Does going into stealth mode increase accuracy?

I remember hearing somewhere that when you are in stealth mode, you also get a slight accuracy boost. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not? Did a bunch of searches and couldn't find the answer anywhere but I am sure someone here will know.

Yes, it increases the accuracy of the npc trying to SHOOT you lol...

I'm pretty sure it does. The complex reticule shrinks, implying increased accuracy when entering stealth mode.

I think.

how exactly? decrease the recoil?

what recoil?

Tried the marksman at level 1 lately ?.

of course not. you're saying that the recoil is bad for low levels? then you better level up your shooting skill because stealth mode does nothing.

What stealth mode? Oh you mean hunched over mode.

we dont need crouching though, do we?you can crouch behind cover.

It makes you harder to get head shot in close quarter combat, you can duck your head from showing from behind a wall, and it can keep your blip hidden in deathmatches (and maybe last team standing and other modes) these are pretty much the only uses for stealth mode... No accuracy boost.

One guy i know says it disables auto lock...

But then again...he kinda said me several things already that were debunked...then again...he is not a complete idiot or something so maybe he is right on this one :)

this might also useful if you want to walk in ledge ( at which slew your character's movement even more )

I always thought it reduces the sway when zoomed with a sniper..so whenever I'm sniping I automatically click l3..probably for no reason after reading this

I use stealth when someone's shooting at me, it lowers your head a few inches and I'll take any fair advantage I can get.

I can hear the cop's response now...

"He just disappeared!"

Heh, yes, they're amusingly blind sometimes.

You reminded me though: I never got to the bottom of whether stealth is needed to hide in bushes from cops. I have full stealth and it works fine but I wanted someone with sh*tty stealth to see if they could get away with it.

OT I'll do some testing tonight to see if e.g. Combat MG spread varies over a full mag in and out of stealth.

Play gta iv, rdr, mp3 and tell me if we need crouching.

Does metal gear need prone? -_-

This is true and I also mentioned this in the crouch thread (I hope this does not turn into another crouch thread). The best TDM and RNG players will tell you that stealth mode is critical in gunfights because it makes you harder to hit AND increases accuracy. The misconception I think comes from the fact it's called "stealth" mode, and when activated standing still, yes it hunches you over and makes you slow & quiet... but when activated when strafing (running, aiming, and shooting at the same time) it does not slow down your run, it makes your head harder to hit, and increases accuracy, esp. at longer range. (I'm talking about assault rifles, not snipers)

In my tests it had no impact on spread or accuracy at all with any gun. What made a huge difference was zooming in with the right click.

It doesn't increase your accuracy. I know because I utilize stealth mode in every RNG game I play. It actually does make you harder to hit, though.

i don't think that if you lean down just a bit you will get better accuracy.

at least not in this game

It does increase accuracy, I can tell you that for sure.

I can't believe I just quoted myself...LOL. Anyways, I am a competitive GTA player. Whenever you use stealth mode, it DOES increase accuracy, at least for Assault Rifles it does. Most people in the competitive community play claw for this reason. (On Xbox) They have their middle finger on the right trigger, their right index on the 'A' button, right thumb on the analog stick, and their left hand completely normal. The benefit they get from this is when they play the standard controls, they can keep their head lowered to avoid headshots, increased accuracy while not being slowed down (because they are holding 'A', the sprint button), as well as when zoomed in with the left trigger, be able to still move fast and be zoomed in making for slower aiming and not slower movement. So, altogether, they have increased weapon accuracy, harder to get a headshot, and have increased in their aim.

Dunno, feel free to post your own evidence but based on this it has NO impact on accuracy, at least measured as rock and roll on full auto. I tried single shot too and that was equally accurate.

Left clusters are normal, right are stealth. I tested the Combat MG, suppressed Carbine and Bullpup rifle.

Now, with the bullpup, zoomed in on the right vs zoomed out (both with and without stealth)

So yeah, zoom in folks.

I tested more than the first photo suggest but all results were the same - impossible to see any difference.

Nice test, appreciate it. What platform are you on, just curious? I guess results may vary, and I only speak from my experience and what I've learned from skilled shooters. But when I shoot w/ stealth I'm usually not standing still, I'm running to the left or right, and I find it easier to get headshots this way. Maybe it reduces recoil when moving? Maybe it's my imagination. I would like to see an in-depth test on this. Zooming in with right-click is a great tip too, agreed.
