icon, waiting for a spinning icon, floating in the clouds, waiting to time out, etc etc...is unforgivable. Unless you really like playing the offline game, only a fool would pay for another R* online game.

gtao just need the damn lobby options like in IV, still dont get why R* scrapped one of the best features.

just choose your preferences and the game would put you in a lobby that fits you.

heck they can add a "hardcore" or "no cops" session and it would be super popular!

I agree ^, Halo 2 online on the original Xbox worked better than GTA V and I played that on dial-up. lol

We already know servers and match-making is sh*t and R* won't do anything about it. I'd be happy with a police-free/police-less lobby, that's the least R* can do.

I keep reading about R* not being online game specialists, but I never (and I mean NEVER) had a problem with RDR or GTA IV. GTA V is another story... I can't go 2 minutes without an error.

I've been playing online avidly for about 8 years and GTA V is by far my worst expetience and it's not even close... That's not supposed to happen in 2016.

I'm not talking about join jobs. What I'm talking about is when you actually join online.

The hate for COD is strong on this forum. To the person who said its not just go to any thread about PvP on this forum and guaranteed on the first page there will be at least one person saying this game isn't COD or referring in some manner to the people who play COD.

Or just make it similar to GTA 4's multiplayer where there were custom pubic lobbies. You could turn police, friendly fire, etc. off. Of course, I'd rather they tone it down and not really allow people to toy with locking the map to a specific area or turning traffic off, but definitely allow us to have custom lobbies where cops and friendly fire can be turned off.

Anyone who thinks GTA Online is fine as of now is an idiot.

Time doesn't last and I would rather play the game than waste my time looking at a loading screen.

So what your saying, is the 7 / 8 odd million players who play every week are idiots, and the handful of people complaining in here are the smart ones? That's smart.

Yes those who cant see how the game has match making issues are idiots.

I bet more than half those who play complain about the game issues, the ones on GTA F are the minority of these players.

I believe what you're suggesting would be a terrible solution, I think it's fine right now. What you suggest would segregate the pool of players too much.

Your wrong BTW.
