Categorize sessions according to Mental state

Could be, but 'd prefer seeing Friendly lobbies where no one can shoot other players. Wanna play TDM in free roam? Go into another lobby, easy and smooth.

Just like Red Dead Redemption

Well, players with high mental state tend to be put in sessions together while players with low mental state tend to be put in sessions together.

Sometimes there are exceptions, but it tends not to happen, so the system is already there, but it's not that strict.

to be honest, the wording R* used when they introduced the "mental state" thing, they made me believe you would be placed with played based on your mental state, which is not the case.

mental state has been f*cked from the get go. it makes no distinction between my quite reasonable and healthy behavior (killing of several hundred policemen) and the assholes who grief other players.

An almost completely red player has just as much chance being a decent person than a completely white-washed one.

If I get attacked sixteen times by the same player, and kill him each time he goes after me, I get stuck being blood red while he remains virgin-white.

So I'm the bad guy...?

Wouldn't make a difference. You still wouldn't escape the psychopaths. Besides there's passive mode so it's also unneeded.

Don't see how this would work.

So, you have a 'normal' mental state and start running around killing people, the mental state bar reaches (say) 1/3rd, game decodes you should be in a session of people with a similar state, so kicks you out of this one and puts you in a new season with others that have a raised mental state.

You then continue your killing spree and your mental state continues to rise, so the same thing happens over and over.

Once you stop killing and your mental state behind to drop the same would have to happen in reverse, gradually moving you to more peaceful sessions.

I can't see people bring very happy with being moved around sessions like that, there is enough bitching and moaning as it is.

If it didn't move people around sessions based on mental state you'd just end up with exactly what we have now - players with varying states in the same session.

Fúck No! Other wise, what's the point in mental state. They might aswell just make friendly lobbies with no guns

But it changes so often - some days my Daily Objectives require me to attack other players or cause havoc, other days I can spend sessions minding my own business and taking pics.

I don't want to be forced into a 'Bad Sport Lite' if I've been given a Daily Objective list that involves killing 20 players, holding up stores and stealing 10 cars.

Sorry to disagree, but I have seen absolutely nothing to support that suggestion. During the week I'm usually as white as snow (the non-yellow kind), but at weekends I spend most of the time with a full mental state. I have never, ever been in a session where the majority of players are also red. In fact, I've never been in a session with more than a few red blips. It just doesn't happen.

In answer to the topic, I think it's perfectly fine the way it is. Red blips are an indicator of very little, and affect the game even less.

Aren't gta:o separated enough? First you have the different aiming preferences, who are then split in good/bad sport and you want to separate it more? And people complain about empty lobbies...

Also, mental state doesn't really mean much, there could be loads of reason someone has max mental state, but tbh I've found that those players are more likely to enjoy the game and be more fun and chill to play with, as opposed to those "i don't kill anyone gta is supposed to be about this and that" f*ckwits who do nothing but complain about every aspect of the game and the players who play it.

Indeed - all of that.

I've gone from zero mental state to completely full from one single player that just won't stop trying to kill me, and I'm not just talking once. Just because a red blip suggests that I went on a rampage, it doesn't mean it.

Screw segregation.

This is not a good idea because you already have passive mode. If someone is trying to kill you, go passive, if you don't like passive mode then git gud.

It would not be an awesome idea for the community is already divided to much by targeting modes.

A better idea would be to segregate players based on k/d ratio, Those with abnormally high ones that they prize so much i.e Jet wankers and Modders would be placed in lobbies with nothing but their kind, I doubt either of those kinds of players will like it for very long.

So there we go we have effectively removed 2 kinds of cancer from normal freeroam lobbies and who knows maybe it'll give those types of players the kick in the balls they need to learn how to play nice. :)

When they let me off the naughty step, I'll show you where the wild things are haha.

Not sure if it's maybe different for PC players, but if I spend the day wrecking fools, then by the end of the night when I'm changing session, most other players in my lobby are not white dots. Those that are white dots tend to be passive players ignoring the surrounding chaos. I often join lobbies where it's one or two crews vs everyone else, and it's an absolute clusterf*ck of red dots.

I'm sure most of us have seen the "Automatic Absolution" that happens if you're online at a certain time, by which you go from fully red to pristine white instantly. After that, regardless of your current lobby, the next one you join will have less red dots.

Obviously I can only speak for my own observations, but there's my 2¢.

[EDIT] Quoted wrong comment, fixed.

Well yeah - they've just made everyone a white dot :p

But yeah, maybe it is different on PC. Also, I may not be the best example as I cannot change my player from "clean", no matter how hard I try. I think maybe something is bugged out and I get seen as a good boy, regardless of my actions.

I remember R* mentioned it when the Mental State feature came in the High Life update, unless my memory is fooling me.

I have definitely noticed this.

No idea why that has never happened to you but I'm sure someone was going to say that :)

I often play with friends, so any form of segregation is completely nullified by that. If it doesn't let me play with friends because we've killed a different amount of people that day then it's basically useless to me. That's not what happens though, so I believe it has little to no effect. It's the same as you though - just my experience. They tell us nothing so we'll probably never actually know for sure.

Funny thing about that is I never had my mic in public chat on that account. Strictly in TeamSpeak.

All those "Hate Speech" reports are super-salty people who wanted to report me for wrecking them. False reporting, yet here I am serving the BS sentence.

C'est la vie.

You want the servers to break? people bitching about being beeing booted from their session cause they ran over a few pedestrians and killed a few cops? Get real, this would be a real clusterf*ck

I heat up and cool down all the time in one session, I don't want to be yanked from my session against my will . the game is fine as is, We have enough problems finding lobbies and being kicked out when we don't want to. Don't need more complications .

Mental state was f*cked from the very moment that they decided to make PvE violence count toward it, just like BS is really BS when they decided that blowing up PVs should count toward it.

Leave things as they are.
