I managed to. nail 6 world records. 5 on the very first day GTA Online was released and the 6th the day Beach Bum update dropped. All I'd imagine long since beaten. Tutorial race, Criminal Records, Arms Race, Down the Drain, Dipping In and View of Vespucci.

Got it for both characters on the same day back on the PS3. Got in early before the pros could set more impressive records (and before the cheaters would eventually ruin it), and apparently I am fast enough to be "best of the rest" for a while. ;)

Got mine the first day the game was live, lost it probably 20 min later. Also got the "trust no one" early by setting bombs in my hotknife and parking it in front of LSC, before the general public figured out they couldn't steal it.

I voted no, everything is lame, because I thought the thread was about whether you had it tattooed on your character or not. Because it is ugly.

 

But yes, I have it unlocked, and I got it legit. Don't ask me which race, because I have no idea. I didn't even know I had a world record, I had to go check ingame. I thought you just unlocked that tattoo with levels or something. I'm not a big racer.

I had a legit record on the Coil when it first released. It's currently 1499th best, but the top is all glitched so I have no idea what the legit record would be now.

"Legit" means you set a genuine world record - the tattoo unlocked for most people during one of the numerous times every lap was a world record, so I'd say you got it this way. Sorry ;)

 

I held the world record for 7 laps of that short-circuit Panto race for about 3 mins after it came out, unlocking the tat for my secondary :D

I got a genuine world record by getting on right after an update and immediately played a new race like 7-8 times until I nailed it and the World Record popped. It was far from optimized, but I'm positive it was legitimate because it was only available for perhaps 20-25 minutes.

This. I got one on that track that's locked to the Blade.

 

I also used to have one on Downtown Underground way back in 2013

My assumption is that i got it when it was glitched but i really can't be sure, been playing since day 1 so its plausible i had a world record at one point...

i jumped in on of the the 'im not a hipster' races as soon as the update dropped. I highly doubt the record still stands but i had it.

I played at launch for a good while, quit, came back when I got my PS4 to check out next gen, played for a short time, quit, and now I'm back for a little while because my PC is broken so I have nothing better to do. So it's more likely I got it right around launch when it was easier to get a world record. I don't really race, because it's always f*cking supercars, so the odds of me getting it during one of those times is unlikely. I've played maybe a dozen races, if you don't count grinding out the chrome details for muscle cars.

My first one was an unintended and unexpected glitch (as if a Voltic could ever set a Super-Class record on Criminal Records, even in November '13). See photo below

My one legitimate one was right after Beach Bum dropped (some Poleto Bay race that's on the beach. Picked Sedans and 10 laps)

Then I've gotten several when they were glitched:

Nowadays, the record times are so absurd (especially on old-gen) that's it's insulting that Rockstar doesn't reset them.

I think the fastest lap time on Criminal Records is 31/100ths of a second for an entire lap.

I got mine the same way (though long after release-week).

Almost no one on old-gen could resist getting in a Hotknife if they saw one. Plus, it was always free to replace from Mors.

It was the thousands it cost from those bombs that made it a pay-to-get award :/

 

Another trick was to add a ignition bomb, pick up a stranger, get going real fast, and bail out. They automatically move over to the driver's seat and then boom.

I'd also add the remote bomb, find a crowd and drive toward it and either let myself get shot or bail out and let the car roll up to them. They all crowd around it and then I'd set off the bomb. :devil:

On Ps4 and XB1 most of the world record times are legit from what I can tell.

Like doing Criminal Records in 16 seconds with a Dominator?

Yes legit,The track was 'arms race' at the military base & I got it after much effort a few months after the game was realised & I still proudly wear the Blonde tattoo.

I have the racing blonde tattoo on both characters. One legit, one through the racing bug that happened a while back.

 

The legit one I got on a sea race a few months into gta online. Can't recall what one it was as it isnt there anymore.

 

Wish my second one was legit. But I guess that is the way the cookie crumbles. Maybe one day I'll manage another world record on that character and ill feel I'd actually earned it!

Slim chance of that. Much higher chance of the stats page not saving the times quick enough. Main problem in knowing if a record is legit or not.

Got these coming out of my arse thanks to helicopter races. Sometimes it takes a while for the time to register and sometimes you don't get the world record notification, but whatever. Here's one I did earlier:
