Exactly why hasn't the crouch ability been added yet?

I like this idea. Next thing you know, someone's gonna ask if we can be able to put a empty Cardboard Box over ourselves and say that's the new Sneaking Feature.

Haven't seen a valid reason for wanting crouch added in this thread, other than it was in IV and not V. It's not needed. Stealth, cover, and rolling are improved in V. And btw, skilled shooters use stealth when strafing. When you wonder why you can't hit someone's head, that's probably why.

Not really a necessary feature.

??? Wtf do you mean not necessary? So double clicking the right analog stick to point is more necessary than crouching? Good god.

Indeed it is. Helps with communication.

I don't want my GTA character looking like they're taking a dump in the street.

because none of the missions have any dynamic approach options, Its a shame each and every contact mission and Heists cant be done stealth as optional, so things like crouch, prone and silenced weapons would actually be worth while

Some of the contact missions can be done stealth. Artificial Scarcity for one.

There are no stealth missions aside from a couple heist set-ups.

Crouch is needed for better mobility and flexibility while taking cover. It would improve accuracy. Players would have more control over their characters. Stealth node would be activated by crouching.

Crouch isn't needed.

And is stealth needed? Since it's basically useless and no one can take advantage of it

If they do add it, it better not improve accuracy, just like it did in IV.

Uhh yes it should?

So people would constantly crouch just so they can kill quicker?

Roll, crouch, roll, crouch, roll, crouch...

I mean, it's not like it would make a difference. All weapons in V are pretty freaking accurate so it really wouldn't matter.

idfag about crouch, but you're wrong, stealth is not useless. see my post above. When you activate stealth mode while strafing with a rifle, it ducks your head down and makes you harder to hit but doesn't slow you down. Valuable pro-tip for you.

Frankly, the whole combat system in GTAO needs an overhaul. Half the time I feel like Shun Di from Virtua Fighter 2, but without the cool martial arts moves. lol

BF3 makes GTAO's movement system (other than building access) look like a joke; it's two years older then GTAO, but it's light years ahead when it comes to fluidity of movement and FPS system.

...and is it just me, or do most of the machine guns look oversized when being held by your character?

Stealh IS useless. I don't see how anyone can defend. Sure, that's one small feature but you could accomplish so much more with crouch mode than you ever could with stealth. Crouching while sniping would also make you an even smaller target to hit. Find me 10 useful things you can do with stealth mode that you can't also accomplish with crouch mode. There is not much use to it, it is quite useless.

No more ridiculous than everyone jumping left and right with the marksman, or offing themselves over and over again. This game already is ridiculous.

Still useless to me, by doing what you said it probally would take two shots more to kill, nothing exceptional.

Then as someone already said, crouching while sniping is better, but also let you run (like in GTAIV) and hide from bullets when there is a low cover (small wall for example).

I don't see why it's ridiculous that someone can crouch/crawl/get into a better position to aim their gun, and then be able to use it better than they otherwise would.

To those people who say crouching isn't needed, please tell me why "stealth" is. Crouching can do the stealth job just fine, if not better, and it also allows the player to dynamically cover in places where GTA V's cover system fails (and there are a LOT of these spots!).

Why not keep both? The stealth stance could be a compromise between crouching and walking: quieter than walking, faster than crouching, with the downside of being basically walking hunched over and thus making you a very visible and obvious target should you be spotted.

It wouldn't even need a new button. Press once to stealth, hold for half a second to crouch. It's not so damn difficult. The idiots who decided to keep "stealth" instead are probably the same braindead morons who forgot to include a simple button to change the camera angle, like in Max Payne 3, GTA IV, LA Noire, Red Dead Redemption, and pretty much every god damn game they've made.

This is logical; therefore, expect haters to come out of the woodworks.

Actually, I edited that in, because I felt it was necessary to "rant" about very important features being mutilated from previous games.

Childish or not, if that's all you have to attack in the argument, then you've proved my point.

That doesn't make sense, you should edit this post too. But I have posted my thoughts on stealth in this thread above.

Exactly one of my main complains with V. A lot of things were cut from previous games that made no sense (i.e: crouching, jumping in place, picking up/throwing objects, pushing NPCs, etc). It really takes away from the experience.

Besides, Stealth Mode is completely useless and is never used in gameplay since stealth isn't possible. Save for a few missions, it's pretty much meaningless. Crouching would be a welcome addition.

Yeah it's pretty bad. I loved to pick up objects and throw them in IV. The mechanics in this game are just bad. Instead of shoving someone they added the Saints Row knockout sh*t as well as the player going into that annoying running position when you punch or shoot someone.

The only time I really need Crouch is when I'm behind cover and cover system works perfectly fine for crouching now if I could do a diving jump like Max Payne now you're talking

When would you crouch or duck... behind a wall or car! You can use the cover system and hide behind it as if you were crouching, its not like you need to crouch in the middle of the street and either way it wouldn't improve accuracy unless you put your knee on the ground which in most games you aren't programmed like that ( when your knee is on the ground it is a "motionless" positon usually you don't move much once your like that because you need to lift it up again when like that you are usually hunting something far away ). As well I noticed in a picture somewhere in this topic that the modded in crouch looks like the leg moved through the body in an awkward way ( they probably gave up on making a realistic looking crouch )

However I will admit stealth needs a buff overall it is useless for most missions and free mode ( yes it has some use but very little ) But actually crouching isn't needed, we can already crouch behind cars among other things why do we need to crouch in open area?

As well I noticed someone say laying down flat for shooting snipers, that seems like a good idea as realistically you would never snipe standing ( The force of a high powered sniper could easily knock you over ) Maybe laying down could increase accuracy by double or standing while sniping be nerfed to reduce the number of those "jumpy" snipers hoping back and forth.

The player would still be a harder target to hit, and no, you can't cover properly behind everything (think trash cans, trees), at least not if you want to be able to properly move while shooting?

Try crouching in real life and walking. I guarantee you wouldn't be able to get very far.

What exactly are you trying to say here? Are you trying to apply that kind of realism in a game where you can sprint infinitely? Edited by lol232
