Describe the Play as Cops DLC you'd want to play

With so many glitching to get that cop uniform, its obvious many want to play cop. Its the obvious DLC that needs to happen.

Heres how Id do it:

Just like activating passive mode, you could activate Cop Mode, where you basically clock in as a cop. In Cop mode, you cant kill anyone who doesnt have stars activated. You can kill civilians or players, but you lose say 10k per kill, like its taken out of your cop salary. When on patrol, you get alerted to the criminals on the map like you are hunting a bounty, the icon always stays lit so you can drive to the location. The icons will be black stars on your minimap, with a white number inside the star, 1-5, so you know how wanted you are. Killing criminals rewards 10k 1-2 stars, 20k 3-4 stars, 30k 5 stars. But you're basically competing against the AI cops for the kill, and any other officers on patrol in your lobby. On the minimap, you show up as a gold star to other players, so they know where the cops are. Copsc can call their own version of Lester to go off the grid so you can be sneaky too for a few minutes.

Theres a website just for cops to buy cop cars. When on duty, you can either drive to the local stations and use a standard car in the parking lot, or you can own one of many cop cars to choose from on the website, and get that car brought to you by the cop mechanic. All the regular cop cars are available for purchase, plus many others. Id like to see the Zentorno as a cop car, sorta like those exotic cop cars in Dubai. Youd get the CHiPs motorcycle, park ranger type SUVs, FIB cars, etc. Youd also get to customize the paint scheme a little, you wouldnt just have to be black and white. You could pick from Los Santos and Blaine County schemes, also Liberty City and Vice City schemes, pretending your a cop from the other cities that is visiting Los Santos.

The cop clothing store is at the police stations, you must be on duty to shop there. Cop outfits would have good customization too.

The cop cars you buy would have MAX STATS. Zentorno doesnt have to be the only super cop car, let use buy T20, Osiris, etc. But all the super cars would have same top speed, and all have max traction and turning ratio stats. This would be fair, because as a player cop you have to outrace your own police force to get to the criminal and get the kill, so giving a driving advantage to the player cop is needed. The only difference in cop car tiers is that the supers go the fastest, then muscle cop cars, then 3rd fastest are all the regular sedan cop cars. And the sedans would be pretty damn fast too. Basically super cops are max top speed bars, muscle are just 1/2 a bar slower, and the rest of the fleet are just one bar below max, so even as a sedan, you are pretty damn fast, just like the AI. Cop cars would be the most fun to drive in Freemode with their max driving stats in turning ratio, braking, acceleration, and traction, but can only kill players if they are wanted. Max stat cop cars are also fair for when the lobby turns against the cops are tries to gang rape them, then it will be the cops on the run sometimes.

If they want to sell more Shark Cards, they should make the Cop DLC like I described. Also make a few contact missions for cops to co op and play too.

I agreed until I saw the Shark Cards part.

Just kidding, lovely idea. It would make me feel like in a NFS: Most Wanted. I'd love to see those cars in the game:

And ofc beating people with the baton

Beating the criminal to death with just the baton should reward 5k more lol. Yeah, they need that Need For Speed Pursuit feel to the game, and thats what Im going for.

If they made it just like I described it, I would be ok with it being the first DLC they charge for. Id be willing to pay a one time $10 Police Academy fee just to be a cop sometimes. That would be a fair price per every player if they made it as awesome as I described. It would also keep the kiddies and free loaders from being cops too if they were unwilling to shell out for it. Making it a privilege just for PAYING players seems fair, as long as it isnt more than $10, because they'll make a TON of money off the DLC if EVERY cop HAS to pay to activate it. You couldnt glitch your way to game cash to pay for it, nothin but straight cash homey!

Not possible because of stickies. Chases in this game just simply don't work because of explosives.

Sadly this is true.

The games actual game play has always hindered by excessive explosive carry and usage.

R* can indeed add so much to this game. But no matter what they add its ruined by this.

Sure a COP DLC would be awesome. But is playing as a cop and dodging a million sticky bombs fun? No. But thats the reality of it all. Especially now that players can refill their explosives with a simple quick menu grab.

If they limited carries of explosives to 1 or 3. ..and removed the silly option to buy it from the quick menu then a COP dlc would be a sh*t ton of fun to play. But that won't happen, because some people would loose their minds.

Apologies for pissing on your thread, OP, but pretending to be a cop doesn't interest me at all. I know many people like dressing up in cop uniforms and driving cop cars, etc, but it's something that bores me. Good luck with your thread through.

Not possible because of stickies. Chases in this game just simply don't work because of explosives.Make it so that c4 wont stick to cop cars and player cops can only throw grenades from their cars, not stickies or proximities, so its a fair chase. Maybe also make it so that player cops can withstand 2-3 c4 blasts if they drive by one on the road.

I like the idea of being able to enable cop car livery to a vehicle you own while playing as a cop.

I would simply want the regular cop gear. No police super cars. But if you wanted to be a bit different, you could be a detective or a fed instead of a patrol cop, in which case you'd wear suits and stuff like that, and drive a more normal car, but with sirens of course. Cops would need to be limited in their weapon access, since they're cops. Free choice of handgun and the regular shotgun for 1-2 star criminals, SMG and regular sniper rifle for 3 star criminals, and 4-5 you can use the grenade launcher, the heavy sniper, the carbine, and the special carbine, as well as riot gear that works like heavy armour in heists. Baton and smoke grenades are always available, and stun gun for arrests, which give more money. Break the rules, and for instance use an assault rifle against a 1-2 star criminal, and you'll lose money and be reprimanded. Do it enough and you'll get fired temporarily. Say, for 2 hours ingame time.

Being a cop should be harder than being a criminal, but in exchange you are the law, other cops won't ever bother you, and you'll even get NPC backup in fights. You can also call in a helicopter and set it to chase a criminal, allowing you to fire from the helicopter. If you play with another player as your partner, they could call in road blocks and stuff, and place them on the map, and NPC cops would show up and block the roads where you assigned them. I don't think there should be that much of a punishment for running down civilians though. The cops in San Andreas are pretty incompetent and corrupt, I don't think they'd care.

Character customization for regular patrol cops should be limited to Blaine County Sheriff's Office or LSPD, and the same for cars/bikes. But you should be able to trim them a bit to make them better than regular police vehicles. As a detective you get access to a different set of vehicles. Crown vics, some muscle cars, the usual stuff. All souped up to law enforcement standards.

And of course, new contacts and missions specifically for cops. These could include drug busts and stuff.

I think police should be changed a bit first. One star should be non lethal force. Since Rockstar got lazy* and doesn't allow players to be arrested online, it makes a bit of sense. One star, cops are only allowed to use the stun gun and baton, if they are attacked, then immediately it goes to two stars where lethal force is allowed.

Being a cop should work similar to GTA IV, they would just need to put the police computers in the cop cars. If no players have wanted levels, then there would be random crime committed by NPCs, ranging from petty theft, to large drug deals with a dozen or more members of two gangs.

When players have wanted levels, they would appear on the map. Like OP suggested, the higher the wanted levels would give you more money. You don't buy uniforms, you earn them from doing lots of vigilante missions. Police vehicles can be found parked around the world. When you switch to vigilante mode, it would be kind of like making a VIP Group, but there would just be one "police" group per session.

For all you naysayers, vigilante, and catching criminals has been in all 3d Universe games, and GTA IV, it does not ruin the spirit of the game. It would only make free roam even more fun. Heck, it would give you way more to do in a single player session online if you want to avoid hackers.

*They should have made it so when you get busted online, your character switches to AI, then gets in the nearest cop car, just like in GTA IV. Rockstar took too many cool details out of the series in the transition from IV to V IMO.

I agree, but not the way you put it.

I'd have it a different way, but to each his own. I'm on lunch and don't have enough time to type down my ideas, but I will later.

Make a few contact jobs for popo sh*t.

Make cops and organizations rivals in freemode via a slightly different organization system for the cops.

Allow the use of police outfits / vehicles / etc.

Bring back the original cops n crooks gamemode through some adversary modes or something.

Police vehicles are already fast enough as they are.

true that!

super funny to see how easy a police suv can catch up with a super car haha

the game regressed in many aspects, theres no denying.

If this was a real dlc Rockstar should new weapons for non-lethal takedowns for example stun grenades rubber bullets etc.

If a cop has stun a wanted criminal they could perform a takedown resulting the player busted.

While the player is handcuffed they could be rescued by other players but they have a 20 second timer to break the handcuffs.

The player can accept his fate and can skip the 20 second timer and spawn at the nearest cop station and pays a bribe.

I like this idea. I have both the cop uniform saved and i have a "detective" outfit saved. I also only use my Virgo when playing detective so id love an actual police mode to chase down criminals properly. Good stuff, OP.

I'd rather they just turn the c*nts off as they make a fair fight between people impossible after a few minutes.

I like the idea of being able to play as a cop. I think it would be cool to have some kind of faction gameplay in GTAO. Cops, racers, car thieves, hitmen, etc. Each one would give you different jobs and objectives in free roam, thus always giving you an active goal to pursue.

As for cops, I'd like to get my hands on an undercover cruiser. A little customization would be nice, cop side missions.

What about being part of the NOOSE ? ( SWAT )

With their uniforms and a special police insurgent With BP windows? As a "mission vehicle" of course, cant be stored or modified and can only be driven while being a NOOSE unit.

I kind of like the idea of cops - but OP's idea is kind of half-assed. That basically would be just bounty-hunting.

And Zentorno cop cars? I hope not.

This sounds like it would be to friendly to griefing. You could just be a cop and harass a player constantly killing them the moment they get a wanted level and getting payed for it. It's too easy to get a wanted level in this game. It would be unfair because the cop could just keep killing the player and would be immune to the swarms of police that would constantly attack the player just for defending themselves.
