Question about cargo plane.

The old times we were able to obtain a cargo plane with a glitch, is it still possible to do so nowadays?

Why don't they just go ahead and actually add it in?

Oh yeah, no fun allowed. How could I forget?

They tried to crack that it's because it breaks something. Didn't seem to be a problem when we were crashing them into one another.

I suppose the Titan is the nearest thing in GTA online to a cargo plane? You can buy it, find it in the rear hanger at LSIA and sometimes at Sandy Shores, and on last-gen you used to be able to force-punch/kick open the rear door and drive vehicles into it. That was patched though, and like so many things in GTA online, Rockstar don't un-patch or fix broken things easily.

It's grim that they stopped us from using the Titan's doors. Just one more thing mod menus have opened back up for us, on PC at least. It still works 100%, R* just turned it off for no good reason.

They patched it for a reason, something to do with causing excessive lag in freemode? But like I said, once Rockstar patch something, they don't un-patch it easily.

Dunno man, even though the door worked I couldn't get my mates to stay inside it like we used to, they kept dropping out after I closed the door. Didn't spend long on it, and I probably could have fixed it, but ah well.

Gotta wait until my mod account is unbanned before I run any more tests :D

Good luck with your testing, but make sure you don't get banned because of it. I'm on XB1 so I don't mess with that sort of thing.

And what's the point of the Titan if you can't hold things inside it like cars and tanks? It's like a cargobob without a hook. Pointless.

Titan and cargobob still locked on next gen? Most pointless pegasus vehicle in my opinion. More useful than the dump though (which I did buy. It can't fly :( ).

Cargobob's already been rendered useless with the last update, unfortunately.

As for getting banned, I'm currently banned on my modding account, and fully intend to be banned again. I bought a new copy of GTA specifically for doing these tests so I wouldn't have to worry about my main account being in trouble. It's just not worth risking so many hours played to satisfy my idle curiosity. On the other hand, it's more than worth the £20 a new copy of GTA cost me.

A rival for the useless Titan: the useless Dump that can't dump.

you had what maybe two cargo planes being used at a time? well what's to say that if in a full session and 12 of the players try to use the cargo plane at the same time as each other and it crashes the game? Rockstar is not going to lie and say they can't put it in the game if they really can.

No, this is where you fail. You obviously haven't got a clue how any of this works in the free roam environment. I, on the other hand, have personally tested it.

You're operating on assumptions, whereas I paid money to test out my theories. I think I'm in a better position than you to say what works and what doesn't.

The only time the Cargoplane even has a negative effect on framerates is when you have a load of them dumped on top of one another, an effect which happens with all vehicles in the game when a boatload are in the same place. It's actually very similar to the blimps, which they claimed don't work online, when they absolutely do.

[EDIT] Just curious. Have you ever seen 30 players fly Froggers at the same time? I have, and it's f*cking mental. Your logic could apply to almost any in-game vehicle.

and it's only the modders that say this, because Rockstar patches your stuff.

they only patch that stuff you modders/glitchers do to protect the game for everyone. For all you know your modding/glitches could potentially screw something up, no matter how big or small it is.

think of it this way, why would Rockstar lie about stuff when they could potentially make money off of it - for example the hat/mask/glasses glitches - Rockstar could make extra money by making it available, but for all we know they very well could have tried to add it, for it to only cause problems in other parts of the game. When you modders/glitchers do your stuff you are messing with the code in the game and that can cause serious problems with other parts of the game. There has been a lot of stuff that has been modded/glitched into the game patched out by Rockstar that they very well could make more money off of if they were to add.

and that again is why you fail. it does not apply to every in-game vehicle, because they ARE ALREADY IN THE GAME AND OBVIOUSLY WORK JUST FINE. like I said for all we know Rockstar could have very well tried to get the cargo plane to work in GTA Online and could not get it to work without it causing problems elsewhere in the game. When you mod and glitch stuff in the game, you are making the game do stuff that it is not programmed to do and that alone can cause big problems in the game.

everyone who seriously thinks that Rockstar has a "no fun" policy has no clue, and probably should not be playing the game since according to them "it's not fun".

and before anyone says it, no I am not a Rockstar Games fanboy. I have had my fair share of issues with Rockstar Games.

I don't know why you're so insistent to force the point when you freely admit that you don't know what you're talking about, don't have any experience in the matter, and don't have anything to bring to the table but assumptions.

Yes, what I'm saying does apply to every in-game vehicle. As a matter of fact, it applies to every single object in the game, no matter how big or small. If I spawn an amount of BMXs on you equivalent to the size and polycount of 300 cargoplanes, it will crash your game just the same. It can be done with clones, cars, trees, you name it, it can be used like this.

Do you have anything but assumptions to add here? As I said, I've seen this stuff running. Have you?

Actually, on LG PS3 at least, the game go apesh*t mad and start lagging (to the point that it seems like the game crashed) if you crashed your Cargo Plane, at least in SP.

The Cargo Plane, of all the vehicles in the game, is #No.1 buggiest vehicle, because it wasn't designed to be used in FR outside 2 SP missions (that I won't spoil. ;)).

Hmmm, not sure why this thread is turning into a rant/argument.

Unfortunately Rockstar don't allocate programming resources for fixing old bugs. That's been their policy from way back. They could test things and fix them up, but they don't. Just think of any one of a dozen or so niggles you have with the game that have never been fixed.

What Rockstar are good at is providing us with new content. It seems that all of their programming resources are focused on that.

The Cargoplane is simply ISN'T made for FR usage, as it was primarily made for 2 SP missions. Easy way to prove this: spawn a CP in LG PS3 Single Player using a Save Editor and crash the thing somewhere. Yep, lag everywhere. You can't even takeoff with the damn thing like any normal aircraft - pull too much and you'll scratch the tail.

All that proves is that the PS3 hasn't got the memory to handle it, nothing about what it's designed for. It's no secret that that old hardware doesn't have what it takes.

But what about PC's? Do the game also lag when you crash the CP in SP? Just curious.

I honestly haven't tried it in SP myself, so can only say what happens online.

I'll tell you what, I'll fire up GTAV here and spawn one to see, then I'll report back.

[EDIT] Spawned a Cargoplane at LSIA and flew it to Alta Street where I crashed it into the road. 60 frames per second throughout the whole exercise, no lag whatsoever. If you'd like me to test it another way I will.

[EDIT 2] Here are the screens from the flight to Alta Street, and the subsequent crash. Frame rates are recorded in the upper left of the screen.

Flying over...

The crash itself...

YikKTUC.jpg

Shooting the sh*t out of it to try and create some stress to cause lag. No joy, notice still 60FPS.

Spawned a few more, for science:

The myth is busted then - The Cargo Plane has 0 effects on the Enhanced version of the game. Which means its just the PS3 that was unable to handle said vehicle.

They could quite easily make a few modifications to this aircraft, and it would be amazing. So much potential to be had.

As for arguments above "What if there are x amount on the map?" etc. This can be solved the same way the Mugger/Mercenaries are, if necessary. Only usable by one player at a time, and not able to use passive mode.

Sorted.
